People Who Dont Tip

Bahaha... Being able to believe that about me WOULD make you feel better about yourself, wouldn't it?

Too bad I'm about to hop in my new company car, drive to the post office box to pick up another nice fat check for some side work I did, then go have a sit down with the VP of a fortune 50 company to hash out the details of the product next lines I'm taking over production for and outsourcing through my company before I leave early and head out to Fenway for a Red Sox game.

I'll give it to you though, you were right about one thing- there's absolutely a reason I work this job. Way to put me in my place though broseph, you sure showed me!

Meh, I'd give you a 3/10. There's already so many AR6rider clone shit talkers on here you've got to bring your A game to really come out on top.

Better luck next time though.

Yeah, this. I don't expect them to go above and beyond or any of that shit, just do your job right and you'll get a tip. I've never not-tipped, if I find the service shitty I just leave a really small one, like 5% or something.

Definitely feel good about leaving a nice tip for a good server and will always leave at least the %15 (unless it's maybe $8.75 then I'll probably just leave $10 if I have a 10 $ bill)

when I don't tip: waiting at a bar trying to get a bartender's attention only to keep being passed over to serve females instead then to finally get served only to have him spend 5 second reaching back, grabbing a bottle, and taking the top off. They do not deserve any tip at all.

How the fuck am I an asshole. I tip people who earn it, and I tip well. Delivery is a fucking service, I pay extra for it. Tips are a luxury reward I you get for exceptional service. There is no fucking way to be an exceptional pizza delivery worker, so I don't tip.

that's why youre an asshole, because you choose to ignore the fact that they are performing a service for you, have wear and tear on their car, and don't get paid well at all. and you probably choose to do so because youre cheap and don't mind acting stupid to save a few bucks on the service youre receiving

which is all completely within your rights but don't be surprised that people observe that youre an asshole

I pay for delivery. Minimum wage is $10 an hour where I live, and if they don't make enough money doing delivery it's fucking easy to find another job. If money isn't made off of the service then the service would not be offered.

However I am far from being cheap. I have never been cheap in my life. I'm not a spoiled loaded brat, but I am not cheap

I don't have an alias. Not really frightened to speak my mind on my account. Don't care if I look like an asshole either. Oh yea, subway has a tip option too, I'd never tip a fucking subway employee. Maybe if they were really nice and awesome. Bt if they just do their job and make my sandwich, I wouldn't ever tip them

The person providing the service agreed to provide that service under the assumption that tips are not mandatory. The service provider agreed to take that ~2.55/hr job. So unlike most people in this thread, I couldn't give two shits if someone does not tip. Boo Hoo.

If you're a waiter/taxi driver/bartender and are complaining in this thread about not getting tipped; get a new fucking job because you clearly need thicker skin.

That said, I do give tips myself.

Finally!

Fuck, this whole attitude of servers automatically being entitled to a tip for doing their job is going to be the back behind their shitty service to the customers. Getting tipped is a privilege for good service. I always tip when I get good service, and I tip 15-25% based on how good they were

I tipped 18% last night at dinner. Two nights before that I tipped 0%.

Do your job well, smile and be happy or dont expect a tip. Its really simple.

Oh yea. Also I do tip pizza delivery drivers. Only like $2. But I do. I just don't think they deserve a tip

the delivery service is profitable because most people tip, you're too dumb to realize that if you universalize your approach that it would no longer be profitable and wouldn't exist in its current form. you're just taking advantage of the situation and failing at trying to jusitfy it.

I am a fine dinning server, been serving for over 10 years. The restaurant I work at is very expensive. I provide over the top service. What pisses me off more then anything else is when I give exceptional service and get a 10%-%15% tip, sometimes less. We have these comment cards that we stuff in the check presenters. It's not cool when people give the food and the service 5 stars, but then tip 10%. I agree if the waiter provides shit service then he doesn't deserve a good tip. But if the server provides good service, then a 18% tip is the minimum someone should tip. I am firm believer that it should be mandatory that everyone work at least 1 day at a restaurant. It will change your outlook on the food service industry. Maybe working at Denny's or a burger place is easy, but when you work at a nice establishment with high expectations it is far harder then it seems on the outside.

