the widgets go on your sidebar, theres about a bajillion different ones. potentially more useful are the plugins. If you're doing tours ect gigpress might be worth checking out. its designed for touring bands, but if you're crafty you can use it for other things too. It would be a good way of listing upcoming events n shit.
Another thing I would consider doing is getting rid of the splash page. they don't really serve much purpose aside from annoying people (no offence). you'd probably be better off by shifting your wordpress directory to the root and creating a page in wordpress that is the default home page. this page could incorporate the photos you've got in your splash page, a bit of info about yourself and also have your latest/all your blog posts
I would probably get rid of the calendar in the sidebar too, at the moment its not really serving any purpose aside from taking up space.
the theme is also pretty wide, i'm guessing who ever designed it did so on a monitor wider than 1024 because it doesn't fit on an 800x600 screen. lots of dinosaurs still use that resolution. I realise the older audience probably isn't your target audience but that might be something to keep in mind - not everyone has a glossy widescreen monitor!
maybe change the name of 'blogroll' to 'links'?
more content = getting people to stay longer
maybe put some more stuff on your about page
video blogging could be money, I bet Jon had heeps of hits! you could do live updates from dew tour via your phone, that will keep people visiting your site. adding a short vid clip summary as soon as poss would also be good. people are always keen to get the latest as soon as possible, and the early bird gets the worm!
don't let your blog get too cluttered with widgets and plugins that aren't necessary either, you've gotta keep your site easy to navigate otherwise people won't hang around for longer than they have too.
sorry about that big spiel.. I'm at work waiting until its home time haha
