It’s only old when you're young. At this point You prolly think 22 is a good age to settle down. All good tho. I’m sure we’ll be homies by next year.

35 is getting to the end of the line when it comes to raising a family, at least from your own blood, because you could adopt. unless you marry a woman like 10 years younger than you. i love you though, dan

it's pretty hard to start a family past 35. i'm saying that he's gonna have hard time impregnating his wife if she's 35+, not as an insult to him but just because that's the reality.

I don't think anyone in this thread is reaching that far but skier-only resorts do have an annoying "Country Club" vibe to them. It's their business and they're allowed to enact other rules but its also okay to poke fun at it too, no?

Lets not kid ourselves though, Alta gets a pass for having fun terrain but Deer Valley and Mad River just seem like golf courses you can ski on.

Don't get me wrong I don't care if you make fun of them, just people seriously compare it racism all the time, its played and dumb. It's also actually how snowboarding got banned at MRG in the first place, some snowboarders cornered Betsy Pratt in a grocery store in Waitsfield and told her "now I know what its like to be a n****r in the 50's, bitch" after she tried to explain to them why they were only banned from the single chair because they kept breaking the lift. Keep in mind MRG under Betsy was actually one of the first resorts in the country to allow snowboarding.

Also IDK if you've skied MRG but it has dope terrain and I wouldn't call the vibe golf course-esque, more like diehard tele-skiers with duct tape covered gear.

I can tell you've never skied MRG

gnarliest mountain in the east, minimal grooming and snowmaking, and the lifts are a single and some doubles. doesn't sound like a country club to me.

The vibe turns me off tbh. You're right. Guess I gotta go hangout in the wasatch instead. You are aware that there are other ski areas in this world that have both good terrain and double-chairs, right?

it's all good if the vibe turns u off, it's not like i'm asking for more people lol. point was though, that cliff bands and old slow lifts aren't exactly the first things that come to mind when i hear "country club"

Watching Something in the Water w level 1 and mango. This is a perfect example of what I was talking about earlier. Both genres at the right time, done in the right way

My point is that the midwest has a really cool ski culture too. The EC is tight and all but give some respect to people lapping their favorite local in the midwest. Ski The East holds it down but also Ski The Midwest needs to happen. Who's with me?

Spirit mtn rope tow is crazy u can hit like 5-6 rails in a minute including riding the tow rope that's why they have so many kids cracked on rails also Hyland etc

yeah i'm sure they do, it's a bunch of mom and pop operations that haven't been spoiled by vail. imo STE is a failure, they're cool and i'll wear the merch but a shadow of their former selves, and the self they never were. i'll follow a ski the midwest on instagram lol

Elaborate

Back in April is emailed them to ask a couple questions about the presale, and I never got a response. I then messaged them on NS, and also never got a response. I was in a pissy mood at the time and left an angry message to which I got an almost immediate response telling me to message them on instagram if I want a more reliable response, which I can't do as I don't use social media, and they also gave no apology. I then bought a pair of ember keys in the presale, but I changed the address I'd given them originally, as I wouldn't be there when the skis arrive. Eventually it gets to mid October and there's no word if the skis have been shipped, I messaged them to see when they might be shipped, and they said the new address I gave them didn't exist, although they never bothered to tell me this until I asked, and showed me a screenshot of the address they'd put in, which was entered in wrong, I then tried another address, which they also said didn't exist. Eventually they ended up cancelling the order, which was kind of fucking annoying. I'm not saying other people haven't had good experiences with Vishnus customer service, and I'm not saying you shouldn't buy skis from them, but my experience with them was fairly sucky. Trying to get a response or update was like trying to get blood out of a stone, and they didn't apologise once, or make any real kind of effort to sort out the problem. Only good part is because of the exchange rate between the dollar and the pound I made £50 off of the refund.

I had to email a mod to reset my NS password (got a new computer, don't remember it) to respond to this thread.

Anything I say here is going to sound like excuses, which is unfortunate. Customer service is very important to me, provided that the customer themselves is being reasonable, and it pains me to hear that you had a bad experience. Allow me to provide an explanation.

I get a LOT of messages and I take the time to answer as many as I can. There is no social media or email manager, it's just me on my phone. That's it. It would seem that I did fail to respond to an email from your mother on March 27th, which is certainly unusual for me. I am sorry. To be fair, it did say right in the product description when the skis would be shipping, but it's possible you missed that.

Messaging and communication issues aside, I switched to a new warehouse and shipping system this season which resulted in some problems. The most acute problem, it would seem, was shipping to the country of Italy. It has become such an issue that I had to stop allowing sales to Italy entirely. Mama mia.

Your first Italian address wouldn't work. The second one wouldn't work either. Multiple phone calls and chats with the shipping provider could not produce a solution. After speaking with your mother at length, she told me that you had a ski trip coming up soon and that it was pivotal that you have skis to go on said trip. With no solution to the shipping problem developing and no idea of the time frame in which it would be solved, I decided the best course of action was to refund you and cancel your order so that you could use the money to buy other skis to go on this important trip.

I felt this was a reasonable solution to a complex problem that I could not solve in a timely fashion, and still do. I take the fact that people give me their money very seriously, and if I feel that I am not upholding my side of the deal I do not hesitate to refund customers that are not satisfied. Regardless, I hope you had time to get other skis and I hope the trip was fun.

Cheers for the response. I get where you're coming from, sorry if I came off a bit shitty, I haven't had the best week so far. (Apologies for my mother by the way, I know she isn't the most pleasant person to deal with. There wasn't any trip, it's just her way of trying to pressure you to go faster, sorry. Since I don't use insta, I asked if she could message you to change the address, and she ended up taking over the entire thing.)

Classic case of two sides to every story. Lmao

i hate too much on here, i'm not nice to people on the internet.

holy shit i hate on the ski community much for loving skiing so much.

So many people stroke their ego about their handmade skis from a small local company. It's like telling people about how you're vegan because you're against animal cruelty. Some kid at Killington gave me shit for riding Heads once. Like I get it, your parents dropped 2 grand on your setup.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind if people wanna talk about how good their skis are and buying skis made by skiers is very cool but like shut the fuck up already.

Skiing needs more criticism. I’ll start by making it clear I’m washed up as hell and haven’t hit a legit street spot in like 5 years.

great movie. sick crew and stoked to see what these fellas put together going forward. Jed is the future, most of the others were new to an old head like myself but a lot of good styles and spots. Disaster at 9:08 specifically stood out as something different and really sick

but the ender clip??? dude’s back and hands are on the ground then he falls into the snow bank. Fine for a mid movie shot but the ender? it’s a heavy ass clip, i’ve ridden by this rail on my bike coming out of empire and seen it in person. It’s a huge transfer. would love to see homie go back and ride that one out clean

Really not even hating on Jai specifically more the ski community as a whole for not holding a standard to this stuff. sloppy landing like that would never fly in a snowboard video ender.

Definitely agree on this one. Feel like I've been seeing this a lot recently, where a street video is filled with bangers, but then the ender is some mid or sketchy tricky that just leaves an unfulfilled feeling to the whole video. Get your shit together and focus on the tricks and clip order instead of your shitty dancing b roll no one at all wants to see.

nah jai’s clip lit af there’s like no outrun for going that fast. stuff being perfect is not it anymore, little loose has that natural charm. perfect can be for the olympics

Oh the institutionalized child abuse centers where kids die all the time? I went to one of those. I still deal with trauma daily. They should be fucking illegal. Great joke though, I guess.