"find another job" this just shows that youre the type of person who wants to have these services but doesnt care if the pay is so low that no one person can remain in it for any significant amount of time and it has to be a revolving door

"if money isnt made off the service then the service would not be offered" great critical thinking there man.. the restaurant/owner decides if that's a service or not, not the dude carrying it out. the restaurant makes more money off this service, the delivery guy does not

you can tell me youre not cheap all day but when you are voluntarily not paying someone for their service it isn't an opinion, it's just fact that youre cheap

look at it this way-- if your lack of tipping wasnt made up for by normal people who tip decently, the delivery service most likely wouldnt be able to happen because the restaurant probably wouldnt be able to/want to make up the difference

K well I don't know where you guys are that drivers get paid $2 an hour. But where I live it's about $10 an hour to drive around a company car.

I'm not going to admit defeat. The pizza deliveries I've gotten are by company cars by kids who get paid well by the hour.

If places would let me walk into the kitchen and get my food so i didn't have to pay someone 5$ to walk it to me i would.

Same.

But I don't get the logic of people in here. When I order pizza, it usually costs me an extra $5 or so to get it delivered. I'm paying to have it brought to me.

How to fuck is having pizza delivered lazy? Who here tips the fucking mail lady? Why don't we all go to our banks to get our bank statement instead of it showing up in the mail?? Laziness?

I'm not tipping a kid who is making $10 an hour to roll up in a Boston pizza car to drop off my pizza and collect my money.

All these people going on about how serving is soooooo hard. Jesus, it's 4-6 hour shifts. I enjoy serving, you make a lot of money and barely work that Long. I've never had problems getting tipped, however I do find all the servers I work with that whine and cry about tips are NOT good servers. Their tables always have empty drinks, lack of napkins, forgotten orders, delays, and the servers themselves are not very interested or personable with the tables.

Anyways. If people on here think I'm cheap, that's fine. I just drove to the local homeless hang out in town and gave them 12 garbage bags filled with cans and some old clothes. That was probably 40-50$ of cans.

Yeah, because going behind the bar to fix your own drink is totally ok.

Tipping (the whole system) is stupid.

Anyone who thinks they don't need to leave a tip, is a cunt, and has clearly never worked a tipped job.

You do realize we live in a fucking society right?

I have been serving for 3 years now (part-time server/bartender sometimes) and I hate it. I cannot wait to get out of it. The only reason I've stuck with serving is the flexibility and money I make. As a full-time student taking the maximum amount of classes I can't work a lot, but for the hours I work I make great money. The schedule is flexible enough that if I need to I can take time off whenever I need it or get more shifts I want them and it allows me to focus on school and ski at the same time. The downside is having to deal with people. I will always expect a tip because that's how it works in Canada but I always go above and beyond for my tables and try and give 110% whenever I'm at work. I'm still grateful when someone tips me 18% + because generally i will expect 10% ( and yes I do like to think I am a great server, I've been told my service is excellent quite often). I do believe 100% though that tips should definitely be based off of the quality of service provided. When I go out to eat I'm generally pretty understanding when I see one server struggling to keep up with a busy restaurant I know the server won't be at my table every 5 seconds to check on me, but if the restaurant is dead and there are 3 servers standing around chatting and playing with their hair and my food comes out wrong and my drink is empty, then fuck you.

People think serving is a simple job, and unless you're a brainless moron then yes it is, i mean how hard is it to remember an order and punch it into a computer, but the hard part is dealing with people who treat you like shit and think they are above you or that you're their personal servant for the night or having men old enough to be your father hitting on you in front of their buddies. I think everyone should have a retail or serving job once in their life so they have first hand experience of what it's like to be treated the way most people treat servers or retail workers. Also whatever you do, do not ever snap at a waitress.

I wish we could just get away from the whole tip thing and have employers pay their staff what the deserve. Then if you provide service above what is expected you have chance for a tip.

40 billion dollars is tipped each year in the us. And no im not going to give a dollar tip every time i pay 3.50 for a shitty bud light

i'd say that's expensive for a bud light.

i can get a pint of good beer for $2.

also, when I buy said $2 pint, I usually tip $1 each time if im paying cash. if not, $2 up front and then a few bucks more to my receipt. if im with people that are ordering mixed drinks, ill put more down as a tip.
