This kind of thing is institutionalised. There is so little accountability, that had Reuters not put in an FOI request, the slaughter of the other civilians and children would have gone unnoticed. And the justifications used are pitiful. Simply holding a weapon isn't sufficient to warrant engagement, under the ROI. This is a dirty war of the highest order.

OP- you are stupid, of course there going to be calm through out the whole ordeal, its their job. you join the military to kick some enemy ass. if that video isn't kicking iraqi ass then i dont know what is. of course there will always be civilian casualties in war. think of what they did to us. 9/11 how many civilian casualties were there more than any that have died in iraq or afganistan.you just jealous that your countries army can't be as good as USA's, but thats ok because the USA being the strongest NATO army we will just go fight your next war while you sit back and cry

Canada helped more in WWI because the US always mainainted a hands off approach to international affairs. A bunch of europeans fighting didn't bother americans...until they stopped paying the US for weapons. WWI was really all about money for the US, and in the end, the added boost of american troops helped win the war.
WWII-Same deal. Isolationism. The Canadians got involved earlier in both wars due to their closer relationship with the UK, because you guys didn't just tell them to fuck off and fight to get away in the late 1700s. And I'm not sure what you're referring to as the end, since the war ended in 1945, and the US joined in 41. Canada's role prior to the US entering the war was basically the same as the US in WWI-supplying the allies. And there were some pilots also defending britian. Dieppe was just a complete disaster overall. no...American involvement in WWII was far greater than canada's. Everyone used american made weapons and equipment, and D-Day was basically carried by Americans, though the brits, canadians, and french all did a damn good job of getting what they needed to get, just the americans took the harder beaches. (Hence why the US took 2+point du hoc instead of the british taking 3) Then they fought through france, belgium, holland, and germany. In fact, the only major operation of the war past d-day was engineered by an englishman, and it failed miserably. And keep in mind americans were in italy as well.
And whoever said all that doesnt know this because he's not from canada. Americans are not taught canadian history, because apart from in debates like this, they don't need to know it.

the reasoning for that though is that we have far more to train in the US. The SAS and Royal Marines are limited and pretty much all the UK has in the way of special forces so they take more time to make their few more effective. In the US they have a shitload more troops to train, so they make them proficient rather than perfect, then get outside special forces to help them with specialized skills.
Airborne though, the US is top. We practically invented that shit.

absolutely. special air service. there's also a special boat service....SBS...though apparently they aren't as famous. Founded in 1941, they were really just a small group of commandos who learned to parachute behind enemy lines, more like HALO jumpers.

i dont like the whole country segregating either but my opinions on americans come from experience with them. I know very little of american history but i do know a little, like who lincoln is and other various random facts, way too many americans don't even know the shape of canada, or where quebec is.
i've also met someone from london who didnt know where canada was. the topics in this thread are too vast and its hard to get a point across when the subject changes every post.

yea the italians were the first to use it, the germans expanded it, and the americans perfected it and used it the most effectively. No one else in the world has carried out as many large-scale successful para-assaults as the Americans.....mostly because it's now an impractical, outdated idea, and has been since probably the 40s.
