Just wondering what most people think of it. It's ok if you wouldn't ever join, just want to know how you see it as a typical American.
 
I would never join and if I got drafted I would do everything I could to get out of it. I don't want to get put in a situation where I would have to kill people or be killed.

It's fucked that they have to die for a worthless cause. I wouldn't join because I don't agree with the govenments reasons for fighting.

We probaly wouldnt even have to use our military if we kept our noses out of other countries shit, why the fuck cant we be like canada. We shouldnt go around forcing our ways to other countries seriously if we go into another war I am striaght up leaving to whistler with friends. It really pisses me off when people start calling me a "hippy" or how im so ungrateful about having the oppurtunity to live in america but i really dont get it, so i can drive around in a car that is 2x the size of others in europe and other countries while fucking up the o-zone at the same time then being told i have complete freedom but then gettin arrested for having some bud on me while people are being murdered and robbed then having to deal with our presidents fuck-ups that could bring death to hundreds of thousands young men and women and the fact that our government lies to us so much its getting redik
 
damn it's crazy how public opinion can shift. like 3 or 4 years ago, just when iraq was getting going, supilot and lineskier and basically everyone on this website was all yea yea the war is the best possible thing for this country, anyone who disagrees is a pussy, yada yada....

i haven't seen these kids on here in awhile though, i wonder if their opinions have changed.
 
if the military was more badass i would join , today its a bunch of fucking retarted right wing assholes who couldnt knock out a fucking pregnant paraplegic midget, if we were more ruthless like the british in the revolutionary war i would totally be into it. the only part of the military i have any respect for and any interest in are the special forces(seals,rangers,delta etc) the national guard and reserve are a fucking joke too.
 
also might i add that the training our troops get is weak, if we had a small number(20k) of very highly trained troops we could do anything.
 
if some country was invading us. like maybe the chinese when they realize calling our debt could be genius to topple our country. I would go and fight, because fuck letting someone come into your homeland and fuck it up.

But I also think that going and fucking with other countries. ie. iraq and iran, ultimately will lead to a massacre if they move into iran. that will be fucked up. everytime a country has stepped outside of it's borders and taken on domination strategy has led to their fall. Hitler only lasted for so long. Rome fell.

A country's military should be for protecting its homeland. and so in times of crisis. ie. Hurricane Katrina. They could be used to help evacuate, and rebuild the damaged parts of our country, and make it a better place. And then if somebody came and fucked with us, they'd take up arms. That's how it should be used.

but i would actually kind of like to join the forces. they pay off your college, yet you still serve for them afterwards, i think its worth the $$$ imo. But, i've heard some pretty brutal stories from iraq, such as a sgt. getting arrested for raping a girl and killing her family around her then shooting her in the head. other then that, i wouldn't mind, but theres other things i would rather do in life.

And i dont care what any of you have to say. Because they pay 100% of my college tutition i just recieved a $20,000 signing bonus and i get paid 900 bux a month to work 2 days!!

I did it cuz it was really one of the only ways i could go to college now it has me financially set...I dare you to knock that

Thats really funny cus the government fucked us over then too

roosevelt said he would stay completly nuetral after being relected but then started to provoke japan and germany by making a fleat of ships in the pacific so their would be no way that japan could get into america to attack and made it look like we were going to attack them so we go to war and could get germany's oil since once we would be in war with japan and germany too but his plan was discovered by Admiral J.O. Richardson and was forced to stop then the japanese found out that pearl habor was for targetting japan and all hell broke loose
 
everybody in the military today wants to be a hero like the people in ww2 movies. but those days are over but all the people cant get over that so we have to go fuck with other countrys to start wars so then we can have more heros who want to die for their country.

whatever, there is no freedom in this country anyways so who cares

Um, China can't "call" us out on our debt. If they did such a thing they would lose all corporate progression that has been made there for the past 5 years and would completely destroy their own economy.

Travel the world come back and tell me this country doesn't have any freedom. Where do you get your "hero" basis? My neighbors in the army and he does his job and doesn't try to be heroic. You are just making a retarded generalization with absolutely no supporting evidence.
 
Well it's no lie that the US has the hgihest military budget by far. It is questionable as to whether we should have that nor not, but that's besides the point.

The military provides great opportunities to that of lower-class families. They get to go to school, get good experience, and ultimately end up with a job. These are the same kids that were expelled in high school and didn't graduate. I think it's a great social benefit, but the whole direction we are headed is going to mess us up in the future.

Our military is far too spread and far too envoloped in world issues. We need to back down a little from being the big shot on campus. It will prove once we are no longer the super power and others have passed us. Then again, where do you think our country makes a lot of money? The military industry...
 
explain how us paying china our trillions in debt would destroy their economy.......please, im all ears. Quit acting like one action is going to destroy them bro, this isnt a global economy, yet.

The truth is, you have to pay a loan back someday. If you are smart and invest smartly with the money you got loaned, you will make all that money back, which is the exact opposite of what we are doing.
