SNOW: freeride/freestyle skiing game

Bought a new gfx card today and.. holy shit now you're talking, amazing! Got my corks locked down, making a video soon you know me, all you wasd flippers will be shut down :)

man everyone NEEDS a controller. I got used to the keyboard but last night i set up my ps3 controller and its ridiculous. I can do 20X more stuff and its way more fun. That and having it on my TV screen is like playing it on ps3

i used Pinnacle which was suggested by someone here. Super easy to get and configure.

Hardest part is deciding what buttons you want for what.

You can choose what you like best but heres what i did......

Left analog to replicate WASD keys which is actually just a option you choose.

then i made X=space bar for jumping

Circle ,Sqaure and triangle as the grabs which are the arrow keys...to get the tweaked grabs i have to hit of these buttons plus X

L1,R1 = Q,E for lincolns

L2= Shift for quick spins/butters

wait till you see the difference

you might also need the "DS3 tool" to get windows to recognize and enable your ps3 controller. download that first

I couldn't find a solution for your predicament. Maybe just get Pinnacle like ny300z did. Some users on the SNOW Steam forum have created premade profiles so you just get that and you're good.

New patch is live! Fixes below...

19/10/13:

Disabled invalid file access warnings.

Velocity is now reset when exiting flymode.

Trick manager is now created along with the player, instead of being re-created each revive. Minor loadtime boost.

Fix: Issue where grinding for a very short duration could result in a notification indicating a gained score of 0.

Added new g_detachCameraDisableInput CVar.

Reworked resetting / continue; now moves the player back a few seconds in time instead of spawning at the death point.

Re-implemented cl_camMouseLookRotInterpolationSpeed.

New method of determining landing angles, uses new pl_skiLandingFatalAngle CVar.

New death camera.

Fatal rock impact velocity is now the same for landing and colliding

Fix: Crashing when going straight down

Tweaked buttering

Changed pl_skiStoppedMaxVelocityLength to 1, resolves a bit of camera twitching.

Reworked trick input detection.

Added new pl_notifyCrashes CVar, notifies players why they crashed.

Fix: Default system spec

Added cheat notification, displayed any time a cheat is used.

Score will now be invalidated whenever a cheat is used, and cannot be regained until the player respawns without cheats on.

If velocity is less than 2, no score will be awarded.

Added new cl_camNearPlane and cl_fpCam_nearPlane CVars to tweak the first-person camera arms clipping.

Fixed full rotations in FP mode

Added new pl_skiLandingBadMinAngle CVar, defaults to 50.

So SNOW, should I buy a X360 controller, buy pinnacle/x padder or wait for you to put ps3 controller input in ? I don't really want to spend more then the 60 bucks I already gave you guys

why not get the ps3 controller and download pinnacle? its free. and then u got the controller when they add ps3 support anyway

Just bought the game today and it's really really good.

Just one suggestion is that it would be nice to have some sort of checkpoint system so you can put a check point on a particular location and then teleport back to that point/location when you press a button or key. This would make practising on a feature a lot quicker and easier.

Downloaded tonight, it's like impossible to play..I havent tweaked around with the settings but hopefully Im able to dumb down the setting so its actually playable

Change your settings.

Open the console in game using the ` key (it's to the left of the 1 key).

Then type in one of the following for:

Low Quality:

sys_spec 1

Medium Quality:

sys_spec 2

High Quality:

sys_spec 3

Very High Quality:

sys_spec 4

Start with the lowest and work your way up until you find the best looking quality while the game is still playable

1) would advise against using Paralells - stick to Bootcamp (it's free!)

2) you do not have the latest v.card drivers and/or direct x version

Okay thanks. The only reason i am not using Bootcamp ATM, is because i do not have an external hardrive to backup the machine and then restore it to complete the partionining steps.... If everything fails, i will just have to invest in a damn external hardrive :(

Will try to see if it's possible to do something about the drivers in Parallells.

Thanks alot though :)

Could you guys smooth out the skiing in POV mode? I spend most of my time playing in POV and in the air its sick but when you are actually skiing the camera adjusts to every little bump so everything is super jittery.

please fix the black screen issue while trying to play trough a virtual machine (parallels dekstop, VMware ect.) i feel like i have wasted 15$ since it wont let me play.

A few questions I have @ snowdevs or anyone else that can answer these.

Are you planning on implementing any type of multiplayer?

When the game becomes free to play, will you introduce purchasable cosmetic items?

Once the finished version of the Snow is released, will there be any gameplay updates?

Also, just out of curiosity, have you guys ever thought about releasing Snow for consoles?

What size is your monitor? I'm assuming its a 1280x720 since you don't have a graphics card. In that case you probably wouldn't need to pay more than $100 dollars to buy a graphics card if you want to run at 60FPS.

we haven't tested parallels or VMware so it's hard to say if we'd be able to fix it. I'd look at using Bootcamp as we have tested it successfully on our end

lots of these questions have been answered already, but i'll answer them again, just for you :)

Are you planning on implementing any type of multiplayer?

Yes, that is our next major feature update. Sometime in the next 4 weeks for those that have the Tester/Founder tiers

When the game becomes free to play, will you introduce purchasable cosmetic items?

Yes, that is the entire purpose of going f2p

Once the finished version of the Snow is released, will there be any gameplay updates?

We have no plans to ever have a "finished" game of SNOW as we will always try to add more features and perfect the experience - think FIFA

Also, just out of curiosity, have you guys ever thought about releasing Snow for consoles?

Yes and we are looking at the next-gen consoles as they allow us to self publish the game as we wish - PS4 especially

Its not that simple.. We need to know how many CPU's you're running if you don't want to bottleneck your processor. Buying a high end graphic card won't necessarily solve the lag if you're running the game with an old PC / laptop.
