Worst terrain parks

RIP GORE IS ASS, but anyways, tussey wasnt as bad as usual this year. They had a few decent setups some were actually fun, way better than previous years

tussey was fun this year, but once march hit park crew just kinda gave up, the last set up was pretty bad.

Anybody at springs today? that flat tube next to the high mailbox thing on the left was the sketchiest thing I have seen in a long time. What on earth could a skier or snowboarder do on that?

You're on crack if you think granite peak has a bad park. It's top 5 in the Midwest overall, but the jumps are by far the best in the Midwest. Nobody else has a 60-footer.

Also nordic, little switz, tyrol, and dsunberst have decent parks

All of these parks you think are bad are fucking perfect compared to the terrain park of Luosto in Finnish lappland. They have like three small sketchy ass jumps with some potato field looking like landing. The only rails they have are two straight press boxes that are shorter than my skis.

Blue knob,PA is worse :/

Do you think tussey is gonna get better and better over the next few years? Not trying to drive 2 hrs to springs from Main Campus in a few years

Tussey has never really had a bad park. It is just small and sometimes they make crazy ass setups that only like 3 people there can hit. If you're intermediate-advanced in the park you should be fine.

It really depends on the week, a couple times this year they had a really good park, but sometimes all that is set up is a bunch of corrugated tubes and rails without kickers because the guy who runs park crew thinks its sick. For example, one weekend this year they had three rails setup like 2 feet off the ground and just didn't make kickers on for the whole day. Also they don't keep their kickers in shape and eventually they melt and are non existent. However, 4 weeks out of the year the park is pretty good and has like 15-20 features. I would say that it is worth it till february but once it gets to march they just stop caring and just set up corrugated pipes. Hopefully the parks get better but I would say dont invest in a season pass, it's not worth it.

Probably been said before, and I'll say it again, Powder Ridge. I'd give the park a .001/10. Got kicked out for filming and hiking a rail near the bottom because the filmer didnt have a helmet on. Tf? Ski patrollers there act worse than the cops on live pd. Skiing in CT sucks, but it reaaaaly sucks at Powder Ridge. Miss me with that bullshit

Okemo makes a skier cross course in the middle of the park and EVERY SINGLE RAIL IS RUSTY

Hmmm none of the rails were rusty last weekend.

Tyro opened at Stowe today. It is embarrassing. No flow, small features in fast parts of the trail. The trail was all ice too; maybe once it softens it'll seem better.

Good fucking lord. Even 15 years ago at a shithole mtn that still wouldn't fly.

I really don't get why people are this shit at setting rails/building takeoffs. Probably just massive laziness combined with being totally clueless. I mean somebody who knows nothing about skiing couod see the difference betweeen that and a normal rail takeoff. Fuck

Ill just say vail cause it opens mid january. The mountain opened late nevember for reference

I was never a big fan of there parks. The one that's not golden peak was always hilariously neglected to the point of being worse than a rando small mtn generally and gp wasn't really my jam. Ive hit some wonky jumps in there. Raik setups were generally pretty good though but something about that trail just feels weird to me. I do like being able to hit the pipe as well.

I havent ridden vail in like 4 or 5 years though.

It's still not good. All the ski club vail coaches/kids/instructors come to BC and complain about vails park. Their COO is the one that killed rodeo at so having a park early season is most definitely not high on the list of priorities. We've had 101 open for a few weeks now getting decimated by everyone in eagle county and we'll be building zoom room this week.

M8 i dont doubt it, but its probs the way the vail clientel skis 2 tho.

Whitetail is definitely worse than Liberty... Not that liberty has a nice park, but I've seen worse. I'm park crew there and we have had a tough year because we had 3 of our 4 park groomers move out to Sun Vally so our new groomers are still learning. Also we had water issues with snowmaking and a new management system. Liberty should make some progress in the next couple years, I'm doing my best to add better features and find hard working people for park crew. Also a kid named Tyler Archie did throw a dub backflip there this year. I witnessed it. it wasn't laid out or anything cause the jump was tiny, but he did throw a dub.

