first pedal shin war of the year

yay

I wish more companies still made protection that covers that shins. All the protectors nowadays seem to just cover the knee and not protect from the most dangerous thing in biking... pedal strikes to the shins

yea it is pretty dumb. It is funny a biddy of mine who rides clips even managed to get on to the shin.

I’ve seen a few guys run the soccer shin pad/ankle things along with knee pads

Love my POC VPD 2.0 “long” pads. They’ve saved me so many times in the park. Speaking of that, Snowmass opens the 21st and I just got some Magura brakes for my Norco Aurum. For some reason, the past owner had Guide T brakes on it, which were horrible. I’ve never owned a pair of Maguras and am excited to try a different brand.

So Specialized is now direct to consumer bow. Any takes on that?

This isn’t exactly new news

specialized still sends my shop bikes every day

they won’t find success in the dtc world other than gear sales. Bikes too spensive

Only issue that’s affected us is specialized directing stock towards their consumer website and not towards dealers, so dealers aren’t able to get all the same stuff as dtc customers. It sucks having to tell a customer to order on the website to get a bike for the same price as they could buy it from us.

Really is silly the thought behind dtc that every customer knows exactly what they want, which is so very untrue. Sure, your very versed rider does but so many customers need guidance.

I've heard specialized is awful to deal with as a retailer. Only one shop in my area still carries them.

So far nothing but positive experiences for me. I ordered my bike online last weekend and picked it up this morning, so about a weeks of turnaround. I'd still rather buy in person and talk shit with someone at shop though. The dude who built my bike was rad as hell

Bought too much stuff today. But I'm setup for riding at least. Shouts out white lightning. I used that a lot when I raced BMX. Homies hmu for other essentials you use. I still need to get cleaning supplies and stuff like that

Good reccs. For riding pants? Shorts are nice when it's hot but shin to pedal diggers also suck

Love the new flylow Goodson pants. Real pedal friendly. Also like the O’Neal pants Greg minaar designed.

There was recently a riding pants review article on Pinkbike and someone in the comments recommended these "identical to the ones used by teams like Commencal." Only $65.

As a disclaimer - I have not ridden in these yet (I got them last week) but they seem solid and I like the look of them, I was going to use them both for climbing and mountain biking.

What would be an appropriate price for a 2017 norco charger? Normal xc hardtail bike, moving and want less stuff, and I need to buy a commuter bike.

Got rear ended by a drunk lady (while parked at a trailhead!!!?) last month. Bike was on the back of my car and got totaled. Was my favoritest/prettiest bike ever and I am heart broken but thats besides the point. Wondering if anyone has experience dealing with insurance claim for bicycle and advice for how to get fairly compensated. Here she is in all her glory prior to being destroyed?:

Specialized pants are pretty fire. Have held up surprisingly well for how thin they are.

Definitely pricey but not as bad as some of the other brands

Went on a trailwork planning ride last night, unsurprisingly having 10 riders who all have different degrees of trailbuilding experience and different tastes in trail features it was a bit of a too many cooks in the kitchen situation.

As a total gaper to this world, I really do appreciate bike parks and stuff like that. I rode Corner Canyon today in Draper UT and it was a blast riding those little pump tracks. Bikes are cool. Really cool tech trail sections too and some fun on the way down.

I have always just watched ski edits and some quick 3 minute bike edits. Growing up i would watch a decent amount of bmx videos.

what’s a must watch mtb edit??

My roommate works for an outdoor gear distributor in SLC and gave me a fresh set of Gear Hugger lube. I'm set on lube myself but is it legit stuff? I'm running white lighting currently

Sorta different since your situation was semi avoidable while getting rear ended by a drunk lady while parked at a trailhead is probably less avoidable. Lets have a competition to see which of us can feel more sorry for ourselves/deserves more pity!

uphill is a great quick workout, its like 4.5 miles/1200 feet, fairly gradual, theres a couple steep/shitty sections but really not bad. downhill part is a little hairy if you're new but also not bad. right in the aves so its a convenient quick loop

Added to the list. Ty for the beta dude. I rode Charlie's 9k from bonanza flats to Scott's bypass and back down the Ridgeline Ridgeline 9k back out and it was a good time. Never been up to Shadow Lake in the summer after all these years lol

I tried riding mid mountain down to PC main Street earlier but I missed the empire link and wound up on some gnarly tech sections that I ate shit on but it was at least fun to take a spin around the hometown. My hip hurts tho

LOL when kids consider Sweeney's as "gnarly tech".
