I dont know shit about tech stuff but was the SD card too slow or something? Every now and then there were pretty clear shots but then the rest was hella distorted. Trail looks pretty rad though.

Probably just GoPro settings and shitty editing/upload. Not my video lol

Jay-sus......is it that fast, or was part of it optical dissonance?

I mean yeah he was moving at a good speed. Done faster tho, some of my homies just go absolutely fuckin zoom like it takes them a 1:50-2:00 to finish that trail top to bottom

We finally got the new Rocky Mountain Element in the shop and am pretty dang impressed by this "downcountry" bike. Other than the non piggyback shock getting a little heated on a longer technical descent, it's seriously impressive what it can do for a 120r/130f bike. If anyone is in Breck, worth coming to try the demo, you'll be impressed. Who knows, I may even sell my instinct to buy one, if I can't somehow sell my left nut and also buy an Element... haha

Blasted my rear tire and dented my rim today. Had to do the walk of shame to my truck after. Kinda bent the rim back and replaced the tire with one I bought afterwards but I wanted to replace my front one and accidentally broke the thru axel pin off. Any advice?

Ive never had a tire warp but using the zip tie on the fork trick to true my rim, it seems to be pretty true where as the tire is all out of funk. Never had a tubeless set up until now. Do i need to take it off and put it back on or something??

I keep 2-3 spare rear wheels on standby and I’ve managed to nuke all of them so now my rear wheel kinda goes wherever it wants, can’t really pick a line very well. Anyone know if the Stans MK4 are more durable than the MK3’s?

Blew my tire off the rim in my first practice lap ??

Ended up 14th of 24. 22.something seconds back from first. Knew I wasn’t gonna win but it was fun. Was also the youngest in the expert catagory. Next youngest was 9 years older than me. Pretty proud of myself either way. My dad took this and was standing with some other dudes. Older homies hyped me up at the start gate too

It's quite common these days for tires to have a slight wobble, even when new. Just how they come out of the mold sometimes. Just glad you were able to figure out that it was the tire and not the rim, sometimes customers think you didn't true the wheel when they asked you to when the tire shows a wobble afterwards. Unless it's so extreme that you really do feel it on the trail, I wouldn't worry about it.

I finally got a taste of deer valley DH flows today and I can't go back.

I rode DV last summer and it was a blast. Actually just got to do a ride this past week with a buddy I went there with and we were lamenting that we only were able to fit in one lap of NCS while we were there because we spent the entire day on the upper mountain flow trails.

Just went on a nice little vacation to visit family and friends in CO, didn't get to ride as much as I wanted to but still glad I brought my bike. Was able to fit in a ride at White Ranch one morning before my friend had to work and before that blazing hellscape got up to 100F, and on another day did a quick little hangover-cure ride in Grandby which was also my GF's first ride on singletrack with her newly built bike. Also brought my dad's bike back home with me that I built up for him a couple years ago but he never rode, gonna steal the nice parts off of it for my GF's bike and my gravel bike and pass it on to the co-op.

Hell yeah. I did a 2nd mid mountain lap into PC on Sunday and rode Undertow cuz it seemed chill. Gotta say it's so much fun going fast without worrying about uphill traffic.

bike shops out here telling you that you need to lube your chain way more and that you need to keep you drivetrain cleaner in the same sentence lmao

like why tf every shop think you need to dose your entire cassette and derailleur in chain lube lol and then wonder why ppls drivetrains are so dirty

Clean that shit up lol. You can both lube your chain an appropriate amount and clean your drivetrain. Sounds like you an over luber

As long as you clean the drivetrain before every application of lube as you're supposed to fucking do, it doesn't matter how many times you lube it up. Fucking gapers who blame lube as to why their shit is dirty.

no not at all lol, the bike shops are the way over lubers. buddy took his bike in and the entire cassette and chain came back black with lube lol.

They wonder why peoples drivetrains are dirty because kids go around covering everything in wd-40 and insane amounts of grease

Chain lube is great. Just dont use a ton of it, and wash your bike somewhat regularly to get off the old lube and dirt that builds up

or not snap the other one?...chill, it'll come

Ive broken my right collarbone twice and my left once. The hardware should protect me from future injuries ?

i should just ski/bike better lol

I had a dude on the bus tell me that my bike "needed to be more dirty" and I'm all like nah I'm not trying to corrode components and break shit. Enjoy your clapped out shitbox buddy. Biking hardos can go 2 hell

You can never have a nice enough bike or be a big enough dirt bag in mtb

LOL you think "biking hardos" are people who want their bike to be dirty? No, those are lazy fucking gapers who think having a dirty bike is core. God, you're a fucking idiot.

one month into mountain biking as my summer hobby. Its been a blast. I want to send everything like I can in skiing, but the ability is not there yet lol MTB can get hairy fast

Thats a shit shop. Should be cleaning it and using dry lube.

Anybody had a crack in their carbon frame fixed? Ibis offered me a crash replacement for $600. Just asked Broken Carbon for a quote fixing it out of Boulder and Grand Junction.1046907.jpeg

I would take Ibis up on the crash replacement while you're within their warranty period (whatever that may be). Carbon repair is 100% legit (friend has been full sending his carbon patched Capra for a year+) but will tank the resale value of your bike.

If Ibis doesn't need that frame back, you could get it patched, ride it until you decide to sell the bike, and swap the brand new frame components on for higher resale.

If Ibis wants their frame back, then it gets a bit more complicated should you repair your bike. They may not be stoked about any further warranty issues if you've been knowingly riding on a compromised frame. This isn't just about this one crash, what about damage down the road?

$600 isn't a small amount of money, so I understand your hesitation, but it's probably the most responsible thing to do. Plus, if you don't need to send back your frame, then your long term options increase.

The frame is a 2017 HD3, and I'm the 2nd owner. So definitely not under warranty anymore. They only offered me (understandably) the front triangle, and i wouldhave to send the damaged one back to them. So either way I go, I have to disassemble the frame and somehow safely store the parts and rear triangle together.

Good point on resale, but, even with the increased value, that $600 would end up being a wash, since it's an older frame anyways. I'll probably opt for the crash replacement anyway. Just wanted to get some input here if anyone had experience.

Yeah, carbon repair is legit, but it's expensive. You probably wouldn't end up that far below the $600 number to get it fixed, and as someone mentioned, it will affect resale. Crash replacement seems like the move here for sure.
