Why Wallisch should be going to the Olympics

Seriously sucks so much. Tom (sadly being realistic) won't really have another Olympics in him, however Jossi well def be able to crank out to the Olympics in 4 years, he'll be almost the same age as Tom then too.

Jossi should see if he could step down, I know it would be one heck of a thing to do, but with so much Tom has done for the whole "freeskiing scene" Tom def deserves it.

They should do a public vote. Screw the coaches; send who the US wants to see at the Olympics.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm stoked for Jossi, but I know in 4 years Jossi will have another chance and will probably be better then too while Tom won't.

Congrats & good luck to those younger kids that did make it but it really sucks to not see skiers like Tom, Grete, Simon, etc. as part of the team. The people that have at the top for years and years

all this shit aside, can anybody else see the polar bear kissing his cheek?

4bi9 day Wallisch was the one who got me into park skiing, so I'm sad to see him not be in the event. On the other hand, I'm stoked for Joss since the kid has been killing it for so long and only recently started to be recognized. To anyone saying Joss and these other kids will go again in 4 years must have not been following skiing very long. In 4 years time there will be a group of young whippersnappers pushing the intensity of the sport past what most of these guys can keep up with. For Joss too this may very well be his only olympics.

Reaching your prime in skiing earlier is false. Basketball requires far more stress on the body.

Like I said, athletic peak is theorized to peak around 28. We haven't seen older skiers because they cannot make a living skiing like a basketball player makes a living playing basketball.

If Tom could continue to make a living off skiing, I don't see why he wouldn't have another shot.

"Training" is not that demanding. Going to the Center of Excellence in PC with world renowned strength & conditioning coaches a few days a week to help prevent major injuries/build muscle so he can keep stomping 60+ jumps. NS jokes a lot about "training" like you have to sacrifice your entire life to it, not true.

Revenge Plan:

First NSr to get really rich needs to fund an invitational comp every 4 years that is over the same two weeks as the winter olympics. Do it as a two week comp in a JOSS format, but no limit on country team sizes.

Best video gets 25mill (this way no pro in their right mind would go to the Olympics) and we get bad ass JOSS style edits every 4 years.

someone go out and make a shit ton of money so we can make this happen

Your not getting down voted because of a typo; you're being down voted because you said Joss should step down. He has been pushing himself for years and this will be his only shot at the olympics too because skiing progresses and changes a lot in four years.

It's sad because he played the puppet of the U.S. ski team for them to fuck him over in the end.

Am I the only one that sees the positive in this? Wallisch has the opportunity to rise from the ashes and put the ski game in a choke hold. Sign to Inpired/Armada like Pac going to Death Row, make more quality content than anyone's ever seen(You guys miss Wallisch Wednesday this season?) and do some legendary shit like rodeo 9 blue steel face chad's gap.

I'm not saying Joss should step down so much as it would be a cool thing to see him do out of respect for Tom being a big pioneer in the sport. Joss will definitely have a great shot at next olympics but Tom won't. But who knows though, maybe Tom will be slaying in the next 4 years. Fingers crossed that he still will be

I hope Joss podiums just to shut everyone up. Yes Tom deserves a spot but shit happens when there are a shit load of candidates in a very competitive sport.

One indian tear for Tom.

What bullshit. Even if the team made the stupid mistake not too take him how could they have not taken one of the team riders for the North Face, who supplied the team outfits? I'm sure they are pumping in more money than that as well.

That's the biggest piece of goddamn bullshit I think I've ever heard in my life - and possibly the dumbest decision anyone has ever made let alone an entire country. The whole world laughs at you US and A.

Fuck the Olympics.

Mswati III for Prime Minister.

Maybe I misunderstood what they were saying but I disagree. Says that freeskiing shouldn't be in the olympics. Then how the whole olympics is kind of a joke. Also the mentioning of how freeskiing can't have contests as if there haven't been freestyle skiing contests forever.

I'm not one of those people who get super into it but I can understand those that do. Despite all the bullshit it's nice that we can come together in sport and put at least some of the other stuff behind us for a little while.

Also the people in charge of the olympics didn't wake up one day and say "Hey ratings are down, let's be the Xgames" The Olympics are stupidly popular as it is. Freestyle skiing getting into the Olympics is a result of the sport being taken seriously and the relentless efforts of people to both get it to that point, and get it in the Olympics. People like Sarah Burke who pushed for and dreamed of this.

I'm not saying the Olympics is perfect, but I don't see how writing the whole thing off is positive either.

If I was the coach I would pick Joss as well and this is why...

The coach job is to put together the best team for the Olympics, to try and get as many people on the podium as possible, and this competition season I would choose Joss over Wally. Joss recorded the highest scored slopestyle run ever just a few days ago, while Wally, THIS YEAR, has not proven he can make the podium for a single event. You can't bring up past achievements as a reason for making the team this year, that is illogical and bias.

However, I completely agree that Wally should be on the team. Not necessarily because I believe he could win, but just because he embodies what slopestyle skiing should be, and would be a great leader for the team and increase America's chance at winning overall.

This whole Olympic selection process was horrible and made no sense whatsoever. 3 of the spots on the team should be coaches decision, and have the last spot be made by the person who has the highest overall score over FOUR (not that bs best 2 scores) of the five 'Olympic qualifiers'. I understand the idea of being fair, and allowing everyone an 'equal' chance of making the team via competitions, but that is an inherently flawed idea because all the competitions are opinionated/judged, which is a nightmare and unfair because that clown Steel Spence has horrible taste in skiing.

Don't be mad at the coach for picking Joss, he 100% earned his spot on the team with that last world cup. If you want to be mad, be pissed on the selection process, and how B.Brown and Gus get put on a pedestal by the judges every fucking time and get scored way too high on their boring ugly runs.

Your points are stupid so nobody is bothering to take the time to respond.

For the people arguing that Joss should be going instead of Tom because he has been more consistent recently, and the people saying that this is what happens when things are as competitive as the u.s. freeski team, I think the point is that freeskiing is supposed to be different. It's supposed to be more about having fun than winning, and it's really disappointing to see Tom left off the team because of a "win first" mentality (which isn't to say Tom can't help team usa win, but it seems to be the only reason that Joss would get picked over him). Feels like the "free" is being taken out of "freeskiing" if someone who has done as much for the sport as Tom isn't being given a spot at what will likely be his only chance to go to the olympics

it just make no sense that he didnt make it, 16 days ago, the olympics youtube channel publish on the athlete profile of tom wallisch and he has the jacket and all the stuff with the us team so... WTF

even more sad that simon won't be able to have the opportunity to be on the world stage and have the support of target...

lets be honest here, could we really expect slopestyle to be a legitimate item of the olympics? with how much of a "jack ass" event its considered to be I am not one bit surprised the olympic board put as little thought or effort into as they did. I wish it was different. Just the way it is I guess.

i agree 110%. I feel like simon and wally could have done a lot for the sport if they had good showings at the olympics. maybe this will give some other guys a chance to become bigger names though, i guess we'll see how it all plays out soon enough
