Tail grab is:

Tail grab: inside edge, on the tail (closer to the rounded part as possible)

Blunt: capped - or grabbing the true end of the ski.

Stale: opposite ski from opposite side, outside edge near the tail (so left ski grabed with right hand from the right side)

Grabbing tail on the inside (like the opposite of tindy) is called toxic. Don’t hear it much these days but that’s what it was called.

I think tail grab is more general “not fully capped blunt” to either side, where as toxic is inside a bit further from the cap, and tindy is outside a bit further.

cuban would be a blunt on the opposite ski (left hand grabbing blunt on right ski) and stale would be almost like a tindy on the opposite ski (grabbing the outside edge of the right ski but with the left hand…going past Cuban to get there).

Does anyone know what the format will be like? I imagine it’s best run and not best two runs or anything like that!? 3 total runs?

Best of two runs for Qualies, then best of 3 for finals.

How’s the weather today? Are we going to have a show?

and yes I’m more excited about Womens slope qualifying than the Superblow

She snowed all day into the night yesterday, but it’s cold, clear, and crisp this morning. The nice thing about that storm is that it was dust on crust. Not a heavy snow. So I don’t think too much of the course was affected.

Looks like Caroline Claire just blew out her knee again during training. Poor girl :(

And I bet it really feels like she’s in China now. Thats gonna be a long flight home.

it seems the judges don't make any distinction between straight up axis and misty/rodeo/cork/bio/ for the women. that's a huge miss imo. it discourages these ladies from stepping up.

and yeah kelly, it's time to see you dip a shoulder!

women finals will be much better with 3 run format. then the boys can step in and crush this thing for all it's worth.

The Canadian broadcast showed footage of Dumonts road gap cork 3 from revolver and Bobby browns first triple cork while Megan Oldham was talking about Bruce lmao

The schedule says qualifiers are rescheduled so are they actually on at 11:30 est tonight or is the time TBA

I think it says that because it was reschedules from yesterday to today.

just spend 5 bucks and spare the trouble? this kinda stuff still blows my mind.

Idk I guess I thought it was more lol. I don’t have tv or anything so I’ve never really looked into it.

yeah, $5 gets you a peacock sub for a month and you can cancel after.

Anyone have a login for peacock?

I think if you’ve already got a VPN subscription you might be able to watch coverage from outside the US for free. I can’t confirm that, though - I’ve been using Peacock.

get a vpn, 5 bucks a month. i watch the olympics on cbc online streaming, it’s great and no ads and free.

man literally just subscribe to peacock for 5 / month and move on with your life.

spend $5 and 2 hours to save $5.

Cold and cloudy today, with the slightest bit of snow falling.

With Marin falling at the end there yesterday, she’s still qualified. If she isn’t in condition to ski today, she’ll be a DNS, and it’ll just be 11 ladies competing today.

It’s weird, and unfortunate for Megan Oldham, but points are points ?‍♂️

Sounds like it's worth getting the VPN service and watching on CBC just for the lack of adds.

idk the ads have been pretty mellow, idgaf about ads anyway but understandable. $10 gets you ad free peacock, you could probably run an adblocker if you really cared enough.

I hope Eileen and Kelly both put down clean runs first go so they both go hard runs 2 and 3 and we see something crazy. Does Kelly have any dubs?

There's so much damn talent. Here's my top 5, but so many things can happen!

Colby Stevenson

Alex Hall

Harlaut

Moffatt

Woodsy

Woodsy can put down. Hoping to see him have more success tonight.

Better get your popcorn ready. These boys are hungry for this park. Watching them train is really just something else. The variety that’s going down on the rail section is bonkers

I dont watch many comps but the women's slope was pretty sick to watch. Its cool to see the women putting down some steezy dubs in a comp run. Anastasia Tatalina's dub 14 was pretty fuckin sick to see too

What’s up with woodsy?

From his Insta:

"Well… Eight years later to the day and once again in some uncanny, ironic, sadistic, joke of a coincidence I’m again full of pain killers and strapped up in bed the night before Olympic Slopestyle. Unfortunately this morning my back completely seized up due to heavy landings throughout the Big Air event and Slopestyle practice and I’ve been unable to move freely or without pain all day. Obviously my head is screwed on straight and I have a rad team sensibly helping me get dialled. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully I wake up from a good sleep feeling ready for action. I will absolutely be out there and will give everything I can to shred my hardest.

It’s just so hard to believe that this is happening again, in Sochi it was my hip after a specific crash in practice but the feeling of un-readiness and doubt are all too familiar. I just wanted to record these thoughts and make a clear example to those who might possibly be inspired by what I do. Nothing is ever perfect, even when everything works out and you nail on all possible preparations, there are still challenges and hurdles to push through right up until the very last seconds. Chin up, focus and remember why you’re doing this. For me, I’m here because I want to be."

Goepper’s creativity way underscored IMO, they always like to talk about how it’s not aerials but when it comes down to it most of the score is how many rotations you do through the jumps.

Looked like He Jinbo was going for a trailing seatbelt on that last hit. I really hate how Chinese skiers are ruining the sport by turning it into aerials.
