Christian skiers

Fuck Religion.It doesn't unite or promote love, it unites people who believe the same thing, refuse to change, and promotes love for anyone who is the same.Religion helps nobody, it segregates and causes conflict.
 
Why is everyone being so ignorant in this thread, none of us at all hve the say to say what is morally right or wrong, or to judge peoples or lifestyles, its there choice, I'm a christian thats my choice and no one can tkae that away from me, if your an atheist thats your choice im not gonna rip on u for being that way if you choose to have your own beliefs, all religions are technically wrong because we all belive something different all religions go off some sort of bible or sacred book, all religions are wrong because none of them are able to interpret the scripture through its true meaning we can interpret and infer things and base our religion off of it but only god knows whats true or not, now you are gonna say why do you believe in god and i dont have a perfect awnsers but ik through scripture and faith i belive.
now to you that say we live our life based upon trying to get into heaven or not you are totally wrong if thats what mybe a so called christian has said is its so they can get into heaven well there not a true christian to me then because christianity is about believing in the crucifixtion and loving jesus and blieving he is son of good and he wipes away our sins, but thats my religion, but dont say that our goal cause its not thats just the gift we recieve from salvation and our sins being wiped away because im not afraid to say i sin like every person, and i am no better than you cause i have my own set of morals.

stop being so close minded (and we christians are open to other ideas)and theres no need to try to bring down others people religion because its not what you belive, be respectful of other people mindset
 
Some people need that structure to be decent citizens. It may not be sincere benevolence but for all practical purposes its just as good. If a rapist finds god and stops trying to rape people no matter how much his mind wants him to I suppose the concept of an afterlife has performed a practical function in scaring him off from raping people. Didn't stop too many clergymen though.
 


Why? The vast majority of religious people are RIDICULOUSLY set in their ways, and refuse to believe anything regardless of how logical the "other side" may be. religion also frequently promotes intolerance of other religions or other beliefs

Im not one to say religion should be abolished, because people can worship whatever they want, regardless of how incredibly unbelievable, unrealistic, and ridiculous it is, but i think he has a point.

Truth. The most popular religions literally teach to either convert or reject those who do not accept your religion.
 
Living a Christian life doesn't have as much to do with the discrepancies about the Bible as it has to do with having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible is a precious tool that contains a plethora of information that can be related to anyone's current place in life. By reading the text and putting your faith in the one who gave you life you can experience the pure joy of being a Christ follower.

It's encouraging to see that aussie skier has taken a stand for what he and many other God fearing individuals believe; that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no man will come to the father except through him. Everyone on this earth has been given a choice whether or not to serve him. He loves you all; not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

So I challenge you to honestly read the Bible searching for Him, not being held back looking for something that's wrong with what the Bible teaches.
 
here is my problem with Christianity:

In the New Testament, Jesus gave the Great Commission. The Great Commission said:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

Mathew 28:19-20

this says to go and "convert" (in the roughest sense of the word) all the people.

He said that once.

the "Great Commission"

Jesus said alot of other things too.

but what he said was the most important of all was love. to love your neighbor as your self. to lay down your life to for a friend.

so many people take the great commission and completely forget about love.

love is purely putting others before yourself. it doesn't matter whether you change someones views, as long as you love them. it doesn't matter if you convert a single person, as long as you love.

shoving the bible down someones throat is not love.

putting your self on a pedestal because you never smoked weed, or slept around, isn't love.

i don't care who you are, what you believe, what you have done; i will respect the life inside of you.

that is all being a "christian" (literally little christ) is.

 
:) He isn't to be feared as a tyrant but as a loving and just Father who leads us in wisdom and truth to do what is good for us, what will prolong and preserve our lives. But since God is a just Father, we know He will discipline and punish us when we defy Him and break His rules. If we break those rules often and carelessly enough, He will take our privileges away completely. That is the risk this world faces even now

 
haha, we should create a "Diet Christianity" cult for catholics. We basically took their entire religion, cut out all the negatives, and called it our own. then we kept saying we'd read the bible tomorrow but never got around to it.

what i don't get is why people who are obviously anti-christian or whatever would come into a thread titled "Christian skiers" and then argue over if god exists etc. It's been debated a long time, i'm doubting ns will finally settle it
 
