Christian skiers

I dont think your an idiot, i just am curious how in some cases you can completely ignore scientific evidence, to stick with your faith.

I'll say I've had a good time going back and forth a little bit with everyone here...It's been a pleasure sharing what I believe and I've also enjoyed hearing everyone else's thoughts on the subject. No harm done...

precisely. shit on the kids saying

FUCK JEUSUS

and that crap. they clearly are not intelligent enough to voice a real opinion in either way.

i still think im right (hahahaha dont we all?) but debating never hurt anyone, in fact, not debating is what usually hurts people. the art of DISCUSSION, has sadly gone by the wayside as of late.

no offense, but some of the christians in this thread have done a pretty decent job of implying that themselves.

one would hope that with all the murder going on back then, someone would have realized that when people don't stop bleeding, they die.

yet the church of christianity murdered anyone who thought different up until copernicus proved it.

Thank you for respecting are opinion, and saying that the people who say that kind of stuff think there funny and can't make a valid point to the discussion, yes we all do think were right lol, but its good to hear other views

and pretty much all non-christians have shown that besides a few repectful people on here like ben, dont try to put this on us, all this stuff you say about christians can just as equally been on about you

i never said you were, you said stuff about how all the christians were being ignorant on here, and i said alot of you non-christians are doing the same thing besides few respectful people on here , no one is commiting genocide here, its a freakin internet site

1. I said SOME. if you're going to argue with me, you could at least read my posts.

2. "all this stuff you say about christians can just as equally been on about you" You just said that I've been murdering anybody who disagrees with me. I'd like to know how you found this out, I've been doing a pretty good job of keeping it a secret up until now.

That's a fair question...I believe there is more to ones soul than the sub 100 years that most of us will spend on this earth.

History shows that this conflict, which took place at the time of the

Inquisition, was part of a power struggle. As a result, scientific and biblical knowledge became casualties -- an effect we still feel to this day.

what do you think of the theory of multiple universes? if it was proven would you still accept our Christianity as the right path, or would you be open to learning other religions as well?

knowledge was not the only casualty...but aside from that point, how do you feel about the abuse of power?

I appreciate your responses, k-rob. From many of your posts it seems to me that you are simply trying to add your thoughts. Maybe sometimes people see disagreement as hate and take it personally?

Meaning... what exactly? What about your soul are you expecting to find in eternity? Wouldn't it be better to maximize your life everyday as if there was no eternity? I'm just saying... The logic behind heaven doesn't make sense to me anymore. We're stuck in life without a real purpose except to live. So why not live without regret or worry or fear. You may see Jesus or God as purpose, but whether or not you are religious or devoted to that idea, I feel that God or Jesus can be a distraction, or take away your ability to assume responsibility for actions and fulfillment in life.

In my opinion, this theory has been added as an attempt at an explanation for the fine-tuned

nature of our universe from an explosion. How can we ever discover other universes with properties

different from ours? Its only value is to suggest multiple universes to

overcome the odds of this one occurring by chance just this once, which

in many astronomers' eyes means that

an intelligence must have ordered it.

probably. again, i'd like to clarify, i have no hate against anyone's faith or their choice in faith. many of my friends and family are christian. but, as with all other faiths, i do dislike some of the members. i cannot be friends with everybody. i do not attribute the actions of some to all related. for instance, i do not relate you to the actions that have been made in the name of Christianity, but i do attribute the religion to the actions, the same as i would with actions made in the name of any other religions. i have made no accusations against "all christians," but i have made accusations against some christians, which relate directly to their faith.

That is a decision that obviously we all make for ourselves. For myself, the only fulfillment that I have in life comes from living for my Lord, Jesus Christ. Knowing that when this life is over my soul will be exempt from the pain and suffering in hell means that I can live without fear. As long as my faith in Christ is secure, I have no reason to regret anything. He makes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and self control available to all at absolutely zero cost. All it takes is the faith of a mustard seed.

