But boys and i have always stayed true to the good ol 8 ft storm. When we surf shorebreak or waves are bad, rip around on em. Things will not break. And you can snap it in half and exchange it at costco no questions asked.
I just saw your budget was around 500. Get a wavestorm, get your feet under you and then spend the remaining 400 or whatever on a used board after you learn.

What are your opinions on fish boards? I've heard they are a good in between of long and short boards. Easier to catch waves and paddle, but also more maneuverable/versatile than a long board.
