True that. Football has changed a bit over the years, what with technology, rules, and definitely finances all weighing in on the sport.
Many old folks in Brazil would claim Garrincha was the best player of all time... but who's to say he would score as well with the Tango 12?
What about George Best? Shit, many man U folks and, definitely people in Belfast would claim him as the most insanely good player ever to live... He alone made Northern Ireland slightly frightning to play... But would he even have a chance today with how fit guys typically are? Would he score goals while drunk like he used to?
The Dutch would probably point to Johan Cruyff... easily another candidate... the Germans? Beckenbauer... surely... Most anyone not English? Maradona would be in the top 5...
Hell, I myself would probably find it hard not to put Zidane, Shearer, Roberto Carlos, and Henrik Larsson and on my list... but I grew up actually seeing those guys punch it home on the reg. During the 1990's and 2000's. I never saw Cruyff or Best or Garrincha or Boniperti or friggin Stanley Matthews... None of us can judge new from old with a clear sense, really...
