i dont go to harvard. i go to a slightly inferior law school. i have no criminal record. i got off because i had a free lawyer (a public defender) and had to plea guilty. my parents money had nothing to do with it. I paid my price. i did get kicked out of school. i did get tossed in jail.

and yet i climbed out of that dark place to get to where i am now on my own. the median income at my law school is 165k. i dont know about the other 50% but i dont plan on finishing below the median. I know i wont finish below the median because i work harder than the other 50%.

I have rich connections because i take initiative to meet everyone i see. My parents arent rich. And even if they were how is that in any way relevant?

I pay for everything myself. I have 210k of debt. I pay nearly 7% interest on that.

the 36k will be going to the guy who makes 80k or the poor kid, its called the transitive property of math dumbass. 170k pays 33%. 80k pays 25%. 170x.33= 56k .80x.33=20k. No matter how you spin it, there is a difference of 36k on the balance sheet between me and the guy who makes 80k. If you take the average between our payments, then, I am giving you 18k a year. A YEAR. (i misspoke earlier)

I honestly dislike Obama and Romney. I will admit I was quite the advocate of Romney and still kind of am, but in the end I don't think it matters who is president.

More likely than not, you CHOSE not to pursue any of these.

If the answered no to any of those questions then i see no reason to pay more taxes than you. You have the tools, you choose not to use them. If the job market is shitty, u can go to grad school where it is certainly not shitty. What is stopping you?

And by giving 36k i mean i am giving him 36k to cover his tax burden. If the federal government split its required revenue evenly among all of our citizens ppl would go broke. I am supplying the money to him, in order to pay his equal share to the government of which we have equal rights and protections.
 
err, because you live in a country, with a government, and that's how it works, unfortunately. i know, i get all pissed off when i see how much i pay in taxes as well, but it's either that or being a fuckin asshole that doesn't pay taxes and thinks public toilets clean themselves. both parties are gonna make you pay taxes dude, every fuckin country on earth is gonna make you pay taxes, and the country you live in is in trillions of dollars of debt and you owe them thousand of dollars just for being a citizen. just be glad you don't live in a financially stable first-world nation run by people who actually realize that taxes are supposed to be high, and especially high for those who can afford it. i mean, there is an alternative, you could always just build and fly a spaceship to another planet where taxes don't exist but then you'd be very alone.

yeah man why don't we cut all government services such as law enforcement, firemen, all four branches of the military, public transportation, libraries, waste management, and highway and road building and maintenance while we're at it.

because, hey, you shouldn't have to pay for anything that helps anyone less fortunate than you, right? and therefore by that logic people who are more successful than you shouldn't be paying anything to help you out in life, yet i'm sure you have used and are affected by every one of those things i've listed most days of your life. your life relies on and is benefitted by government services daily, don't forget that.
 
obviously i have to pay taxes. i dont mind paying taxes. i wouldnt care if we had a progressive tax bracket, if i had to pay 51% taxes if my country needed it, anything it doesnt matter.

What i care about is the rhetoric attitude and resentment of successful people. People need to quit bitching. My point with the taxes is, we are in relatively similar postions yet i will be paying nearly 3 times the taxes of ppl on this site simply through choice.

Its not because i victimized you, its not because i had these dramatic advantages. its simply because i work harder.

Ive been on this site for almost 7 years. I have maintained my position all 7 years while people like Gnartron have done the same. We have gone down 2 paths. I will be paying 3 times as much tax as him for a decade. Why? Because he chose to pursue videos and skiing or w/e? That was his choice, i respect it.

But what i dont respect is when he thinks im taking money or the world was better to me or some stupid shit like that. You all should realize it is your own choices that you make what you make, and you have the power to improve, and you should iimprove where you can.

im not saying i am giving the 18k directly to someone. I am saying that if the fed govt split its demand evenly among all people some ppl would go bankrupt. So i am giving them 18k more to pay the govt so they get to keep 18k more of their own income. What i mean is i am giving you 18k to give to the govt.

