Vice Presidential Debate

I think they're both doing WAY better than the top of their tickets did at getting their messages across. The "Ultimate bridge to nowhere" line was a good line and should be adequate to make a few news shows. Palin isn't answering ANY of the questions, she's been getting off-track a lot, but generally she sounds like she knows what she's talking about more or less and that's all she needs to do to meet her threshold of success.

However at the moment she's talking about circulating money internationally and it sounds like it's scripted, so... if you're going to deliver a scripted answer, wait until the question it relates to is asked, maybe?
 
And then Biden comes back with a better response, so much for energy being Palin's talking point. She's only getting by on charisma now... and even that seems to be fading.
 
Shes doing well but i think she will crumble on foreign policy

and biden is doing a really good job of refuting some of her statements, which she hasnt done.
 
Logic check:

If you don't think that man contributes to a majority of climate change, and you attribute a majority of the change to earths natural cycles, any 'fixing' you do will not have any effect on the majority of climate change.

why then aught we spend any money on 'fixing' the environment
 
Biden just won the point on environment and alternative energy. This whole same-sex couple thing is pretty much dead even, I'd say they're both saying exactly the same things you'd expect.
 
what biden should have said was "yeah you really care about energy independence from these countries that don't have our best interests in mind, hence the 6 billion dollar tax break for exxon mobil."

I also would have called her out on her nonstop bullshit about bipartisanship. "so, was barack obama actually calling you a pig, or was all that just a bipartisan friendly ribbing?"
 
Biden's statements on Iraq ignore the fact that there IS a timeline now and that the Iraqi military is now in control of much of the country, but Palin's "white flag" response was a bit of over the top rhetoric. Expected though, I guess.

So far I have heard her refute biden and get the dreaded "you didnt answer the question" when ever she starts.

I did use the bathroom, I could have missed an answer.

I like how when she says something silly Biden looks down and smirks.

IDK, to be a bit frank my foreign politics is a bit rusty, however there is a man up there who has been dealing with it for years, i'll consider what he's saying as a good way to deal with it
 
This is a GREAT answer by Biden.

She's significantly less irritating than expected. The last little bit she's been incredibly predictable. I assume this is all scripted.
 
Biden is clearly winning. Every response by Palin is flustered and halted. She dodges the question, and then dives into one of her attacking points, a point which is often unrelated. Biden has been able to counter every one of her points with better clarity and logic. One point stands out in particular to me: Palin says she is "tolerant" of same sex couples, but would not support equal rights between heterosexual and homosexual couples. How is discriminating against same sex couples tolerance? How is depriving same sex couples of equal rights tolerance? Imagine if 75 years ago a politician claimed to be tolerant of black people, as long as they couldn't vote or be equal to white people. I think most of us would look back and not call such a statement a manifestation of tolerance. Sarah Palin has no tolerance. The fact that she could be in a position of power, or God forbid become president, scares me.

So you trust the guy who voted for the invasion, against the surge, supported a 3-state solution, and still advocated a no-fly zone over Darfur in 2008? Just because he's been doing it a long time? You know, Bush has been President for a good little while, you trust him too?
 
I'm honestly very surprised by Palin right now, i think she's holding her own, and making good remarks to questions and statements. I wasn't expecting that to happen at all, thought it would be a slaughter. I'm impressed.
 
Hahaha...and you think Biden is just winging it? He stayed out late drinking last night, thinking, "Ah, fuck it, I don't need to prepare anything"? Right.
 
His foreign policy extends beyond the Iraq war, I don't think anyone really knew how to handle this mess

But the fact is Iraq is a BIG issue right now, and Biden was clearly very wrong about it.

He just won the point on employing the surge in Afghanistan, though - it won't work there. The surge was important in Iraq, but it was by no means the only factor that's led to the increase in stability. And the other necessary factors just aren't present in Afghanistan at this point.
 
Hmmm, true... But didn't humans... I don't know, accelerate the whole process to where it is now relevant in our lifetime?
 
I don't feel like Palin really knows what she is talking about. She isn't doing as terribly as I expected, but she isn't doing to wonderfully to say the least. Biden is slaying. But let me see this, have you ever seen such a negative couple of campaigns? Its terrible. Half of the damn debate is just McCain sucks, Obama sucks. yada yada yada.
