Town Hall Debate

bitchass, your just eating him out for his ignorant statements, not even talking about the issue. Look up at my response and quit avoiding the issue.

selling crack pays more than mcdonalds home boy.

why should other people be entitled to money my family made for future family to have?

btw drew and corked, im just wondering what exactly you do to help the less fortunate in your country?

if u would read a few pages back in the the other thread that was made that is like 8 pages long u would see that i agree with you on what you have to say about ceo's of large corps. my grandfather does not work for a large corp. he works at a foundation that gives millions of dollars a year to america.

im assuming your talking about this quote? first of all, noones shouldering my burden. right now my parents pay for my healthcare, and once i get a job ill have my own.

then i have no idea what your saying. why should others have to pay more into taxes than me? because they make more and can afford it, simple as that. its not like those additional taxes are gonna kill them, they will still be making an absurd amount of money, and be able to afford far more than 95% of society.

as for non-governmental organizations, where would they get the money? there are charities and whatnot out there but clearly that isnt enough because the majority of people have yours and kushblunts mentality, "its my money and only mine", and are unwilling to donate or pay into one of those systems.

cool story? if hes already worth all this money you claim, whats your point? oooh hes making such a sacrifice.

read what i have said jesus christ. we donate money land all sorts of shit we dont donate you taxes to pay your medical bills wtf man.

oh your such a hero.

im done.

clearly the poor choose to be poor. and all those that are rich worked their asses off to be rich, it has nothing to do with being born into privilege, or in the case of the poor, the lack thereof, that has to do with their inability to support healthcare.

Let me just walk you through some misunderstandings.

The burden I was talking about is your belief that everyone is entitled to healthcare. So my question was: Why should everyone have to work towards your goal(of everyone having healthcare) when they disagree? Are you not making everyone work/give towards your goal in proposing a universal free health care? But even crazier, is that you want others, but NOT yourself, even though you are the only one who wants this to happen.

"as for non-governmental...into one of those systems" There are charities out there, and people donate to ones THEY BELIEVE IN and to the ones THEY CHOOSE. I and kushblunt and I'm sure a huge percentage of people out there do give when they want to. You can give to these organizations. Why don't you? Because you want others to do it for you. It's ridiculous, go give you don't need me along side you. I don't like trusting the government with that much money. They abuse it. I can give without being forced.

dude i dont deny i was born privileged. i am thankful for everything i have. ya it is tough if you are poor to rise up and make something but it can be done then again sometimes it cant be done. there are a lot of other things this country could do other than tax the wealthy more to help pay for health care, there are plenty of pointless things the government does that wastes our money.

when it comes down to it, i honestly wouldnt really be that upset if obama gets elected he is not my choice i just dont agree with somethings he has to say. i just want to chill and smoke my weed.

stacked in his favor because his grandfather CHOOSE to give HIS money to his grandson and not joe-schmo halfway across the country?

wow someone understands.

my great great grandfather came over here from ireland with absolutely nothing. came to america and become one of the most wealthy people of his day. broke as fuck had nothing and he made something. it was easier to do back then obviously but he made his fortune to give to his family and to give to his country. he did both.

do you think my family doesnt donate? we do. and didnt mean i personally when i said we shouldnt pay because we cant. my family definitely falls into the category of people who can, and would pay more into the tax system.

as for why should you pay in when you disagree, of course you disagree, your looking at it from the point of view of having health care and being happy and healthy. meanwhile a large percentage DONT.

as for people who shouldnt pay into the system, they shouldnt because they cant afford it. somple as that.

as for giving it without being forced... if everyone rich was so willing to do this, why dont we see everyone insured? because a large portion of rich people DONT donate.

drew i wasnt saying that it wasnt a good thing, sorry my sarcasm came off wrong. im saying that he should still be paying into the system, regardless of his donations

no but it is AMAZING how lives of family's can change in such a short time.....

my grandparents are "wealthy" but not rich, but he is on the board of directors for a telephone company has run a few in his lifetime, ect...

now i live a GREAT LIFE, dont get me wrong, but it is unbelievable how "shitty" of a life some of my grandpa's brothers live and their children.. now did they have any different of an up bringing? no actually my grandpa being the oldest had a MUCH rougher time than his younger brothers....

so now, i live in an "average/small house" i have a roof over my head, i am not hungry, spend a month every year vacationing, SKI... i live a super life...

O BTW, both of my parents didnt get a dime from their parents.... they just had a good examples to follow... my dad worked his way through college, flight school, and now he is 2 years away from OWNING his own home, drives an avalanche(payed cash) mom drives a 2006 town and country (payed cash, the dealer almost shit his pants when my dad said there wasnt a lean against the check;)

the point is, ONE PERSON making a conscious decision to CHANGE, can have effects that are far greater than ANYONE could have ever imagined... it only takes one person to BREAK a destructive pattern.

or my grandpa could have chosen to live off the money the government would have happily given him with our family's native american roots...

Thats fine but thats your belief.
But disagree, I don't want to have to pay for something I disagree with, I can do it on my own watch. And I think it's fucked up that the government is making the decision for me.

