LOL when kids think an XC trail is gnarly tech and you have to be a "god" to ride it.

LOL when grown adults think acting like a child on the internet is entertaining, let alone funny

Scotty boy I'm still waiting for you to come ride with me. Hmu. I'm PCs finest. I'm thinking we would make a sick duo with you being an ugly ginger and me being an ugly blonde dude

Honzo ST frame and Wolf Tooth angleset acquired. Now I just need some cut off jeans and a denim vest.

Installing my Wolftooth Angleset was a quite pleasant experience, the 3d printed offset press cups were a very nice touch.

My Kona Woo is just a Honzo that ate too much at thanksgiving dinner

If anyone want to do what may be the shittiest dh race ever, me and [tag=275484]@doubleblackjack[/tag] are having one in PA july 10-11, message me for the deets. Please, we’re desperate

Definitely not an official organized race, but it should still be a good time with some cool people

damn wish i lived nearby

Sold my Spur frame. Got sad looking at the pile of parts I took off it. Bought a Honzo ST frame, threw a -2° Wolf Tooth headset in there, and transferred everything straight over. Back to having a fun bad ideas and big days bike, but for like $2k less. Now I just need to decide if I'm gonna leave it at 120 mm, or bump it up to 140 when my service kit comes in.

Ha! The Silky saw has actually been living on the downtube of both my bikes this spring. We've had a lot of blowdown and it's handy to have, although I do get some weird looks riding jump trails with it strapped on.

Just get a nordic pocket saw, fits in any pocket and can cut bigger trees than a folding saw.

I've experimented with those, and while they're sweet, I don't feel like I can cut as quickly and efficiently with one as I can with the Silky, but that could be a technique thing.

Opening day at Snowmass bike park yesterday was so much fun. Love weekday openings. Mostly empty trails, but couldn't even leave the parking lot without running into friends. It always amazes me how different the muscles you use for DH are vs trail. Did 2.5 hours straight of lift riding (including 2 top to bottoms) and feel more sore and tired today, than when I did a 20 mile ride with 3k vert of climbing/descending a couple weeks ago. Even the same muscles get used differently. I haven't been sore from a trail ride in I don't remember how long. But day one on DH got me sore as shit.

Feels good to be back on the DH rig though. If any of you get out to Aspen/Snowmass/Roaring Fork Valley area and want to ride, give me a shout.

i really find this same thing descending at the start of the year. I am in the best shape i've ever been from skiing and being on the trainer all winter, so climbing i feel great, but going down all the jiggles and pumping different parts of my arms and legs are just on fire by the bottom. also i find when i ride bike park i get even sorer because i never warm up my legs on the climbs like i normally would. and bike park trails are beat to shit most of the time so that doesn’t help

always have to get in shape for the downs lol

Doing an Enduro race this Saturday and I'm feeling underprepared but excited. All but one of the stages are trails I have not ridden before and I won't be able to get out there for a pre-ride in the next couple of days, so I hope my blind-riding skills can keep up with the excitement of racing.

I haven't done nearly enough mountain biking this spring, and the riding I have done has been on my hardtail. So I'm going on the first ride on the big squishy bike this evening for a shakedown and hopefully I will be able to fit another ride in tomorrow and won't need to spend too much time wrenching on Friday evening.

All I'm hearing are a bunch of fucking excuses for when you inevitably end up last.

U right, I hate people who make excuses. I'm certainly not going to be anywhere near the podium but I'M damn sure not coming in last, so lemme correct myself.

PRERIDING IS FOR CHUMPS, I ONLY RACE BLIND BECAUSE I'M A MAN. I NEVER RIDE A TRAIL MORE THAN ONCE AND ONLY HAVE ONE FUCKING SPEED: FULL FUCKING GASSSS. I'M THE BEST GODDAMN MOUNTAIN BIKER ON THE MOUNTAIN, I'M GONNA RIP THE SHIT OUT OF THIS.

THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGING WORDS SCOTTYBOY.

I’m hosting a semi organized race in September most likely

All I'm hearing is some little bitch listing off excuses. Keep going, we're all so intrigued.

i really need to stop having the longest most painful crashes right at the end of my race runs.

My sisters 5010 C has a busted dropper that won't lock in place so I'm wondering what the issue is

Guessing it has a reverb on it. Toss that bitch (or do a wolf tooth cable conversion) and get a different dropper.

This. If it says "Rockshox" on it you're toast. Throw a PNW, OneUp, or basically anything else on, and party on. It's not good for the planet, but unless you've got some special mojo, Reverbs are unreliable and really hard to fix.

