"we need to prioritize, like a family" we arent a family!
He is proposing taxx cuts, 300 billion, with 4 billion tax cuts on big oil. "Thats taking away from the system." I'm going to change this, reform them all, make new policies "to make sure they are working for you"... the government is NOT working for us! i've said this a million times. we arent working for the government, they are not working for us. Milton Friedman: "Neither half of the statement expresses a relation between the citizen and his government that is worthy of the ideals of free men in a free society. The paternalistic "what your country can do for you" implies that government is the patron, the citizen the ward, a view that is at odds with the free man's belief in his own responsibility for his own destiny. The organismic, "what you can do for your country" implies that government is the master or the deity, the citizen, the servant or votary. To the free man, the country is a collection of individuals who compose it, not something over and above them. He is proud of a common heritage and loyal to common traditions. But he regards government as a means, an instrumentality, neither a grantor of favors and gifts, nor a master or god to be blindly worshipped and served. He recognizes no national purpose except as it is the consensus of the purposes for which the citizens severally strive.
The free man will ask neither what his country can do for him nor what he can do for his country. He will ask rather "What can I and my compatriots do through government" to help us discharge our individual responsibilities, to achieve our several goals and purposes, and above all, to protect our freedom? And he will accompany this question with another: How can we keep the government we create from becoming a Frankenstein that will destroy the very freedom will destroy the very freedom we establish it to protect? Freedom is a rare and delicate plant. Our minds tell us, and history confirms, that the great threat to freedom is the concentration of power. Government is necessary to preserve our freedom, it is an instrument through which we can exercise our freedom; yet concentrating power in political hands, it is also a threat to freedom.
i just read an article and this is what they said about milton friedmans book and FDR and obama's beliefs:
Those words were published in 1962, and yet, somehow, they presciently challenge 2008's candidate of change. In taking on JFK's vision of an American united by a singularity of purpose, Friedman also dismantles Obama's dream of each citizen burdened with an obligation to be responsible for all other citizens. By juxtaposing JFK's message of subservience to government with the ideal of freedom, Friedman destroys Obama's notion that government is the provider of opportunities and the benevolent master of our destinies. In other words, Obama's rhetoric is so shopworn and predictable, so mired in the politics and policies of the past, as to be rebuttable by a book from the year he was born.
How Can You Break the Habit f Debt and Easy Credit?
"Sharing the burden?" It's tough to ask a teacher to tighten her belt when someone else is living on the hump. We all need to make sacrifices (95% of America will see tax breaks).
I thought McCain should have spoken about how Bill Clinton promised everyone tax cuts but we saw increases around the board.
Huge unfunded liabilities (key questions, neither answered the question)
Great joke McCain, thats hilarious haha "I'll answer the question" then he cracks up. made me laugh

Privlidge , Right, or Responsibility. Great question.
The answers here basically outline the difference between Obama and McCain supporters IMO.
Obama- its a right. "we are wealthy enough", i dont care. it is NOT the governments job to mandate or give health care for all citizens. you all think you deserve this. you don't, what have you done to deserve it?
McCain- it is the governments responsibility to make healthcare affordable.
I just have a problem with all of Obama's thoughts that we are a family, helping our brothers across the nation, we have a right to the government giving us healthcare, and medicare, and this jazz, its bogus. The government is around to insure our freedoms, simply put. It is there to ensure that we can do what we want! I have to do laundry and get to class but these are my initial thoughts. yeah sorry thats long
