STEVENS PASS THREAD!!

yawp that was me, your poleless self the reason I went down and asked if you were on NS, I think I actually would have been pretty shocked if you hadnt been~

Probably see you up there a bunch, especially after finals week~

I think I have seen you before. Do you ride around in a little posse of skiers? Probably all in HS im guessing. I think I saw that group under Tye once and one of you went off it and ate it pretty bad, like I have many times.

I think one of the kids is decked out in neon green oakley pants.

Nah, I rock a green suit and either Madens or Purple Lib Tech NAS. Wish I had EP's.

But seriously, who's the douchebag? They've got to be on NS if they're that immature.

Dude I yell that ALL the time. but i'm not 12 and I dont wear sessions and certainly never ride brooks, so it probably wasn't me.

anybody going up tomorrow?

Solid day, sick bluebird pow on the backside in the morning. After that still good but kinda meh. On another note I left my goggles hat and gloves on top of the car so I fail pretty hard, at least they were cheap. Also saw a big group of asians show up after closing while I was packing up from a full day bwaha~

I heard that stevens wont stay open past April 13th even if there's still plenty of snow. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

i think ther on contract with the national forest service or seomthing like lease the land for a certain period of time of the year. ask downhillkilla he say whats up

I'm pretty sure the main reason is lack of skier interest. I've also heard that they need to have a defined closing date when buying their insurance for the season, but thats a rumor it could be bullshit.

on average it takes any where from 8,000 to 10,000 dollars a day to keep the mountain open. even right now the visists we are getting are barely enought to keep the place up and running. we are basically keeping it open for our pass holders, and park riders. We close April 13th.

stevens is set to close on the 13th

and its all because its no longer "cost effective" at this point.

basically there just arent enough people going to the mountain to keep it open.

even though it would probably be ok to just keep skyline and hogsback open along with the park.

managment just wont have any of that for some reason

If they did that theyd have to scale back all of the staffing etc... might just be too big of a pain in the ass. That and a lot of gapers (who are paying for tickets) arent going to come up if theres only 2 lifts open, even though many of them probably just ski hogs and skyline... It doesnt sound appealing to many people to go skiing when its mostly closed. I cant really say for sure, just speculation. In any event I really wish they stayed open longer heh~

I'd just like to give a giant "fuck you" to those people a few pages back who were convinced it was the forest service and were sure I didn't know what I was talking about.

BTW it was pretty epic today.

Really? Dang, I woke up and saw 1 inch new and went back to sleep... Ill probably be up there tomorrow though~

Past 3 days have been sick.... First tracks and good snow=awsome. Cowboy ridge was slayed, Tye stick got scharlped, Roostercomb was money, and Pro line was perfect. Still haven't bagged the monster at the bottom though. Need to watch some people hit to get the speed down.

the skiing has definitely been good. A few inches in the right places can be very deep.

And if that monster you speak of is the bottom hit in the park, its pretty chill, it just needs a steeper landing

i wasn't sure thats why i asked if not then why? sorry for stating my opinion i didnt know you would think of it as a challenge,i guess you won so heres a giant round of applause for being a giant boner.

BTW good luck in the special olympics, i heard everyones a winner though so dont stress.

Fucking awesome day today. Ripped fresh lines the entire fucking day. It was deeper on monday, but man it was light today. There were way more gapers out today compared to shredders... retarded amount of good lines untouched. Also, traffic in monroe and everett can suck my dick~

well today was pretty much amazing. had to come back early but whatever. this morning we got up there around 830 and hit seventh right away and got face shot everywhere then hiked up the left ridge from tye really good snow there. met a guy with ep pros and a red jacket(if your on ns holler) . then the snow got really heavy on the backside after 1200 but all and all good day.

Oh that was me! Kind of poached you lol but im sure it was still killer for you. Yeah a wicked day for tree skiing and some great runs in the morning. Fucking wild spring break this year~

Ohhhh how I wanna go up tomorrow. I went up Monday and it was incredibly light snow. One of the best days of the year for sure.

I hit the monster at the bottom of the park, I didnt see anyone else hit it all day. Lets put it this way, I am lucky I didnt get a concussion. I am ok at park but I have never hit anything that big and when I hit it i kicked backseat and started flailing at what felt like 40ft in the air and totally overshot the landing. I hit that fucker at top speed thinking that I needed every last bit to clear it, but that thing has some kick and in no time I was soaring over the knuckle and way down below. I left a bombhole, landing on my ribs and ragdolling down. It was complete carnage, shook me up for a while. I should have gotten seriously hurt but walked away with just a hurt thumb.

^ well uhhh....

lookin at ur pics, u are a freaking tank. A beast and a half. I'm not surprised that you werent hurt, but good thing you werent either way.

aaaannndddd....no homo

Haha well yeah I am a pretty built guy, especially for a skier. I can take a pretty good shot and shake it off, but I was freaking out flailing at something that big. I was thinking concussion once I knew I overshot and was wayyy backseat.
