SNOW: freeride/freestyle skiing game

Damn when I bought the game I didn't even realize that there was a founder pack. I just saw the $15 one.. is there anyway for me to upgrade to one of the higher tiers without having to pay another $15? I'm assuming not..

time of day was slightly broken in the last build

before you can use Num+/- or the e_timeofday # cvars, you need to enter the following command:

e_timeofdayspeed 0

Meh I'd rather just leave it to you guys. You know best, and if something is wrong enough, people will bring it up.

The one issue that i have is that everytime im just cruising around, not in tuck mode, but ready to pop off a sick cliff or booter and i roll over a little bump and catch air i forget im also holding the grab button and i eat shit cause the second i catch air im starting my grab and land in grab mode..If you could somehow make it so that when your holding the down arrow ready to pop, and you catch unexpected air that you just stay crouched and not start your grab that would be awesome. I frequently ruin my line cause im cruising around ready to pop and get a little air and land grabbing...thats all thanks

this may have been mentioned but just from watching the edit, one change that would make park look a lot better is to have the skis scissor on rails depending on your rotation. that is one feature that makes shredsauce look awesome.

strongly considering buying a laptop so I can play this through my surgery/injury rehab!

we have the animations but require a few bugs to be fixed by CryENGINE and a bit more tech to be built by us to know what animation to play on what material you're sliding on

Some terrain features that I would like to see eventually:

Pillows: there should be more pillows with log rides and technical lines and tranny finds

Ak stuff: I would like to see ak style spines and ridges and carcasses or cravasse gaps

Park stuff: a big air jump and a creative jib half pipe would be awesome.

Hidden stuff : log rides and wooden park features should be hidden in the trees

Japan stuff: road side avy barriers and road gaps would be awesome

Love the game so far, but I'd like to see a couple improvements:

Rails: If you don't land perfectly on the rail you'll go right through it. If you could make it so if the skier land on it wrong, they progressively slide off. It would look so much more realistic.

Landings: Make more snow fly up after you land. Heck it's a huge mountain of powder. Needs a little more fluff.

Jumping: Crouching before takeoff throws me off sometimes. Like say when I go off a kicker. I crouch, but then if I want to correct my position by turning, it stands my skier up straight, and I can't really tell if I'm still crouched or not. What I'm trying to say is keep my skier hunched over while turning if I'm holding down the space bar.

Moving: I hate spamming the W key trying to get speed. Can you make it so 3 pumps gets you to full speed? It looks even worse in POV. Gives me headaches.

Other than that the game is sweet. Takes a little getting used to but now I like the controls.

One last thing, how do you change it to nighttime? This might've been asked before.

Good thoughts!

I would like to voice an opinion on the pow "fluff" I'm guessing having a lot of snow puff out when you land would be kinda graphics intensive and in my opinion a waste of power. I think it would be really hard to make powder skiing look like your actually riding in deep pow.

Has anyone else noticed that the have only designed one ski, in that you have either two left skis or two rights. Eg. most of the Line skis have a continuing design, however this is not the case.

I had a suggestion if it hasn't already been put up in one way or another. one thing I get stoked on when watching ski films is when a trick is landed first try. In powder the landing won't be tracked out, so it means the skier didn't have any practice. You could add this element to the game by randomly generating film challenges that you're only allowed one attempt and if you fail then you must try again but in a new spot or whatever. Players would have to nail a certain number of these before unlocking the next set of medium, hard, expert difficulty etc first try challenges

I think that some people will do really dumb mods so that they can do deca corks and stuff. But some people might do things to improve the game which would be cool.

What I am bothered by are the people on the steam forum who obviously dont ski and say stuff like "Its not a real game like all you do is just start at the top and slide down.". How does this not quualifie as agame?

I would guess right now its because even though there are scoring mechanics in the game, nothing is done with them. You get a score but you are not competing against anyone, there are no time limits, stuff like that. If you want some advice, do your best to stay out of the steam forums unless you are having some technical issues you have a question about or something like that, they tend to be a steaming pile of horseshit, and despite steam now doing early access games for somewhere around 2-3 years, people still dont seem to understand what the fuck it means. The big banner that says EARLY ACCESS/ALPHA/BETA game and that it is a work in progress seem to be lost on people. That or its a by-product of the big name companies doing stuff like putting out a Battlefield 4 'Beta' that is basically done and a demo to hype people. People think a beta is a game thats basically done, even though that is wrong most of the time.

The main problem i see, is people creating new clothing/ski textures, then giving them out for free. That will then bring in no profit.

Well from what I understand is that the Snow developers want to make their long term profit off of selling cosmetics when they go free to play. When multiplayer arrives people can show off their purchased cosmetics there. However, these retextures and mods people are creating will not be available for all to see in multiplayer.

Think of it in terms team fortress. Sure people could go around modding their clients to allow them to see all the hats in the entire game they could ever want. But at the end of the day, they would be the only ones to see their hats not the rest of the player base. Thus their economy continues to thrive despite the mods that are available

I love the amount of butthurt from the mac users in this thread. Heres the reality check for you, mac users. Porting a game to mac is expensive, and generally the last thing on the developers minds when they are still in Alpha or beta. They are having enough issues making the game run stable on one operating system, adding a second into that would likely compound the problem 10fold. The reason games are generally for PC first, is that more people have PCs, its as simple as that. They need to hit as many people as they can, and there are billions more windows devices on the planet then their are Apples. You can delude yourself into believing that your Mac is superiour to a windows based, or even linux based PC, but you would be wrong, and here is my one point to this argument. I have Never in my 22+ years of using a PC, needed to install a second partition on any PC to make it need to run an Apple program. Everything that is available on a Mac, is also available on a PC, and usually as a better version.

if you dont agree/understand this all your a fool. Dont complain about it, its no one else fault you chose mac cause its pretty looking and hipsterish
