Oh I agree 100% about the G-S act's repealing being the very beginning of the end, but it was far from the only factor at play in the gangbanging of our economic climate by industry, taxation and rampant spending.

first off, I will have children falling from all kinda of different twats. Second, what im saying is the extremely wealthy (yes people I am related too) give soooo much back to our community and country as a hole that if they didnt the surrounding community at least would feel it pretty hard. My family has also worked to save over 1 million acres of land in the US so that outdoor type people like our selves can have places to go hiking and skiing and such. With out the uber rich helping as much as they do things would be a lot shittier. I know from you just said you didnt come from a rich family but I can tell you philanthropy goes a lot further than I think you know.

And sorry for the stab but you made it seem like you were just complaining about some people with more paying less than you even though it probably equals out when you find out how much they give away to have a lower tax rate.

In all sincerity I wish you luck in expanding your business and that someday you can reach the ranks of only paying 3 or 4% income tax a year.

I've worked both landscaping jobs (3 summers) and cubicle jobs and I would 100% say that desk jobs are much more difficult. All these people saying landscapers work harder are only talking about physical work. Even then its a toss up. When you work landscaping, you spend however many hours a day doing physical labor. After, you come home, have a beer and relax and don't have to worry about the hole you were digging earlier.

A hedge fund manager may technically work 12 hour days, but when he is "off" he or she is ALWAYS on their phone or computer answering emails, checking news. Their job is 24 hrs a day. The stress is tremendous which is why they get paid so much. There are few high paying jobs that don't entail a lot of stress. People bitch and moan when they have to work more, then bitch and moan when they don't get enough benefits. The entitlement that has been created in society the past 15 years is absolutely ridiculous.
 
exactly, people complain about how much mitt has payed recently in income taxes, but thats because in the past few years he has donated millions of dollars to charity, which drives down his tax rate.

Everything you know is because you read about it somewhere in black and white. I'll use myself as an example - i've worked my ass of for the last 14-15 years to get to where i am now. I make a lot of money now- but still, i want more... i want to be able to retire asap and spend the majority of my life just doing cool stuff, not having to worry about money... or work...

How can anyone NOT want that? Beat the system right - the system that's ingrained into your heads from school saying you must go to school, college, then work your whole life for somebody else... then die.... yay... fuck that.

BUT - you have to butter the bread to make the sandwich... I pay a lot of tax on what i earn... a lot, but i don't complain - that's par for the course. The money I have left over after taxes - i put into trading accounts and property... and then use that to take things to the next level.... i've already been taxed on my earnings - and i will be taxed again (at 15%) on earnings made from simply moving MY OWN hard earned money around...

How is that not paying in to the system? How is that NOT fair? If you look at some of these top boys, we're talking millions and millions of dollars a year going in to the system (not to mention charity donations and all that nonsense) - how can any of you complain about that? These guys work their assess off - and yeah, it's probably only about 1-5% of people who have that drive, ambition, dedication and mindset to make it... YES mindset... they don't spend all evening on an Xbox or smoking weed, they spend it reading, researching, working on how to take things to the next level... huge sacrifices you, and most people simply are too lazy to take. Maybe you have other values, which is great - but you cannot complain about those people who value success - it's a free world, make of it what you can / will - you get one shot.

You make your own choices, and you need to live by them and let others live by there's. The US needs some central, bi-partisan politics that are fiscally conservative and socially liberal - but that just isn't going to happen is it - so, you'll be in exactly the same position in 4 years time.

I do both every day and there is a very huge difference. The shop stuff is hard work, the desk bullshit is mind blowingly stressful and frustrating but it is not hard it just takes forever and irks me to no end.

And your point about how the system is not fair brings up a whole bunch of other questions, I'm sure you know that really, the majority of people who are 'rich', for the sake of clarity let's say in the top 5% of total wealth, don't earn their wealth, they inherit it. Sure there's people that work hard, but the majority of the time, they come from a relatively privileged background to begin with. All this 'it's all mindset' bullshit is rubbish.

Personally, I couldn't care less if I had a lambo or not, I don't really want to work hard, so at least it's a conscious choice. I ski 230+ days per year, and go on holiday in exotic places around the world for the rest, screw working in an office for the best part of your life.

Anyhow, I do agree that American politics is hilarious, just for a start, the dude believes in Mormonism. This stuff that he got caught saying is surely what everyone already knew republicans thought already.

A one off payment of 1 million does not make you rich - what makes you rich is being able to generate a passive income, so that you never have to work again, and can do all the things you talk about....

When you hear these stories of lottery winners becoming bankrupt 2-3 yrs after winning the money - it's because they don't have the "mindset" of what truly rich means.... rich to me is not about money - it's about lifestyle and freedom.

Teach a man to fish and all that nonesense. That's why it doesn't matter whether it's 1 million in the US or 10,000 in the poorest part of africa. What makes you truly Rich is making that money work for you, allowing you to not work for money. That's what the truly rich are.... forget bank account size... If you look through history also, this is a major economic stimulant and somewhat a self fulfilling prophecy - success breeds success.

It might be a difficult concept to grasp - but this is the problem with Kids today - way too short sighted... they think a CEO who earns 5 million a year, but works 70hrs a week is "rich". Sure - he has cash... but look at the sacrifices... (again why i said before you shouldn't complain about these people - some people want to ski 230 days a year and live like students for their whole lives - that's awesome and a commendable dream to have - until you injure yourself or something...)

I don't buy your inheritance theory.... I have never inherited a penny... the internet has created more self made millionaires than inheritance ever has since it's inception - you just need to drive to go out and make something for yourself - if that's what makes you happy. When you get to my age (32) you'll probably have a different opinion... there are no easy ways to generate that optimum lifestyle. I want to bank it, and put it to work so i don't have to...

But, and here is my point, a portion of this thread (and NS) think that this is morally wrong... and I shouldn't achieve my dream, and I should continue working until i'm 70, paying big taxes....why? Because that's what you've always been told by society? well, I have new's for you my pedigree chums.

 
This has more to do with land management than politics. The federal government has to pay Utah more than we pay them because they have to pay the state for the land they own. It has nothing to do with party politics.
