The reason i like Barack Obama

I cannot wait for next week when it ends one way or the other and people stop with this crap. This has been the worst time to be staff on this website since ever. Anxiety over waiting for the hills to open, a presidential election, and record high site traffic. It's a festival of jackasses. We all really need to start skiing.

when obama was at my school yesterday, i was in my dorm and he was directly outside, and i could hear all of his words, he said dirsct quote "All Americans will receive pay", that sounded soo wrong to me, then all i heard for the next hour was "OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE" it was literally like a cult gathering, i seriously wanted to shout out the window, "Obama is spewing bullshit, ur al retared shut the fuck up so i can go back to sleep, it was sad that everyone believeed him....i hope he doesnt win....

And at mccain/palin rallies they scream terrorist, socialist, and other racial remarks. there are stupid people on this planet

the person that was hosting the rally was yelling it through the mic, and then the crowd followed along. I HIGHLY doubt, the host (person who presents for the candidate) will chant "Terrorist Terrorist, Socialist"

not to mention. how dare they chant the NAME OF THE CANDIDATE THEY SUPPORT! the outrage! the absurdity! its a fucking rally...

haha, i make a point, and then u cant think of something to say so u say they r just yelling his name, if u were there u would understand what im talking about. It was like a cult, it actually scared me, much like the ppl in the videos who yell "terrorist terrorist" and the guy with the obama hat on the monkey.

This was my favorite moment from the McCain rally today. Thought I'd share

hahaha it shouldnt really affect the vote, but he is the WORST at recovering when he stumbles

There were 6 threads on the first page of NSG pertaining to the election. All of them involved copying and pasting an article from somewhere else, which is spam to begin with. It needed to be cleaned up and reduced to one thread. Five were pro-Obama, one was pro-McCain. Are you suggesting I should have deleted all five pro-Obama threads and left the one pro-McCain thread, which, by the way, was the longest cut&paste hack job of the lot? That seems fair. This thread was the longest, and no longer has anything to do with its original topic, so it isn't pro-anything except for the title. Hence it was the one left up.

In short, you're a jackass.

No, they pretty much have. Even on this page, actually. There is LESS spam in this than the other ones, though.

i meant less. its impossible to have no idiocy in a politics thread. theres too many morons on this site

No one's really been talking about the Obama infomercial on here... but apparently about 30 million people watched it, plus a few million more on youtube... if you haven't seen it it's here.

Food for posting, I suppose.

did you even watch the debates, play them back and try to tell me he didnt say the same thing in all of them. Play back his speeches and tell me how many times he says he wants change and then ends it. The guy is the complete opposite of what you just said. I hate to sound negative but so many people just see hes black and that hes a good speaker and get sucked in, really listen next time he speaks

That helps... the way the first post in this thread was done was kind of sketch but it's not obtrusive and the thread went off topic right away anyway. Here's the deal: I can filibuster any thread by copying and pasting any of a thousand articles on any political issue I happen to feel like using. People end up having to scroll past a who bunch of crap that they have no intention of reading. That is quintessentially spam. Moreover, I could fill the whole first page of NSG with threads from a particular political perspective by copying and pasting articles on each. That, too, would be obvious spam. So typically we delete stuff like that. Here are some things that are less annoying and more likely to be tolerated:

1. Just post a link, or a link and the headline. People will click it if they give a fuck.

2. Say you found an article that you think is awesome. Link to it, and then write a paragraph or two about what you agreed with or didn't.

3. If you really want to use someone else's words, copy and paste a little bit of the article, say, 2 paragraphs. Something that won't even come close to filling up the display of a web browser. Then put a link to the whole article at the bottom.

4. Read the articles, form opinions either for or against what the author expresses, and then express those opinions in your own words. This is called "thinking", and while I don't actually expect many people to bother with this option, it would be the best one.