Upon watching the Colbert Report last night, they interviewed a statician and gave the web address to his site. I think its a fantastic site.

fivethirtyeight.com

check it out. Its seriously non partisan and its neat to see all of the stats for individual states and what not.

again these stories are great (not sarcasm) but sadly a HUGE portion of this country doesnt manage that. and i dont know the story but it sounds like your grandfather and parents werent born ultra poor, more middle class. that and the education that comes with it alone give you a huge advantage

haha no.

if you call harvesting just enough food to feed his family each year "middle class" or maybe not sleeping in a bed by yourself until you are 19 and move out, or maybe the nightly trips to the outhouse...

my grandpa honest to god harvested field corn by hand, he was dirt poor, and got his education from a school in the middle of nowhere Iowa...

O he is not "old" either, hasn't even gotten his first social security check yet...

the idea is that it only takes ONE PERSON, to change generations of poverty...

hahaha ok. thats def poor, shoulda said that the first time. but for every success story there are more failures.

im not sure how you would really measure it but id be willing to bet the number of failures outweighs the number of success stories

welp in the audi i dont wear my seatbelt and welp in the evo i dont have a seatbelt i have harnesses and i wear them home boy.

I'm voting the lesser of two evils. I want the government to spend less all around.

The more the government sticks its hands in, the more things a consensus must be made on, the majority decides, and everyone else most conform too. Get 'em out.

you know what though... after watching that shit show of a debate. i am almost ready to hand the reigns over to Obama, HE WILL fuck up this country... and when does, there will be ONE person, and ONE party to hang the blame around....

(ad hominem alert drew;)

I too would like the definition of a "failure", I'd be willing to bet that a lot of the people you're referring to, would be insulted to be placed in that category, and probably see their own story as a success.

eh, depends what is a failure and what is a success...

you could say that my dad is a failure because he doesnt make as much money as my grandpa did, but my dad loves his job, so he is a success. IMO.

fuck ns hates me. i replied but it didnt reply....

anyways im not sure how to quantify it precisely, but basically people unable to afford things like healthcare etc.

isn't the line of (monetary) success something with more of a middle ground than anything?

You have the very successful fortune 500, and then you have the south side of Chicago poor, but then you've got plenty of middle ground where they are surviving, they have enough to put food on the table, provide for this and that expense, but are unable to afford a whole lot of luxuries.

That debate seemed really half and half. I'd probably give it to obama, but it seemed really close. But that might just be my opinion. McCain is really hard to listen to for that long.

i've got to call you out, you're doing this everywhere

personal anecdotes about exceptions to the case do not negate the statistical evidence you disagree with.

That's probably because you like obama. We all can tolerate listening to someone we agree with and like more than the their opponent. I just found your post kind of funny because I feel the same way about Obama, he just goes off on these tangents...

You totally have missed the point there.

People dont chose to have a low paying job, they end up with it, because it is the best they can do for the time being. Many people don't plan to have 4 kids, but it happens and I hate that as much as you do. You should be more upset about welfare in this situation than health care. Yes those 4 kids deserve health care, but no, that mother does not deserve to do nothing. I hate welfare and think anyone on welfare should be picking plastic bottles out of landfills, or baby sitting their 4 kids and 5 more for 2 other mothers with kids they cant afford. But they should still be able to take their kids to the doctor if they have pink eye.

Anyway, another reason healthcare should be accessible, cause college graduates like me who are actively seeking employment at a time where there is hardly any, are not insured. I have a degree. I do community service. I donate my tax returns to non profits. I have 8 and a half years work experience. But, at this present time, I can not find a job. I look every day, I have 6 different resumes, 12 cover letters, a website, a list of referrals, and I can't find a job. If for some reason I get an infection of any kind, I'm screwed. It could cost me hundreds/thousands.

There are so many people out there that are doing everything they possibly can to make it, and these people are serving you food, folding clothes, washing your car, ringing up your groceries, manufacturing your car, checking you into your hotel room. Yet you think they don't deserve the same rights that you have? Everything they do is for your luxury.

So for welfare, I dont think we should give free income to people who arent working/volunteering, but I do think we should give healthcare. Then people like me wouldn't have to be terrified of getting hurt/sick.

o i know my gradparents beat the odds.. but thats the point, if he could achieve that, then almost (i said almost) anyone can achieve a level of success as well......

the cards WERE stacked against him. now because of HIS hard work, and my parents hard work, i am in a much better position than i would have been had he chosen to make far worse choices....

only in america can a black man who was raised by his grandparents, be the front runner for arguably the most powerful job in the world........

Aren't we arguing that the success story your grandfather has isn't happening nearly enough? All the interventions are readjusting the odds so the cards wont' be so stacked in one person's favor or to another's disadvantage.

Thank you.

To snobunny,

And yeah, I'm pretty aware of craigslist, I use indeed.com too, as well as monstertrak, monster, careerbuilder, malakye and a few others too. I even go into stores and businesses and ask.

Today I talked to the store manager at Oakley. He said they get about 40 applications a week. My friend at Vans said they get about the same. I did have a decent impromptu interview at NorthFace today, but they aren't really sure how many hours they can give just yet cause they are still adjusting to the fall shift and preparing for winter.

So it isn't just me looking for a job. So be less of an ass. Ok? Thanks.

I wasn't being a bitch.

I guess I was indirectly asking why she couldn't find one on that list. They're all entry level positions currently looking for workers in minnesota.

name calling isn't necessary.

She says she can't get a job. I don't believe she can't get a job. Maybe she can't get the type that she wants, or one that pays what she wants, or one that's in the area that she wants. But, I don't believe that she can't get a job. It's not bitchy to point that out.

Yet somehow, I managed to get called a bitch, a cunt, and an ass, just for pointing on the fact that there are plenty of people looking for employees in MN.