Most definitely the intelligence of my God :) It's remarkable to me how delicate the earth and everything in it is. It's amazing that all the knowledge that exists in the world only touches the surface of the many things that are in the universe. I find it extremely hard to imagine so much incredible detail happening by chance.

Couldn't say for sure. But I'm honestly completely content being done. I try everyday to make sure I'm positive and accomplished so I would have no regrets in case I suddenly went.

Just read through this entire thread, very interesting. Some of the ignorance on both sides literally made me cringe.

Please think about your comments or research even a little bit before you post. And to those who seem to enjoy debating this, you should really study philosophy when you go to college so you can actually discuss these things intelligently instead of screaming at each other.

I don't see wats wrong with "flaunting" something you feel strongly about. don't we all flaunt that we are skiers when were not on the hill by having goggle tans and dressing like weirdos?

You believe that, with no evidence other than a book that is probably fictional and was written during the same time period that The Diamond Sutra and the Mashari was written (Both fictional books written before the year 0 a.d.), so much that you are willing to live by it and preach everything that is written in it to complete strangers.

Can you please show me INDISPUTABLE evidence that your so-called deity exists in more than a book and blind hope. (I refuse to use the word faith because it would imply that "faith" has a possibility of truth behind it). In all honesty, you sound like a fool.

Why do so many atheists have religious zeal when it comes to metaphysical debate? I don't believe in Jesus but if someone does I might discuss for a bit and then let it go. I seriously doubt NS is going to be the starting place of the next great awakening or enlightenment period so aren't there better things to talk about like how to get to chads gap or spilling milk on a keyboard?

Faith: Belief that is not based on proof.
God can do anything he wants. If God wanted to rewrite the Bible he could. If he wanted to cure HIV, he could do it with a snap of his fingers. Why he doesn't? We humans can't possibly comprehend his plan. People just need to understand there is more to life than what meets the eye. Example:
A man has been blind his entire life, does this man know the sun? Of course we know there is a sun, it is what makes life on this planet work. However, this man has never actually seen the sun with his own two eyes. He only knows it by what other people have told him. The blind man has two options; 1) believe the others who can see it 2) disregard everything the people say about the sun, and make his own theories about where plants get their nutrition. This same principle applies to us and God. We can't see God, just as the blind man could not see the sun. However, God wrote the Bible through different appostles to tell us, "blind" people, about him. We can either trust in his word and believe. Or we can go our own way and make-up our own theories about where we came from.
That is the way i see it. Sorry, as always, if it doesn't make sense.

Okay, seriously I have no problem with intelligent debate and discussion. And I have no problem with people having strong feelings one way or the other, but people need to realize that probably 95% of the objections and arguments against Christianity raised in this thread have been contemplated, discussed, and moved beyond by thousands of people much more learned, intelligent, and rational than us.

This isn't just specifically addressed to k-rob, but the vast majority of religious people aren't ignorant fools who blindly believe some random shit just because someone dressed in a funny robe told them to. Many have valid reasons of motivations for believing what they do. Believe or not, there are people who have thought "Is there a historical basis for the Bible?" or "Wait, some of the stuff in the Bible doesn't really apply to today's society, maybe we shouldn't take it all literally at face value." People have not only thought about it, but devoted their whole lives to studying the Bible (or other religious texts.) And they have concluded some pretty interesting stuff that doesn't involve homophobia, violence, and intolerance.

Undoubtedly there are some serious questions to be asked of Christianity, but it is ignorant and close-minded to assume that anyone, Christian or atheist, has no rational basis for what they believe. Sincerely try and see the other person's point of view, try and picture how the world looks from their point of view, and you will not be so quick to dismiss their thoughts.

I told myself I wouldn't get involved in this thread, but you brought me out.

As a fellow atheist, I am here to call you fucking retarded. The argument for or against the existence of God is NOT a scientific one. A theist could ask you for indisputable evidence that God doesn't exist and you wouldn't be able to produce any--although again, both of your arguments would be totally invalid.

Over'n out.
