That helps... the way the first post in this thread was done was kind of sketch but it's not obtrusive and the thread went off topic right away anyway. Here's the deal: I can filibuster any thread by copying and pasting any of a thousand articles on any political issue I happen to feel like using. People end up having to scroll past a who bunch of crap that they have no intention of reading. That is quintessentially spam. Moreover, I could fill the whole first page of NSG with threads from a particular political perspective by copying and pasting articles on each. That, too, would be obvious spam. So typically we delete stuff like that. Here are some things that are less annoying and more likely to be tolerated:
1. Just post a link, or a link and the headline. People will click it if they give a fuck.
2. Say you found an article that you think is awesome. Link to it, and then write a paragraph or two about what you agreed with or didn't.
3. If you really want to use someone else's words, copy and paste a little bit of the article, say, 2 paragraphs. Something that won't even come close to filling up the display of a web browser. Then put a link to the whole article at the bottom.
4. Read the articles, form opinions either for or against what the author expresses, and then express those opinions in your own words. This is called "thinking", and while I don't actually expect many people to bother with this option, it would be the best one.