I already said the median income at graduation at my school is 165k. That means half the school, at graduation, will make more than 165k their first year. I get paid that because i have 200k of debt and took risk.

If the govt subsidized my 200k, first of all where would that 200k come from? It would have to come from the surplus of ppl making more than that. We would have to give 200k to every student who wants to pursue higher education which would be everyone since its free. Who would be making that much to give 200k to every college grad every year? Why would anyone graduating from those places be in demand?

I am very glad the govt DID NOT GIVE ME THE 200K. I gain motivation to clear my debt which makes me a more productive person.

I never said making 200k a year is rich. In fact what i am trying to point out is that its the opposite. Its easily attainable. And it is rich enough to get us out of debt in one year. (if we took our nat debt and divided by working population its only like ~90k/person). And its not even the income im worried about. Im worried about the productive effort ppl like to contribute.

Ppl think guys like romney are selfish. I see people who decide to spend their time skiing as selfish. You could be producing more but you dont because you want to pursue your personal hobbies which have no benefit to society. On the other hand, no matter what you think about Bain capital laying off employees, it still has a net positive impact (albiet a small one) on society, at least financially.

I think Romney comes across as fairly intelligent in these videos. He is speaking very frankly about the upcoming election and basically telling it how it IS, not how we are supposed perceive the workings of a presidential campaign.

This country and every country is built on laborers and the workforce. those who build roads, houses, general shit. Those who educate our children, protect us from fire and criminals. All those people are no where near rich yet contribute far more than any fat cat with a cigar sittin on his wealth. Everything you can do or use is possible because people less fortunate than you made it possible through there labour.

I said "why should i have to pay more tax?" to make ppl realize that the reason i pay more tax is because they made decisions to end up in the middle class. The answer to "why should i have to pay more tax?" is: people have freedom of choice.

And that answer should disuade people that guys like romney or me are not dicks. The people who choose not to be doctors and lawyers because they want to ski or rollerblade are the childish dicks.

And there are larger theories but you assume the status quo will always be the status quo. Your line of reasoning could be extended to railroad workers. I could ask you: you like riding the train? You like eating? You like getting your photographs processed?

There are tons of things we used to have jobs for but no longer have demand for. Im not saying everyone needs to be a doctor or lawyer but they can all certainly get smarter. Eventually we wont need mechanics because people will be smart enough to build robots that build robots. I want people to flip my steak but only if they are good at it.

All i am asking for is a mixture of realism and effort. People in this country are unrealistic about their futures and very lathargic on them. That is my point. That people like romney seem like dicks because they are 1 realistic and 2 active.
 
no we trade. there is no way those people contribute far more than doctors lawyers and good business executives. All the people that "contribute" made choices that were easier, paths of least resistence. They were unwilling to take up hardship. they are all publically schooled. They know if they try they can get an A. But they make the cost benefit decision to not get that A because they delve in the short term.

All these fat cats you imagine dont exist. They are extremely hard working people who work far more and take far more risk than "laborers".

Im not saying laborers dont work hard. Im saying they dont work as hard relatively. And by laborer i dont mean the extremely poor. I mean the middle class like insurance salesmen and such.

We only need them insofar as our society demands them. But if everyone was smarter, there might not be demand for them. In fact, i would say modern society has shed most demand for them and that is why there is so much unemployed.

It's a different skillset entirely for the trades, and someone like you I can imagine would not be able to produce work of any quality with years of training and practice. It's also mentalities like yours that transpire onto those who have the skillset for both to chose an academic path rather than a trades related path resulting in a loss of brains in many industries. this is a huge and unfortunate loss; as a result tradesmen are no longer nearly as skilled as they once were. I blame it on those who look down upon them. people like yourself. you're a blight on society in many ways.

also what's more useful:

- someone who can sue your neighbour when their septic tank overflows and causes some unpleasantries on your property

or

- someone who can fix the gad damn sewage system
