This tourny has been garbage

I dont even know why I bother watching Italy play at all

So. Fucking. Boring.

Pirlo chip was pretty filthy though..just oozing confidence reminiscent of the zidane chip in 06

Haha, Just went on facebook, my news feed's blown up with a bunch of statuses about the England game.

Some are just stupid statuses. Sort of tempted to post some up.

Are you fucking kidding me? This has been a great tourney. How can you possibly criticize Italy for being boring when England were the side parking the bus. Soccer fans on this site are ridiculous.

you are an absolute moron mate, either that or you have been watching with your eyes closed as this tournament has been fantastic.

The first slightly dull game comes in the quarters, and even then the first 45 mins were entertaining until England tired and sat behind the ball. I was kinda hoping they would win so that they could get smoked by Germany in the next round to teach them a lesson.

Pirlo was absolutely class and that penalty was ice cold. The ability to take all the power out of his foot when he see's Hart move early, is unbelievably skillful.

Looking forward to Wednesday now where I honestly believe my beloved Portugal can beat Spain, as long as they show attacking intent and don't clam up defensively like they did in their opening game against the Germans.

i think they can beat spain, but they have to sit back, absorb pressure, and hit them on the counter to do it. the croatia vs. spain game is pretty much a template of how to beat spain, and ronaldo is the best in the world at scoring on the counter at the moment, so portugal is scary for spain. i dont think portugal has the midfield to go out and try to straight up outplay spain, though.

How can you guys say the game was boring. Remember when Johnson shot from a couple feet away and the goalie saved it with one hand, or when Rooney attempted that crazy bicycle kick.

It was boring because England were playing anti-Football. They parked the bus for almost the entire game and had no desire to push up the pitch. I'd like to see stats for how much possession (or lack thereof) England had in the final 3rd. Johnson's chance was their only legitimate scoring opportunity of the game. If England had advanced via penalties, it would have been a travesty.

It wasn't pretty, but England's strategy worked for most of the game and would have prevailed if England was any good at pk's.

It would not have been a travesty. Possession doesn't equate to winning. I said it before and I said it again: it's not about how long a team holds the ball, it's how they put it in the back of the net. Italy could not do that. I'm not saying that England played at all well, but let's face it; Italy simply couldn't make it happen, therefore handing the game to the coin toss PK shootout. That's just the way it goes.

we are gonna pwn Italy, thats for sure :P

Still up to now, it has been a pretty boring tournament in my opinion. A few nice situations, but overall pretty boring (might be due to the playstyle of teams like greece and italy)

Well however, lets hope the best! It can only get better :D

Italy didn't take any chances despite having hte ball in the attacking half for seemingly the entire game..what good is 68% possession if your not going to do anything with it? Would have been hilarious to see them lose in PK

England was just brutal to watch, they had absolutely nothing going on in that game

The people mentioning that one buffon save and a half assed bicycle by rooney are just being silly..a few exciting plays doesnt mean an hour and a half fucking soccer game is exciting

Joe Hart is the fucking man. I don't care if he didn't save any PKs, the faces he was making were fucking hilarious. What a total boss.

not really sure about who will win it.

imo both spain and germany looked vulnerable (although spain a little more, because they really cant get their offense going, which should be soooo fucking arms and shoulders above anyone). italy and portugal are kind of scary teams. they dont really have an identity at this tournament, with a lot of changing names over the last years (italy more than portugal), but they have good players and are strategically sound.

i want germany to win, but italy will play them tough. i kind of expect portugal to win against spain. spain simply hasnt dazzled me and they look like the pressure gets to them. if its 0-0 at the half, after 60 minutes, they look straight up lost.

are you serious? if theres any team pressure doesnt get to, its spain. as soon as teams give them space at the back they will make lots and lots of chances, i.e. against italy and croatia at the end of both those games, and considering its now the semi-finals and teams actually have to try and win that may just start happening. just because spain are incredibly patient and dont let pressure get to them doesnt mean they are lost and letting the pressure get to them.

Germany is amazing this year, but Im italian so im cheering for italy...should be interesting. Either Italy gets destroyed or it's a really close game.

inb4 american football is lame and all that jazz

i watch more than one sport

England's defense is far from "great." Glen Johnson is very, very suspect and Ca$hley is likely the most overrated left back in the game. I'm not saying Cole is not a really good player, but not the demi-god caliber that most hold him to be. One reason why the midfield was playing so far back was to not expose Terry's inherent weaknesses and lack of pace. Lescott is quality, I'll agree with that.

Oh yeah, it also helps to have your entire team behind the ball for 105 minutes a la Chelsea.

Portugal vs Spain tonight.

I predict 1-2, Ronaldo will score but he can't beat Spain on his own.

He will also style his hair at least 34 times during the match, and there will be more dives then actual tackles.

On a completly unrelated note:

yes please, spare me the extra 30min and just go to PK's.

also what the hell was that ronaldo? can anyone make a shot thats not 10 fet above the net?