Mulleted my Clash. So far everything I heard about 29 vs 27.5 is relatively accurate. You give up a bit of playfulness to gain capability. Might grab an offset bushing to bring the BB back down a little, feeling less “in” the bike and more “over” it with the new geo. Otherwise super happy with it. Duct taped rim holding air pretty good too.

I forgot it's the weekend in PC and trails are buttfucked currently. Too many hiker groups and trail runners. Gonna go take hot laps somewhere with a DH flow section.

Hell yeah dude. I shouldn't have rode mid mtn earlier and just went for hot laps, but I stopped at the Arcylon trailhead omw down to SLC for a quickie.

just another reason to support your local shop -

showed up needed a fork service and some drivetrain work done (I would learn myself but I have negative time each day some how), gave them a 6-pack of Mac&Jacks and a starbucks gift card, bike was done in a day.

Then they sold me a hoodie for 50% off just cuz.

gotta love the local homies

I grabbed some stuff up the street and had the bike mechanic teach me all about what's good for basic maintenance so hell yeah. Picked up some new tools and grips

Has anyone ever had a dropper post stuck all the way up? I have a oneup and I come home after a week and it won’t go down. I was thinking maybe it was because of heat expansion possibly?

Could be a seized cable in the housing or maybe it just needs some slick honey under the collar. I'd guess the former most likely. Or it needs a rebuild, luckily the oneup is very easy to service on your own. Just contact their warranty department and they'll probably send you a kit for free.

Helenduro was an absolute blast, and I am looking forward to doing it again next year and hopefully more races.

After waiting for what felt like ages to drop into Stage 1, including a course hold for a hiker that was adamant that he needed to hike up the course, the rider immediately ahead of me went down hard and I waited with him until medical could arrive, then since it was only about 15% of the way down the stage I shouldered my bike and hiked back up to the start gate to get my re-run. It was rocky as hell, but I was feeling a bit smoother after the first section, then about 30' after where the rider went down I got my feet knocked off my pedals when my poor line choice resulted in smacking my crank and BB into a tire-width rock pinch, and rode unclipped through a rocky section and somehow regained composure without losing too much momentum, but then in the last third of the stage caught up to the rider ahead of me (even after an extra 1.5 minute wait at the start gate for them) and they wouldn't let me pass. I announced my presence and asked to pass multiple times but it seemed like either they couldn't hear me or were just tunnel-visioned into getting through their stage and didn't even realize that I was behind, but then another rider caught up to me, and then another and there was nothing we could do but ride the last 25% of the stage at their pace since they wouldn't let us overtake and there wasn't a safe spot to pass more aggressively. A little bit of a bummer, but not too big of a deal, the guy two riders behind me was pretty pissed about it though.

Second stage was a semi-familiar trail and I had ridden it a couple years back. Much faster, less chunk, and more supportive corners. Overcooked it a bit into a loose flat corner and smashed my BB directly into a stump on the outside of the corner at a pretty good speed, got tossed around and rattled my bones a bit but managed to regain composure and didn't come off the bike. an inch to the left and I would have folded my chainring. The rest of the stage I just focused on riding smooth and precise and got up some good flow and speed through the second half, felt really good.

On the transfer to the third stage other riders were lamenting how much the upcoming stage sucks. No-one had a single good thing to say, pedal-y, chucky, loose, tight speed-killing switchbacks, one of the least enjoyable trails in the locale. It was pretty fuckin tough, it was loose, rocky, punchy climbs with wheel swallowing holes and off camber blind corners, quite a bit of pedaling, but I just tried to make up speed where I could, even had a few spots where I was able to get some airtime to float over some rocky bits, did a half-decent job of maintaining momentum to get up the punchy climbs and focused on getting round the tight switchbacks in anticipation for the final stage's even tighter and sketchier switchbacks.

The last stage was tough, there were some abrupt uphills that I managed to fuck up pretty good and had to just muscle my way through in too high of a gear, did my best to re-gain speed and had some pretty fun and fast line choices along the ridgeline, then was faced with the tightest, sketchiest, switchbacks I've ridden in a long time. It was fucking sketchy, managed to make it though the first one half-decently, then dropped my front wheel off the edge of the second one and barely stopped myself from going over the edge, nearly went OTB on the third one but saved it, haphazardly skidded around the 4th, and went around the last pretty cautiously to then make a final sprint through the finish.

Loved the challenge of the course, the camaraderie on the transfers, the excitement of waiting in line to drop into the stages, and just getting to spend a beautiful day going as fast as I could on my mountain bicycle. Had such a good time.

Sick picture my friend took of me practicing at Val di fassa ews. Race ended early because I’m a gaper and crashed on a flat gravel corner and broke my derailleur, but the practice views were dialed
