STEVENS PASS THREAD!!

stevens basically rents the land from the forrest service for a certain amount of days each year. a number of days that is decided upon at the beginning of the year and is not going to change no matter how much snow we get. and even if they had the choice they probably wouldnt keep it open since gapers seasons are far done by april and really not that many people ride to keep it open, especially during the week.

reviewing today's telemetry data shows the hourly precip number continually increasing, while the total snowpack number decreases

hmmmmmm

oh...........its fucking raining

WOW AWESOME! you are so core!

Why dont you share if you are such an insider and everyone else is under the same understanding as ebang

im not talking about whistler buying the forest service out im saying they bought stevens out. so i thought that the change of the owner would affect how long they would be open. and so far there has been tons of changes in stevens so i didn't know sorry if i reflect to you guys as an idiot.

by blackcomb you really meant INTRAWEST, which most definitely has not purchased stevens. Crystal is under new ownership this year, but stevens is not. Chris rudolph is just mixing shit up a bunch in a very good way

Stevens closes because of lack of skier interest not any forest service requirements. That is just a rumor which is encouraged by the area.

^^^ I asuming they took the two hits that were there and replaced it with a big guy. My buddy was up today and said it was probaly 85ft or so. So pro-line is someting like waterfall, then left to step up, to one light jump with huge landing, to very large jump by the pipe. Is Junks and Jr's jumps still up? Find out on tuesday. Saftey Meeting then time to go big!

I've heard many numbers thrown around for the last jump. It's big, but I'm guessing it's not pushing 85 feet. But it is delightful, don't get me wrong.

As for juniors and junks, those jumps are gone. But other features (potentially yummy features) should take their stead in the coming weeks, which should be delightful.

That last jump was roped off around four a clock it looked like. Yesterday was a hell of a day with the sun out and warm temps, just wearing a fleece instead of a heavy ass jacket. Good times, wish I could be back up there right now.

Saw your sw 7 yesterday it was dope....However they shrunk the jump...on thursday (friday too i believe) it was quite a bit bigger probably in the 85 range

many more switch 7s were thrown today, and 9s, and 10s... zero spins, cork 7s, cork 9s

The jump got pretty much destroyed by the Stevens pass local talent, there were all sorts of people that I've never even met! There was a time when I knew everyone who could a cork 7, its awesome to see some telented new people, so props to you guys.

Anyways plenty more tricks need to be thrown on that jump, I'd like to see a switch rightside 10 from Grant. I'd like to see some really dope cork 3s and 5s as well.

I wonder if we'll even get another sunny day to hit that jump...

Ah wish I was up there today. It was such a sunny day and i'm sure you guys killed it!

At least I got my boots fixed...I think my toe nail will fall off in a month or two. First time for everything!

Pre determined closing date due to lack of skier interest that late in the year. It takes a lot of money to keep the ski area running and getting into april not that many people are still thinking about skiing. That time of the year most of the skiers are season pass holders anyways and the resort doesn't get ticket sales.

I've also heard that insurance plays a role too (ie they have to buy the insurance for a set amount of time at the beginning of the year) but that may or may not be true.

i dont have a park pass...didn't find any of you fools today. Iwas too busy trying to have "fun" on the backside but I gave up

most you probably don't know him but a snowboarder named Dane got airlifted today....scary shit.

word is hes going to be fine though

Man I just got back from Whistler and thought I was gonna miss the amazing setup there, but FUCK Stevens looks to be on top of it. I just wish it wasn't a 2 hours drive! I'll still be hitting it up every weekend and after school as much as I can though. It looks nice. This year Stevens is definitely stealing me from being more of a Snoq guy. Stevens FTW! Man I am gonna lose a lota gas money. I think I might go today. Whos goin?

While were talking about how amazing the park is that jump needs to have the landing widened on the skiers left. whenever people were going corked they were landing maybe 5 feet away from the edge of the landing.

they have every intention of widening it. personally, it was plenty wide. After riding hood and shit over many summers with high consequence, narrow jumps, you learn jumps well.
