Did Tom say something about the mute grab becoming the auclair grab or something? I might have just been hearing things

I think this was something switching up in the ski community for a while now. “Mute” is an insensitive term. Why not honour the man who made the grab iconic?

I’m almost done watching qualifiers right now, Matej is my current favorite skier. His antics are hilarious and his second run may be my favorite slope run ever

Every remote ever made insensitive now ?

It's because the skateboarder who first did it was deaf so people started calling a mute grab. A little insensitive.

The grab in skating was named after Chris weddle, a deaf skater, but was called mute even though he's not mute. I think Tony hawk wants to change the name and that probably just entered into skiing too.

Anyone else feel like Coly got the best vibes like dude is always stoked even though hes competitive. Still not the same without Edollo though :(

Surprising that more guys don’t start with an easier rail line, land it, and then try something harder once a score is in the bag.

Facking sick slope event. I was yelling from my desk the whole time working.

if y’all have any broadcast questions on this stuff, let me know. Great time being the insider!

stay tuned for pipe, I won’t be working it, I’ll be over at Ski Cross, but I’ll be here to watch those events go down. Mens Finals is on Friday here, and I get to watch it before I fly home. Should be a good event

Damn Ragettli we know you lost but you don’t need to act younger than matej and chuck your skis everywhere

LFG A-Hall and Jesper!!!!!

Shoutout AHall for the new planks. Threw some bones on him at 6/1 and slammed. Wells Fargo was disappointed but they didn't understand it was an investment. Tail tips and shiftys are always cash.

By my count there were only about a dozen runs landed top to bottom out of 33 total, and probably only half of those were clean. Kinda disappointing. Wish there were more competitive scores at the top.

A hall deserved it. Fun to watch but a bit of a let down that not many complete runs top to bottom. Progression has made it near impossible to make a clean run

Matej's last rail line was so on point. Really enjoyed his switch two tail tap. Birk rudd killed the rails too. Stoked on the podium, glad for Jesper.

Wish there was more hype/media coverage for guys like Alex hall when they win events like this. Back when Shaun white won his first gold he was turned into household name. Even Eileen gu and Chloe Kim get way more coverage and probably way more money.

rip matej, shit was so clean

He is so fun to watch, there’s almost more passion and personality in his skiing than dollo’s. Totally in a lane of his own right now. He’s gonna be fun to watch for years to come

I'm going to hype up ahall as much as possible to my coworkers tomorrow.

WTF ever happened to style points!

Judges have gotten way too technical with their bullshit calls!

May as well be judging frickin' Aerials!

Total Olympic FIS crap.

I felt creativity was awarded, hence ahall in the 90s with an original run and ragettli in the 70s with a very clean but unimaginative run.

I'm all for that. I don't care that much who won, just want to see less BS judging.

Suckers take all the fun out of it.

"Oh he touched a hand"

"Oh he did not grab long enough"

etc. etc.

Some rad style got dissed.

As far as A Hall, and Goepper, they both killed it, so no issues, but shit........I'm tired of it getting so technical on scoring.

Love how y’all love the camera guy chasing Andri with his hissy fit.

ill make sure the camera guy knows he’s loved ❤️

Ask him for the extra footage of Spaghetti crying. NS will do a collective buy for the footage.

It was a dope course and I like the podium, but there’s something about judging that isnt right.

i think it’s that the overall impression score is too much of a % - when its used to deduct significantly for any bobble, and doesnt seem to reward style. Take the overall down to 10% and the rest is based on scores by feature…

Andri got underscored, and plenty of people here shitting on him for dealing with it poorly wouldn't do any better with that sort of disappointment in what has to be the biggest single moment of his entire life so far. Cut him some slack. My favorite moment was Max pulling that cork 4 out of nowhere after the mishap on the first rail.

I hear ya, I’ve never understood the full reasoning behind his hate there. He throws down hard and is a very impressive and decorated skier. Is it just his style and straight skiing?

Even if you’re upset though, hucking your skis into a mix zone doesn’t look good on ya. This isn’t your first rodeo bud.

That cannon rail seemed like it was a little flat on the takeoff off. People adapted to it but never looked that smooth.

That's just as a spectator though. Could have been fine

So stoked Jesper finally gets some recognition. Goepper solid as always. Liked his creative line on the side hit/QP transfer thing. A Hall nailed it. I kinda thought Colby would have medaled, his run was bonkers in some ways but so was A Hall’s. Looks like that rainbow down rail was messing up people at the end (Colby and Jesper and I think another). Andri def should have been more aware that a camera is maybe watching but give the guy a break. He just came off a broken leg not too long ago and not putting a run down when you’re a favorite has to be frustrating too. I will say - I don’t understand the sheer delight people have in his misery. I think he’s a gymnast with no style but people used to say the exact same shit about Nick

I’m surprised more people were taking the upright cannon. I was talking with one of the Austrian ladies earlier this week, and she was saying the cannons go deep, and you don’t need a ton of speed. So I’m wondering if they just had too many speed checks or issues.

It looked weird in the transition. Even for the snowboarders who do better with pole jammy style ones. Just seemed like the skiers had to pop hard or butter to get it.

Obviously they're pretty good at skiing so they can step to anything but seemed a little wonky.

Again basing it off of watching a few people hit it on my tv so idk.

Could just be the weird wave shape of the takeoff snd not impacting the riding but just looking weird and i was linking the two in my head.

It was a pretty standard pole jam cannon, my local park in Lake Louise has one the same size. It’s the landing that goes forever. The Austrian I was talking to said it was so easy to go big on it, and then that would probably mess up your transition into the skew jumps.

The waveness of the feature was purely aesthetics.

Happy with the outcome of the mens slopestyle... but did anyone else think that scoring was whack?

I'm not sure how Fabian Bosch's first run scored a 70 something?

Same with quite a few other runs i was expecting mid 80's at least that were scored mid to high 70's?

I'm glad USA won gold and silver but I wasn't too sure about how Hall scored a 90.05?

Andre Ragettli had some monstrous runs with perfect rails with some low scores...
