Official Tahoe Thread

I'm trying to find out if they are gonna have spectators or if its gonna be a private type thing. I'm gonna be up either way though. It's March 30th.

A patroller buddy mentioned it being somewhere over in the west bowl out the way. Powderhorn? maybe.

Would love to be able to get up there for then.

You can see it if you go through Bashful. That steep hill you take to get to Bashful is the run up. I forget the name of the run but its right there.

Yea. Somewhere over there. Have to admit I never really pay attention to names of the runs. Makes for bullshit explanations when trying to find any friends lost somewhere.

Wish the comp was the day after..

NSer CALLOUT.

chick reppin a newschoolers hoodie earlier today (sunday) at squaw, lapping the park. gave a shout out but no acknowledgment. i was on park crew.

REVEAL YOURSELF!!

I was up today, they made Bashful smaller for the invitational but it was still way fun. Icy till like 11 then slush till like 2-ish then you pretty much have to leave because its garbage after that.

Prob gonna hit up sierra tomorrow. Haven't gone skiing in like 3 weeks because I got all lazy + massive fucking toebang that caused my toenail to fall off 3 days ago

Good that it's colder because slush condition was so bad. Slight carving on the bashful triple jumps and landed on a knuckle because I couldn't go fast enough

Herring lots of hype on Sugar Bowl. Anyone ride there regularly? Is it as good as I hear? Looks to have very similar terrain to squaw with a much better park.

the parl is pretty bad this year but they do have great terrain. Its also much smaller but pretty much every lift is high speed .

I went to sugar bowl a few weeks ago and that whole large park was just gone. Rollers where it looked like jumps used to be. They had a small but fun 4 pack of jumps. All the landings were flat though. All the rail takeoffs were step downs to the features. Looked like it could be really fun if they did some actual work.

Thanks for the input. I am going to have to take a few runs there before the season is over to get a good idea.

Honesty. Squaw is up there with the best of em. Friendly people, quality features and the rest of the mountain ain't half bad either.

Might get one last trip up to Tahoe. Squaw might be the last stop.

ate shit all day at boreal. can't believe i still can't stomp 3s

at least i have rails down. i'm comfortable with both straight and urban ons and switch outs. big progression day today haha

5 and 2 are dope. jump 1 should just be a tabled box or rail imo, that jumps weird.rail wise everything is dope. Fuck that closeout though haha

hoping there will still be a park at squaw as soon as this ridiculous black out ends for the sierra pass. would be nice to end the season there on a good note.

hey im looking for some serious advice.

next year i will be moving out of my house (south reno) and want some input on what passes i should get. i will be at or close to UNR since i will be going there. i currently ski at mt rose and want to go somewhere different. i will for sure be getting a boreal pass for the days after work or when i have a couple hours to burn. the boreal pass is only weekdays if i get the cheap college pass, which i plan on for the downtime i previously mentioned.

since it is blacked out on weekends, i want a pass to a bigger and better resort that i can use on weekends.

OPTION 1) my first thought was Northstar because it is the closest to UNR and i have heard really good things about the parks there. since there is no only Northstar pass, i would have to get the tahoe local pass which includes Northstar, Kirkwood, and Heavenly. i probably would not go to Heavenly or Kirkwood on a regular basis but i guess it would be fine. this pass is 399 for college students and has limited black out dates.

OPTION 2) there is an additional option. the tahoe super pass which includes Squaw-Alpine and sierra @ tahoe. this is also 399. i would mainly ride at Squaw the only downfall is it is further away than Northstar. this pass has no blackout dates.

so i am left with a dilema, tahoe local pass or the tahoe super pass? i have heard both places have a pretty killer park. but there are pros and cons, Northstar is close but not as big as Squaw-Alpine, and Squaw is big but further away. keep in mind i will also have the boreal pass. both are the same price. so if you have experience with either places or even both please send me some advice on which to purchase.

i would really love to hit these main questions ( and any other info is greatly appreciated!!)

1-who has the better park in your opinion?

2-which has better all mountain skiing?

3-are there any perks to either pass other than the skiing?

4-which would you personally recommend?

5- odd question, but which has a better vibe?

thank you to whoever responds to this plea for help. im sure i would be happy at either resort, i just cant seem to be able to find a clear victor. you can PM me or quote me in this thread, either is greatly appreciated!

I have the Tahoe local pass and love it but i spend most of my time at kirkwood... I honestly would say that since you're already getting an awesome park by getting the boreal pass, you should go for the squaw/alpine pass so you have more variety! Both have a really fun vibe too

Smart thinking. I would go the same route also. Sierra has an under rated park also. Nothing like Northstar but its always way fun.

+1 for the Sierra pass.

I had an Epic pass this season. Rode NorthStar a couple times. Spent most of my season smashing Sierra. Nicer people all over. They care more about the people. Waaaay better vibe there imo

@p_black

I'm in the same situation. Rose is getting really boring.

I'm probably gonna join the unr ski/ board club though and get a pass with them. Then I can do some racing and I don't know for sure but I think I heard there is a park team that does slopestyle too

pblack... get the squaw/pine pass alpine is prob my favorite park in tahoe and they have some really good terrain once you get to know the muntain. squaw alwas has really fun jumps in the spring but the only reason i stay away from squaw is the mass amounts of poeple who think they are the shit and lift lines suck.

i can get to squaw in 1 hour from south reno with no traffic taking 80. about and hour 15 taking rose over.

i find n* has the most pricey food out of all tahoe. the cheapest thing is a 5 dollar waffle.

in the end id say squaw/alpine because you have 2 sweet parks and 2 sweet mountains with in a 10 min drive of each other. with the tahoe local you have 2 good parks (n* heavenly) and one mountain for cliffs and shit but they are all more than an hour apart and 2/3 of them are over an hour from unr.

and depending on what kinda car you have gas adds up real fast if youre riding 4+ days a week

sorry this post is a shit show but i forgot to add sierra is a dpoe mountain with pow, lots of hidden stashes. heavenly has a killer park that i think is pretty underrated, lots of big jibs to get creative on

I had full Epic this year and it was a great decision (got the full one b/c I knew I'd be traveling from Iowa to Arizona for work so would do Summit) since I used 3 days in Vail and when there met someone to use the 3 days in Verbier with. Year before I just got a Rose pass b/c I knew I'd be losing my license and would have to take busses and it worked out OK. 2 for 2 on good pass decisions.

Vail resorts called me last week and I renewed the Epic (put the 50 bucks down) and I sort of regret it and wish I had just gotten the Squaw/Sierra Gold pass. The goodSquaw pass gives you 50% off lift tickets at almost all the best resorts in the US like Whistler and Mammoth. And I really only like Kwood for the Epic I didn't use Heavenly even 1 day this year and did about 5 at N* but that was only because I wanted to get a few quick runs in in a couple hours. Summit Co sucks too and 2 years in a row skiing the alps is prolly a stretch I don't think I can afford it next year.

IDK what I'll do I don't want to buy a full epic and Squaw gold. Might do Kwood only or Tahoe local and then Squaw gold pass if I think I'll travel to other areas. Or might do both of the cheapest ones and not ski blackout days and have a more chilled out season and bounce between all the tahoe resorts with Squaw bronze and either Kwood only or Epic Local.

Chances are good that'd I'd be down for a trip from SC too.

Been mentioned a few times recently on the boat about a Tahoe trip.
