SNOW: freeride/freestyle skiing game

Okay I've got a problem. I have way above the minimun specs for the game (running an i5 2.9Ghz dual core processor with i think 8 gb of ram) and i'm getting mad lag. Like so much the game is totally unplayable. I've never had anything like this before and i can run games like gta 4, skyrim etc. no problem. Is there something i should know about getting the game to run properly that i've missed? haha

You listed all the specs that matter the least right there. Cryengine wants you to have a nice beefy GPU on board, what are you running for that?

Okay, I spend the past 20 minutes flying around looking for Chad's. I found a cool road gap with a kicker along the way but nothing close...anybody want to share?

spawn at the lower marker on the left, not the one with the quarter pipe and hip, but the one by it. go down a bit and its just kinda on the right over a little hill. I think thats how i found it, last time i played this morning im pretty sure thats the marker i used, but im not on the comp that has snow right now so i may be wrong

Next three things that are necessary for the game:1. more optimization (always should be on the list)

2: session markers, It's really annoying to have to go into freefly mode every time you're sessioning something

3: changing the controls, it still feels really weird, and it would be really helpful if you could change control schemes to your liking.

Other than those, this game is really coming along! just exploring is freaking awesome.

1. we are always improving optimization. until then, i encourage you to read this http://steamcommunity.com/app/244930/discussions/1/792923683648525583/

2. we're working on it. need to find an elegant way to handle it that doesn't force us to rebuild the system in a month's time once things like MP are added (NOT CONFIRMING MP IN A MONTHS TIME)

3. this requires a bunch of UI stuff, which takes time. Is def a planned feature though

later this week we will write a blog post with lots of info about our plans for the future, our notes of feedback and tools for tweaking the games many values to help us tweak features like rotation speed, turning etc

stay tuned!

just dropped by to say wow! this game is amazing, it has the potential to be massive when multiplayer gets implemented. first person camera is so cool, and the whole game has awesome style. if you make the carving animations look a bit more carvy, but hell that first person camera mixed with the graphics has me so excited. is there any way to get rid of the big red texture loading thingy while playing, it pops on and off. changing specs to low or high doesnt do anything to it!

Have a look at this thread; discussing controller setups. Been using a controller mapper to make a basic version of my ideal setup for the X360 and really enjoying playing like that - clicking in with the left analog for faster spins/butters seems right; it's sometimes hard to do but I think that kind of mimics the fact it's hard to always get right in real life - makes getting the big tricks more rewarding.

Wish some of the textures on the rocks were a bit better :< Oh well

Also a key that could still accelerate the skier without having the ability to rotate him would be nice. I've crashed so many times, when I shouldn't have, just because I didn't notice a mogul that shoots me up in the air and causes me to frontflip by accident

just wanted to thank you all for all the feedback - I haven't been able to reply to every bit of feedback, but we are compiling it all and will make a blog post outlining everything everyone have said soon. most of your notes are spot on and we will do our best to prioritize the improvements that will have the most effect to the game.

Just bought this game and needless to say I love it!Hopefully there will be more updates and patches soon so we can enjoy SNOW even more

oh something else, I feel like there needs to be some "flex" to the skis when he lands. right now, you need to be 100% even with the slope to land something, but it would be easier and more realistic if you could land a little bit backseat without falling.

This. Specifically with backseat landings, for some reason when I land insanely far forward or sideways (lincoln loop sideways to clarify) its okay, but the tiniest bit backseat and my character just eats shit.

I would kind of prefer the shredsauce layout, you know spacebar to jump and arrow keys to turn, and letters for grabs.

cause i keep mixing myself up on buttons and eat shit all the time.

In the next update on the map you should work on some of the mountains around the main one and I think everything is perfect ( map wise) so far, except for how there is only 1 suuuuuper steep couloir and I think those are totally awesome. Or maybe one face that has only Big Mountain, as in super steep with a few cliffs but mostly snow and those little ridges running down the mountain.

Also,

Where is the half pipe? Im pretty sure I explored the whole mountain. i guess not :P

but yeah, keep working on the game as a whole and the map to keep people interested. Totally lovin it,

The Doc

i know were all giving you suggestions and all that which is good but shit this game is fucking awesome! you guys did an incredible job and its so fun to play. Just what we needed!

thank you

disable controller input and use Xpadder.

(to disable controllers, go to program files/steam/steamapps/common/SNOW and create a new text document. Type in 'i_xinput=0' and change the file extension to .cfg)

Map the keys as you see fit.

If you need more details, simply ask.

Use F3 to no clip to it. It should be the opposite direction of the lake from the top starting point. Go around a bit and look for groomed trails it should be a ways over that way. There's also some fun groomed stuff to bomb on and this one trail that's almost like a race course of maybe a snow cross course, it's sick.

Anyways, I'd love to see improvements in grabs (remove head turning and maybe improve animation), and spins/flip physics, also maybe additional terrain or an additional mountain because as long as there's new stuff it's still really fun.

I haven't been a huge fan of the park, simply because the jumps are kind of meh, and I'm not amazing at rails yet. I much prefer backcountry jibbing or like first person big mountain lines on the main face.

I also had difficulty with the quarter pipe features, not sure how to not deck, but I've managed to land in tranny a few times on the QP.

Another cool feature i found is right above the park is a little jib forest and there's a tranny jump hip type thing that's pretty interesting.

Again, amazing game, too bad I'm so busy in school.

Ok so next to the castle there is that very long groomer path. Keep following that groomer path down the mountain until you hit a road. Once you hit the road take a left onto the road and keep following it. You will be following the road for about 2-3 minutes. Eventually you will start going uphill. Once you go uphill for about 2 minutes the half pipe will be on your right. If you can't find the exact area that's fine. As long as in your in the general area, you can scout it out with free look.

haha holy shit that edit is amazing! i dont even know how he got that one shot of hitting that box where it zoomed in.

can someone pm me instructions on how to run this on mac. Ive tried researching it but i am confused and dont want to fuck my computer up just for a game