Liberty is fire now

Oh man, the parks in my region would be SO fitting here. I've been a shaper myself, and I just don't understand how someone would possibly make anything like that and approve it. But you're probably more interested in the pictures I have of the resorts' definition of a kicker. I posted them in a similar thread, and I probably have a few more somewhere but these are explicit enough already...

Oh my gawd. The right too are that horrible compared to that racecar speed booter on the left.

Jesus

I’ll just throw it out there, buck hill is the worst actual ski able terrain park (as compare to some of the shifty east coast ones that you can’t even ride) out there, a small Midwest hill decided to split there park into four different sections that you have to take a chairlift to easily get access to a different one. Plus there rails are all tubes, no flat bars.

Any bigger jumps at Nstar yet?

When I was there a week ago Tuesday the one at the bottom had no lip was weird.

I miss the old pre Vail Kirkwood park under chair 2. I was comfortable hitting everything in that even the 80 something footer at the bottom. Amazing jump line w no rails in the way.

I haven't ridden this week but double jump at top and bottom I believe. 3 jump line prolly coming soon. Weve been trying to nuke with snow. Also been making a fuck ton for the pipe and that push should start soon.

Idk if im gonna ride here till the holidays are over.

Ah cool.

Holidays wont be bad most people buy the local pass. Jerrys stay out of the way. Not that many rich families ignore fear mongering.

Idk DP was lind of a shit show yesterday. But not too many people in the park. Also they just fucked with our hours so Im working 6pm to 7am and don't feel like hanging around to ride. Hoping with the rising temps this weekend Ill go back to parks for the rest of the season. Getting out at 9am is way better for riding. And Im pretty over snowmaking.

Heading up pinball in a few. I guess upper jump is still a single. Everything will prolly get rebuilt after holidays. We've been nuking snow in there this last week.

Courmarider park - Courmayeur

The only jump bug enough to flip has an air bag and rails have been crafted during the Iron Age

With the terrain available from the lift why would you possibly want to ski park at Courmayeur ???

its pretty bad. they need some direction. its not the park riders mountain but a mountain with sweet natural terrain and fun park lines would be cool to see to. in todays age of ski resorts, i think both are fully possible and can be done. Squaw seems like a fun place.

But yeah its a quaint little patch of snow with features that get built, changed maybe twice throughout the year, and never get really maintained/raked/anything. Its not PC-tier stuff with shit features but its like dont waste the resources building something thats just shitty and ends up getting people hurt.

Sketchy parks are a giant liability and big resorts have the loot to make it not sketch. It really doesnt take much. Having sick terrain id a reason to not invest in a huge park but not a reason to have a sketch park. It's so easy to make a decent little park that doesn't suck. 1 cat and 2 day staff can keep a few jumps and 20 or less raiks in perfect shape all day. And thats not even pushing it. Idk. For some reason good staff is hard to find. The horrific pay probably has a lot to do with it

Jackson hole is a good example. Sick all mountain, generslly sick park. Not huge but flowy lines and fun well maintained features. There's really no reason not to have a park these days, and if you have one, make it not suck.

The shitty mountain I worked at I'm CT: powder ridge. It was the first year of the reopen after being shutdown for nearly a decade and the new owner essentially found some old rails hanging around and had no qualified park crew so just kind of put them down and made some crappy ride ins.

Oh, and then he went and drove the snow cat by himself to make jumps one night and we get to work and it's kickers that were right on the edge of of the landing spots that were formed by mounds in the grass underneath. We had to send some people up to try and dismantle the kickers by hand so noone got hurt. After that fiasco we made a instructor with cat experience our terrain park manager and I left after that season.

Anyone from the ski sundown community reading this: never go to powder ridge.

Powder Ridge in MN ?

Mt. Hood meadows is so good now. Better than timberline which should say something

Yeah, I have got a pass to Meadows this year, pretty psyched on their recent setups in Fireweed. Excited for Forest park.

This one time is decided to go to the backcountry or what ever it’s even called. I ended up searching all day for the park all day and never found it. What a shitty resort to not even advertise where the park was. Like where’s the park crew?!! 1 star out of 10