I agree with this. In this life it can be far too tempting to think of Christianity as a numbers game. There needs to be a delicate balance

i have no problem with Christianity, or any other religion for that matter. many of the concepts are fine and people can believe whatever they want as long as it doesn't interfere with my own life. the line i draw (much like you) is when beliefs start being forced upon those who have already chosen to cast them aside. it happens in almost every religion, not just Christianity, and it annoys me.

the number one thing i like about atheism is that it does not hold an agenda. atheists form their own morals, values, and schedules. we do not hold meetings to discuss what we do with our lives, we do not ask each other to divulge secrets, we do not ask each other for love, we do not ask anything of each other. we recognize that the concept of good and bad behavior was invented by the thought of some men, not the existence of humanity, and therefore we form our own interpretations of what is good, what is bad, or whether our behaviors can actually be classified as such.

i enjoy atheism. i do not tire of it, i cannot be defined by it, it does not influence me. the only things that influence me are the things i know. as far as safety goes, yes, my choices are for the most part, still as safe as any religious choices, but they are my choices, and therefore provide the best opportunity for exploration.

One God, that is. This is where omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence and omnibenevolence come into play. Sometimes we tend to think of God as a "guy" because we were created in his image. He is, however, more powerful, all knowing, eternal, loving, wise, truthful, changeless, holy and more righteous than we could ever comprehend, which is one of the reasons that a relationship with Him can progressively deepen.

ARE U RETARDED?!? that was probably one of the stupidest comments i've heard, theres so many people who arnt even christians that still do great things, and christianinty has nothing to even do with that its through faith in christ and god that we become good serveants and we still screw and sin like everyone, and isnt that like saying that the law is sad because it makes you be a good person but you still screw up anyways and get in trouble
 
Your response is refreshing to hear. It seems that you have thoroughly contemplated the religious aspect of your life. We have obviously come to different conclusions, but I don't think we started out much differently. Shortly after high school my world was rocked and no doubt about it, i'll never be the same. Perhaps, one day He will present himself to you in such a compelling way.

Being a 'good person' is simply a bi-product of Jesus' effect on ones life. Having hope for eternity is why I believe Christ is the answer.

think of a dog trying to comprehend chemistry, physics, the fact that the earths precise tilt causes seasons. The idea that gravity an invisible force holds us down. Im not a devout christian i am not religious but I cannot say what there is and isn't. the idea that we mold this being which we refer to as a guy who watches us like a security guard monitoring computer screens shows how foolish we are. We grapple for solutions with what we know but we don't know anything. If you study sciences you learn the precison of our world and existence. Everything is perfect for us to live. Whether this is the culmination of a grand coincidence or the work of a supreme being is not for us to pull out of our heads. it is not in the limits of anyone to determine. Honestly the idea that we could ever make sense of such a being if there was one is obsene. And to think the best reasons early scholars could come up with was that this being needed to create lesser beings capable of appreciating his work. ha, a god that promotes good and selflessness builds a person just to astonish him, just show off. If there is a god and it was this human it would be lauging its off at our idoicy. yah hate on me go for it. im only half ignorant, pshh my father's side.

you said it yourself, its not for us to pull out of our heads. We will never know EVERYTHING, and people who turn to religion are people who refuse to admit that, and come up with some bullshit explanation instead. Regardless of whether there was a higher being that created this earth (i HIGHLY, HIGHLY doubt that), the thought of some sort of omnipotent judge upstairs is absurd.
 
Okay im pretty sure i already stated that i dont know everything and my religion isnt perfect cause we dont all comprehend it the same and nobody knows what actaully is the true meaning of everything except GOD!!!

do we know a god exists? no. do we know a god doesnt exist? no. but not having proof that something doesnt exist, doesnt mean it exists.
 
i believe that we will never know how the universe was created, or how the thing before that was created, etc. time is infinite. it always has been and always will be. something was there before the big bang, and something before that, etc.
 
Yeah and with christians our proof is in the bible, dude your not gonna change my mind, you have ur beliefs and thats fine im open to listening to them but dont tell im wrong cause i believe something that you don't think is real, thats your choice, and i no way think im better than you cause im a christian, god doesnt put people on pedastals, im no less a sinner than you and nogreater a person, in the eyes of god all sin is equal, and every man is equal wether you choose to believe that or not your choice, if you took a chance to read the bible or look around and realize miracles around you im pretty sure you'd see the signs, I Believe that god blessed all of us on newschoolers with the ability to ski even you, like i've stated already Believe it or not your choice!
