Vice Presidential Debate

palin got off easy on the same sex, biden also owned her on the war in iraq, palin said "we have to wait until afghanistan is ready to take over" but isnt the whole obama plan to make them take responsibiliy of their own country without having to 'win' the war

lol i thought it was funny when she was like "obama and o'biden". just a mistake but still funny. joe biden even thought it was funny lol

I'm going to say that at least his position is consistent.

if man created global warming man can fix global warming; if global warming is just nature, what'cha gonna do?

and this is whether it be the case or not -- (it is my understanding that ice caps are significantly effected by soot pollutants that accumulate on the surface-- dark spots that absorb more heat, basically drill holes in the ice, then provide a lubricant allowing the ice to slide-- i'll say it's plausible)

This pisses me off so much: A NO-FLY ZONE WAS THE SOLUTION IN DARFUR IN 2003, NOT 2008! Typical, politicians reducing the "hot issues" to mindless talking points.

She just agreed with him on the no-fly zone thing. Except she used the phrase "What I done".

Yeah, stopping genocide would be a good thing. But right now, a no-fly zone won't do that - it'll cut off over 2 million people from the airborne humanitarian aid that keeps them alive.

As for Biden's "I never agreed with McCain's Iraq strategy".....hmmmm...it turns out McCain's strategy was right and Biden's was wrong. Why differentiate yourself on that point?

what 'stratagy'? I don't understand how the 'surge' is a success, it's less of a failure right now, but all we're doing is giving money to the people who want to kill us, when we stop paying them, they'll have all this money able to orchestrate an attack...

Hahahaha....I love Biden's little "Look at me, I know about a small town" schpeel. "Walk down Union Street in Wilmington, come into Katie's Restaurant." Hahahaha...is that the Andy Griffith theme song I hear?

He was pretty obvious in his meaning, the original strategy, in lockstep with Cheney, greeted as liberators...

Biden has been extremely successful in this debate in getting his point of McCain = Bush across in terms of total time spent. Palin's been very successful in the whole "stop looking backwards" point, though, it's pretty endearing, particularly the answer she's giving now.

Hahaha...yeah, that one too. This whole thing is ridiculous, but still, Palin's doing a hell of a lot better than anybody expected after those recent interviews.

She is by far one of the worst debaters i have ever seen. This should have been a pay per view event, would have been a real money maker.

She just shouted out to some 3rd graders...

I'll agree she's doing better than I thought she would, but she's so fucking annoying...

She's been doing it a lot too... the "joe six pack" comment had my hand over my face. But she countered that response really well, the "extra credit" line worked brilliantly.

I really hope they get back to education.

It is so obvious how much more intelligent Biden is than Palin, she pretty much rambles off sound bytes and nothing really is organized logically.

The surge was definitely a success - it wasn't the only thing that's led to Iraq's turnaround in the past year, but that wouldn't have happened without it. And Biden certainly implied that the surge is a success when he talked about why it wouldn't work in Afghanistan.

i still don't think it's commendable to be doing better than awful.

Is she going to/can she stand up to this standard in her next interview?

lol on the vice prez subject palin was talking about what it means and she said "john mccain has already tapped me" of course she followed with "and told me i would lead these points, etc"

By the way, this has to be the most entertaining VP debate ever. Really watchable and way, way better than last friday's.

If Biden didn't think that would be the outcome, why did he vote in favor of the war? You mean he was the only person that saw this bloodbath coming and he STILL supported it? Shit, the man must be a total psychopath.

"Cheney is the most dangerous Vice President in American history."

No kidding, he shoots people in the face. DUCK!

Hold on...I was distracted by NS for a second and all I caught of Biden's last response was that the VP isn't a part of the legislative branch. Did he really say that? He didn't really say that, did he? It's too bad the average American wouldn't catch that anyway.

Are you watching or just typing? His response was what he was voting for was the power to use sanctions of leverage, and warned that if there was a war, any action without the support of a broad coalition would lead to ten years of war and cost billions of dollars. So that's his response.

She's rambling now.

Yeah you caught me. Actually, I'll say this now:

I wouldn't.

But then I don't hunt cougar.

there palin is again with her "this is a nation of equal rights" blah blah blah....

Then support them you idiot!

She seriously needs to stop saying Maverick.

shit. i would

as long as she didnt scream out randomness as we did it

putins head! alaska watches russia! taxes! economy!

Palin doesn't have any specific arguments, everything is really generalized and kinda sounds the same. It is hard to tell what question she is answering sometimes.

"John McCain is the man we need to leave." - Sarah Palin

Hahaha. Not seriously, but that's a pretty bad slip of the tongue right there.

Biden is ripping McCain a new one.

Hey, you get no argument from me, I just quoted you his answer. If you'd been here 5 or 6 years ago you would've seen page long threads from me ranting about how terrible an idea the war was and how obvious it was that the WMD thing was a farce. But he makes one good point; McCain's sound bytes from back then are utterly damning, he sounds like Cheney.
