What Car Should I Buy?

Alright so I have $10k - 20k to spend on a car. 20k is the max, with taxes. Needs to be rwd or awd (this is not for skiing), and built after 2000. Here is what I'm considering:

Honda S2000:

Nissan 350Z

Evo 7 (kind a pain in the ass to import to Canada, but on the plus their extremely rare)

Subaru STI

Orr???????????????????????????????

Honda s2000 feels like a girls car to me, so I dunno. 350Z is sick, I love hatch backs and nissans. Evo is practical but not really a head turner. I've always liked STI's but I feel like people beat the shit out of them. Would be a sick all year round car though, and holds its value. I dunno what to do. What do you guys think.

half the kids on here will say STI when more than half of them have no clue about them other than everyone else says theyre the best car to buy zomggg subaruuuu... coming from experience with modding and having a wrx wagon i could help you if you wer one and had questions about mods

vw golfs seem pretty cool

same with vw gtis if you feel like upping it a little and getting subwoofers stock

People do beat the hell out of the subarus. I was in the market for a new car lately, and you could get a new 2010 subaru impreza 5-door(not wrx or sti, basic) for like around 18,500. Spend the extra money on a new stereo system and roof rack and your good. You could even use it for skiing too.

Not really interesting in modding the car I"m going to buy. I've had some pretty cool right hand drive cars modded out and stuff, but I'm going to have a full time job and need something reliable.

As for the VW golf, I'm not really interested in a fwd car.

And ya I'm expecting a lot of sti answers hahaa

get a new jetta tdi. hella nice interior, well built, and super fuel mileage. plus they look decent

im gonna throw in my 2 cents.
buy an audi s4
is used in your option ? if so you could buy used, maybe put a little money into it ? stage 2 maybe ?
turbo, amazing drive, and quick.

so there you go, go with an s4, you can find some legit deals with low miles.
if you have 20k you could buy a brand new car fyi... maybe nothing like an s4 but maybe a jeep or a honda civic or something
but yeah i say s4 or s4 wagon.. like i said turbo, and you can throw on a bov like you said they make you jizz your pants.
maybe a volvo ?

between the sti and evo, the evo is the only one you should go with. STI's are the cars people buy when they want a sports car but have no clue what makes a good car or how to drive. STI's understeer like crazy, have a pretty dull steering feel, and really arent that great in snow compared to other AWD cars.
the EVO is a much better balanced car, has much better feel, will destroy an STI in the snow and pretty much any environment. only thing i dont like is the active yaw control they use after a certain year, i think 05.. so try to get an 04. dont worry about getting an MR. ive heard mixed thoughts about wether its better than a normal evo or not. and dont lower it.
s2000's are awesome. dont be one of those douche bags who calls cars like s2000's and miatas or mx5's chick cars. they will outperform basically any non "chick" car in the same price range. the s2000's engine is amazing, it just keeps revving and has an awesome power band. it also handles amazingly well, is super well balanced, but the only thing is ive heard that they have a problem where when the suspension compresses enough the rear alignment changes and can make the car suddenly loose control, its cheap to fix, but just thought id add that.
350z's are awesome too. basically a hard top s2000. ive only ridden in one so cant really comment on what its like driving it.
and just dont even consider an s4, they are legit cars, but extremely unreliable and expensive as shit to fix. if your looking for something german, like you should ;) look at an e46 m3 or m coupe. both are awesome, i personally love the m coupe. i know you said newer than 2000, but if your looking at an m3, the e30 and e36 m3's are much better cars, and cheaper. ive driven all 3, and the e30 and e36 are sooo much better than the e46. the e46 is still a better car IMO than an sti s2k or 350z.
and just some personal advice, dont let a turbo be a deciding factor, turbo lag/bad powerband sucks ass, i know it sounds super cool and showy, but for actual performance NA is the best.
another car to consider is a newer mx5, i know you probably think its a "chick car" but go drive one and you will realize its a much better DRIVERS car than any car ive mentioned except for the e30 and e36 m3. and pretty damn quick, faster than its numbers would have you think.
if i had 20k to spend it would be between an mx5, and a real nice e30 m3.

totally disagree with your comments about the sti, they handle amazing, and an evo better in snow than an sti ? are you smoking crack, not a chance. my buddys sti, smokes our other buddys evo in any condition. We've put it to the test, my wrx out handles the evo too. i can't stand the way evos drive

If you can, find an evo 8, like extreme11 said, sti's really aren't all they're cracked up to be, unless a hell of a lot of work is done to them, which it doesn't sound like you're doing. Evo's blow sti's out of the water, and they look cooler.

but i do agree with your m3 comments, my has one and i prefer to drive it over my wrx when i can. Don't rule out s4's they're expensive to fix but if you maintain anything why should it break ? freak accidents can happen but chances are slim.

haha word, that was a joke for one of my buddys. how bout you keep my facebook bussiness on facebook mr. christopher pehl :p

and for you kids that can't even drive stop posting usless shit such as the evos " look cooler" and " out perform" sti's because i guarantee you've never driven both let alone even one.

if you're making fun of stanced cars you can shut the fuck up right there. Coilovers and spacers makae a car look much cleaner(most cases)

totally forgot about GLI's my buddy got one a few months ago. Light as fuck and pretty quick with the stock turbo.

Making 50k a year I don't see how dropping 15k on a car is a massive deal. Especially when its something I'm looking at and using multiple times a day.

need awd or rwd dont go german unless you have a great job or parents that will help with repairs. find someone to replace a bi-turbo in a s4 or even better go price a head gasket on an m3. you will shit. cost to own is much lower on a japanese car although sti and evo parts arent cheap but they hold there resale value a lot better than an m3 or s4 or any other german car in ur budget that is worth buying. i love german technology and build quality but there is nothing worse then being stuck at home because you cant afford to fix that dope car in the driveway. just my opinion
