Christian skiers

True, we don't want to box God in. We just need to be sure are not totally offending people. I agree we need to use every opportunity we can to witness to others, but arguing with them about whether sense is something God created is to deep of a subject to discuss on a site full of non-believers. First things first, they need to accept that God created us, and if they cannot do that than there will always be a void that wont be filled by arguing. Sorry if this is not making any sense...

the easy way out. they couldn't explain something, so god did it. something bad happened, god did it. they felt just plain lonely. oh, god is here, no worries.

precisely. man realized oh shit, killing people isnt a great idea, so killing people is wrong. as time progresses, we realize things we previously thought were right, were wrong (see slavery).

are you fucking serious? this is just idiocy. im sorry if that offends you but seriously. you need jesus in order to feel like you have a purpose? really? honestly?

and despite all of these rules we have put in place to try and protect us from each other, homo sapiens is STILL the only species that kills it's own for no reason at all.

i don't have a conscience. i do have a survival instinct. unfortunately for me, having been born in this time period, the only way for me to continue surviving is by following everyone else's conscience. so i survive. i do not see the things i do as right or wrong, i simply do the things that i am allowed to do, and don't do the things that i am not allowed to do.

The argument is:

  1. Whatever begins to exist has a cause.
  2. The universe began to exist.
  3. Therefore, the universe has a cause

Jesus is that cause.

man never thought killing was wrong in the old testament the ten commandments was what told us that it was wrong, before we had law

1. if i decided not to, nobody would let me

2. my natural instincts tell me to reproduce

3. i have not yet reproduced

4. when i find a mate who i want to reproduce with, and who will let me reproduce with her, and when society deems it acceptable for me to reproduce (again, survival), i will reproduce and care for my offspring until i die.

Matthew 5:39-46

39 But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.’

44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,

45 that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven.

HIPOCRACY

there were people before the 10 commandments "happened" who thought it was wrong. now granted, thanks to the wonderful lack of historical evidence that the 10 commandments happened, we can base it off of what we have seen in egyptian writing etc.

however there are recorded civilizations who we can hazard to guess believed that killing, at least in the sense of murder, was wrong.

alright they might of thought it was wrong but they didnt care cause they thought there were no consequences, The ten commandments were a base of laws to follow when there were none at the time, there is no true stating of when the heiroglyphics were written and besides you dont even know laws were written on them

i would say it is quite evident that other animals have thoughts and feelings as well. also the ability to reason, to a degree.

I do sin like every human being i am not perfect, just because you think every chrisian has to be perfect all the time and if they do slip up there not true to there religion, that is why jesus died for our sins so we can be forgiven, cause he knows all man are sinners, and last night even though i was angry t would he said i prayed that god would work in his life and reveal his true power and love to him. And that one day he may also walk w/ the faith

The Laws of Hammurabi are the longest and best organized of the law collections that survive from ancient Mesopotamia. King Hammurabi, who ruled from 1792-1750 B.C., had the laws inscribed on stone stelae.

Now, from what i can best figure out. The 10 commandments came a few hundred years after that. Granted unfortunately, these people werent terribly good at documenting themselves.

aight i can see that im not arguing that, i dont know much about tht long ago and yes people were not the best at documenting themselves back of the time Hammurabi, but that was in that time the laws could have been totally different we dont know if it said killing/murdering is bad

ill give you that history is sketchy back then, which is why im not presenting it as cold hard evidence. we basically fill in the blanks. but from what we can understand, it looks like they had basic laws. one can ASSUME (again, i will admit its assumption, this is ancient, ancient history) that murder would be one of the first things they would get on. also there has been some record of sumerian law predating even hammurabi, but noone knows what it says lol

animals figure out how to get inside shit to eat food. sure they dont reason on the level that we do, but we got lucky on the evolutionary ladder. perhaps too far evolved.

yes so theres no positive about the laws back then, im just saying that i think the ten commandments were the first most basic laws, that were easily translated, and most precisely followed at the time, I feel they were tthe foundation of what how christians try to prevent themselves from sin, its a guideline

yea, i agree with you on that, just saying the ten commadments were the first WELL known laws, and what else i said in my last statement, im geussing if you asked eople hwta they thought were the first laws made, 9/10 would say ten commndments, just what i think would happen

I was happy when I stopped being a christian because I would not have associate myself with all the bigoted assholes. Now as a non-christian I feel like I am still associated with ass holes, just on the other side. I am just going to call myself a deist/pantheist because my guess is as good as anybodies and I can't think of any deists or pantheists(other than robespierre, and he doesn't count if you look into it) are such assholes.

thats not really an argument though. there are lots of things that arent well known, but have clearly happened....

How then, if we can be compared so closely with animals, did humans end up becoming the dominant life form on earth?

By now I'm sure you're aware that my answer is God, as described in the

Bible. Momentarily leaving God aside ... human intelligence, which

eventually resulted in our ability to communicate across space and time

advanced knowledge as never before seen, and allowed us to

dominate Earth. Some liberal religious thinkers interpret Adam in that

way. Science has demonstrated that humans evolved on earth, but at

some point in time, our "intelligence" advanced to such a point that we

were able to communicate in a more profound way. Somebody first had

this ability. Taken as a metaphor, Adam represents the point in time

when human evolution was reached so that humans were set apart

from other creatures. Bringing God back into the discussion, you can

think of that time as when we became God's children. There are many

different opinions about what that point is and when we reached it.

Some may believe we're not inherently different than other animals.

But I would disagree. Humans are special. Even if that "specialness"

at times creates atrocities. That is the "curse" of eating from the

tree of knowledge.

special? were just the currently dominant life form, and at some point nature will wipe us out. dinosaurs, got too dominant for earth to sustain them. in turn, nature erased them. its an endless cycle.

christian skiers are sick

i think its nice to ski with people that have the same mind set

and it give me a another opportunity to talk to people who dont know jesus
