Official Euro 2012 Thread

That was just an unfortunate unintentional collision at the edge of the box and no one had the ball.

Not every fall in the box is a penalty.

More like 95% of falls in the box aren't penalties. That was a good no-call. Disappointing performance from France today. We should just skip the next round and get to the inevitable Germany vs Spain final.

If england can beat Germany that is... But I am not going to doubt England they've definitely proved a bunch of people wrong in this tournament and Rooney and Walcott can do magic up front. Also, Germany, despite being undefeated so far, haven't dazzled me and can certainly be beaten.

oh you and italy. italy has no attack compared to england and england has proven they can play smart put the ball in the net. And just because the Ukraine doesn't rank well next to england, doesn't mean they aren't gonna play their hearts out and try to win a game as the home team. I think you're going to be dissapointed tomorrow.

I'm not a fan of Italy but I have a hard time having any faith in England. And the whole argument about Ukraine is ridiculous, this is Euro 2012; everyone's playing at 110%. I guess we'll see who's right tomorrow.

lol wut? no attack compared to england? england doesn't have a single dangerous attacking player besides rooney and occasionally gerrard. what the frick have you been watching to think england has a better offense than italy?

that being said, i have no idea whose going to take this one. italy is, i think, the better side, but if we have learned about soccer in the last few months its that the chelsea style, no matter how atrocious, works, and if any team can play that way its england. if italy wants to win, they'll have to earn it.

nobody is beating the Germans in this tournament - talk about the most clinical football ever!! France v spain was worst game of the tournament so far - and i think Portugal will do Spain in the semi's.... thats worth a bet.

IF THEY PLAY WELL, England have quite a bit of quality going forward. Young, Carroll, wellbeck, Walcott, Milner can put in a good cross and Ashley coal can be dangerous down the wing as well as being the best left back in the world.

walcott, chamberlain, welbeck, carroll, young, gerrard (3 assists in 5 goals) and england are the 2nd best team for creating goals from possession

if they play well any team can beat any other team, the question is who plays the best when they are not at full strength. In this instance i feel italy is more consistent and overall plays better the majority of the time, so my odds are with the italians

walcott is horribly inconsistent, he can be brilliantly incisive, like he was against sweden, but more often than not he's poor. chamberlain is like 12, has he done anything yet to deserve being considered euro 2012 semi-final quality? i dont think so. bright future for him, though. welbeck is also just not good enough yet. carroll cant do shit without his head, and even that has deserted him this year, though i suppose he has started scoring again recently. young can be good, but hasn't been yet. and yeah, i said gerrard is good too. hes gettin older and hasn't been as good as he once was, but he's been great so far this tournament. and what does that even mean? 2nd best team for creating goals from possession?

One of the most boring games in a while. And I think England has a legit shot. Rooney, Welbeck, and Gerrard are all fantastic. It's unfortunate Milner sees so much time as he usually sucks it up. Also, Terry as much as everyone hates him seems to always be in the right spot at the right time. Lescott isn't bad himself.

fuck that walcott can score and is a great player, wellbeck scored a great goal, their strategy is on point too, playing caroll against sweden worked wonders. Italy shouldn't have even made it out of group play in my opinion, croatia was the better team.

walcott can be great on his day, but those days are very few and far between. welbeck scored a good goal but did little else and has done little else and can hardly be considered more than a slightly better than mediocre at this point. if caroll can actually finish then yeah, he will be a threat in the air against italy, but his finishing this year has been, at best, abysmal, though better as of late. if england win it will be because of their defense, not their offense.

I wasn't saying carroll was good, I was just saying that strategically England knows whats up. And the wellbeck goal to me just says that the team is good enough to make plays and setup goals for their more medicore players. I do wish lampard was playing though.

I'm not sure what England games you all have been watching. The England that I have seen has been incredibly average and this was in a weak group. If I ever have trouble falling asleep in the future, I'll be sure to re-watch the England-Sweden game.

They are so incredibly one dimensional, I feel like I'm watching a Stoke City game on a cold Tuesday night. They don't have a creative outlet that most of the teams left have. Sure Gerrard tries to fill the attacking mid roll, but he has lost a step in his old age and no longer holds a candle to the Ronaldos, Xavis, Ozils etc. Walcott is their only plan B and while he can be a game changer, as someone else previously said, he is incredibly inconsistent. As an Arsenal fan, I've seen Walcott go from lethal to absent in as many games.

I don't understand how Carroll, Henderson or Downing are even in the squad. Everyone laughed at Liverpool when they made those signings for such ridiculous money and everyone is still laughing at them. Might as well call up David Bentley or Emlie Heskey.

dood everyone knows gerrard and lampard cant play together! and i will throw out that italy is a step or two above sweden, we'll see if england can be as effective at making chances against them

THAT SHOT ON THE POST FROM ROSSI.

They said it would be a snoozefest...quite the contrary so far, my body was not ready for this.

England's run is starting to become eerily similar to Chelsea's. If they get through their must have been some sort of divine intervention.

I HATE PENALTIES.

Ah well at least so far Italy had the better game, just the final touch was severely lacking:

But they couldn't finish a damn thing. It doesn't matter how much you hold the ball if you can't do anything with it...

Just saying...though it's not like England's made much either.
