park/urban skiing culture is lame:

tall t's, gold chains, trap music, etc - does not fit aesthetically with watching generally well off white kids huck their meat into snow/rails. It hurts to watch. yall need to improve your feel for cinematography. there is so much better fitting music / gear, to go with what you are doing. Skiing is one of the least gangster activities, trying to act like it is is just painful to watch.

i understand this is a generalization, and there are plenty of great park/urb skiers doing something different, but this sort of shit being the norm is just cringe.

that being said, the alternative to this does not mean jesper drip edits, with a mumford and sons song. this is also bad

i know imah piss a lot of old heads/ as well as the gen z off with this. but the gangster/baggy era was/is straight cringe, this shit needs to die

I said urban skiing is overrated in another thread so I guess i’ll elaborate on that. To preface this, I still think urban skiing is cool, just overhyped, and the reason why I say this is because:

Urban jumps are lame and not as cool as park jumps

Not very many good lines, just single clips

Doing a skislide on a hard ass rail is dope but 90% of dudes that hit urban arent good enough to hit big features so they end up hitting normal rails and doing tricks they would do in the park anyways

The b roll is usually a little better but dudes try too hard to be artistic and forget that the point of a ski video is ski clips

The soul of skiing is on a mountain, carving is sick af( which you don't do in urban) same with going big on sidehits

Small urban features are fine in the context of an edit but boring if you don't do bigger features

You spend hours building a lip to a rail that you get one or two clips on or you get kicked out

The only thing better about urban is the uniqueness of the features but you can't do sick jumps, carve, put lines together etc.

Urban is still sick af but everyone holds it too highly imo. A good park edit with some nice sidehit footy is unmatched.

yea I love joa and he isn't hating just to be hating I feel like, he just calls out wack shit like nyjah ads and mikey alfred charging kids 700k for some clips. I really liked when he reviewed one of strobecks vids and looked at it as an art form, because that's what skating (and skiing) is about.

A large percentage of dedicated skiers aged 18-30 are genuinely just losers. Does this stem from the fact I am jealous of the people getting 100+ days a season like I did from 2-22 but now that I work full time and get maybe half that? Yes.

Skiing needs more characters and personas. Step on some toes fuck some shit up entertainment is key. So many pros now are interchangeable, don't believe me watch a big air comp maybe like 2 people stand out the rest robot wet blanket personalities.

yes, because 1 less person equates the death of a sport. i am all for less mountain-snowsports activity. the mountains are overcrowded, and it would take a really long time for the sport to die out, which it never will.

Why the fuck are dudes self conscious about skiing. I think snowboarding looks better if your just riding downhill but snowboard tricks are not that sick compared to ski tricks. Havent you ever watched the actual dope ski edits? If you think snowboarding is cooler its because u either got chirped or because you think society generally thinks its cooler but in reality the dope ski edits are way more sick than the dope snowboard edits and if you can prove it, post the edit showing that

To create a ski area thats for skiers and to boot snowboarders out is very different and realistically it would need some serious evidence and documentation to pull off. Theres pros and cons but the truth is having both as an option is great.
