22 pages...I'm so proud of my jibbers! way to stay black....oh that chest deepness I felt on sunday was GLORIOUS! okay, might have only been chest deep for me because I am kinda small..so i guess that would mean it was chin deep for my mom...once again GLORIOUS!
 
snowed all day today, but has not snowed much tonight....they are calling for snow here for like the next 5 days at least, its ridiculous. 40 inch base, almost 90 total inches so far....closet and shadows go untracked a majority of the day

there is so much damn snow on rabbit ears. i went snowmobiling up there and it is like 8 foot base. holy shit, so much snow and i have to go to school. fuck this shit i am moving back in two weeks!!!
 
yea it was awesome, high of 0 today and I got to STAND around in it for 8 hours.....fun shit really. awesome going to work when its 18 below

i skiied pipe in breck! it was silly. pc won't have a pipe for a while cause there' s a world cup taking up all the snow making. POO!

ok well maybe give or take a day or two. I was told by the higher ups, pipe tomorrow, so thers a chance that it will open late tomorrow, but from what i saw at the end of the day today definitely this week fo sure. settin up all the shit in bashor this week, and canning the eagles next railpark this weekend so.....yea.......frostbite on my big toe sucks.....stupid fence posts.
 
Would anyone believe me if I said that my family is friends with the family that started the Steamboat Ski area
 
there have been many families who have "started" or worked with the ski area. one of my good friends' grandpa used to own the mountain. now he gets free pass for life and his grandpa is loaded. i would not doubt that your family is friends with someone who has been involved on a very high level with steamboat. just depends on who you are saying "started" it.

how is it that i still get phone calls when steamboat fucks up with the empty promises. i don't live there anymore! no one on this thread has called me, no griping to you but i'm over it. i'm not doing my volunteer position anymore! it's off of me now
 
im going up the thursday after christmas for about a week. its gonna be so sweet, me and my buddy are gonna go build a jump around the eastfaceish area unless its already there, last year there was a sweet one, mabye 35ft, and you could just hit it faster and it would be more like 45 ft. and im getting a new sony vx 1000, and were probably gonna do a bunch of filming.
 
honestly i am sick and tired of this shit. we are the LAST fucking people on the mountain to be bitched at. doug al fuckin rolls by park and sounds all dissapointed, well FUCK, how about you give us a bigger budget, a new pipe cutter that doesnt fuckin break down all the time nad cuts a shit tranny, and enough snow and time to really get good shit up on the first d ay. we Icrew and cat drivs) have been busting out asses to get the best possible shit open all this past week. I have had no fuckin life cause i have been puttin in so manyhours......and all I get in return is complaints and stupid fucks wanting to hit shit and nearly collide with me when im trying to fuckin tune it up and fix the shit. steamboat as a whole corp/company/management doesnt gtive TWO shits about park......and even when we try to make the best out of it we get nothing but shit and its really pissing me off.
 
thank you, but you see, no matter what you say to the higher ups, nothing will change. they say they know, but they don't do anything. after last year i decided i needed to get out, and i did. and it seemed like things were getting better but then things go back, crying shame
 
yea sorry bout that, was my lil drunken rant.......im just so sick of people bitching at us like its our fault that shit isnt better, when it isnt us AT all that have a say in money, when shit opens, etc....... oh well
 
YES!!!! THANK YOU!!! i have been saying this for years. you can probably even find me saying it on the first pages of this thread. Steamboat management as far as a terrain park goes is the shittiest shit ever. they do not give a fuck about making a quality park. just as long as they have one it is cool to them. they way they look at it the gaypers from texas can't hit a big nice 60ft table so why should why build one?? fuck it we will build 20 gay-ass little jumps that the gaypers will love. if you want a real park go to summit.
 
ok, so i just read the entire like 22 page thread looking for me saying how shitty steamboat park is, but didn't find any adequate quotes. however, i did find about three years of memories that i had just about totally forgotten. that dude mercer ripped steamboat apart harder than anyone, and then we got in a big internet fight. funny shit. o and gina, i am not as much of a wiggly worm as i once was.
 
some guy on the lift at copper the other day was telling me that steamboat's park was totally out of control and made summit counties' look like shit... was this guy a poser or is this legit? i need to know before i make the quest up north.
 
I work for the mountain too, so I havent had a day off since friday (lotta people in town, asc is working people like dogs)....wont be hitting the park til wednesday, but pretty much all of the kids that I know think that whats in the park now is definitely a step up from last year. Hell, at least its open like a week and a half before it was last year.

And in regards to ASC....having worked for them the last three years, I can say that it is definitely unfortunate that they are unwilling to spend money on necessary upgrades for our outdated base/ski area. As I see it, ASC has been cash strapped the past couple years (posting losses for that matter) and they're trying to recoup that money by milking as much profit from here and The Canyons as possible. While they are making some upgrades, it is to critical operations only, and nothing cosmetic.

The terrain park in whatever capacity is a side effect of this. While they realize that locals and gapers alike want to have a terrain park, they are not going to spend the cash to seriously upgrade and improve what we have. While having a park is an asset, I dont know if it caters to a big enough portion of the population for ASC to really consider putting more effort into it (more staff, more features, new location, etc.)

it FINALLY STOPPED FUCKING SNOWING.....

ok so maybe im a park rat at heart.....but I've ski'd boat for over 400 days.....im a little bit bored with the terrain and all its "champagne powder" only decent stuff now requires hiking, and im too lazy for that atm, and theres still not enough snow. so I want some nice SUNNY days to just gnar the shred of park.
 
Hey guys...I hate having to read the rants because this is my home and with being sponsored by steamboat, it kills me to know we can't get the mountain to support our park. (This is where Gina gets touchy-feely-emotional) I have lived here 12+ years, and before that, have traveled here since I was two...so this is home...it just bums me out that I love this place so much, yet we can't do something for the youth in town--terrain park and skatepark.

As far as you park staff, groomers, pipe cutters etc peopl go--you guys do a great job for the lack of funding and support you get. When the Japanese people used to own this place, our park under Sunshine was sick--transfers, huge tables, step ups and gaps. But now, we have to just work with what we've got. So try not to get down on yourselves...it has gotten better the past few years and we couldn't have done it without you guys--so hang in there!

Maybe I should make T-shirts that say "SAVE THE PARK!" If anyone is interested...I'll do it! I'm a goer!

BTW--Colin-I finished second at the Nor-Am and missed the supposed X-Games spot (could be an urban jibbing myth) by .6 of a point. Jess Cumming was first. But I am stoked anyways cuz it was GLORIOUS! I love ALL YOU STEAMBOAT RATS!

And yes, I agree, I like it when the snow stops and I can ride park too. :)
 
haha yes, a save the park campaign would be awesome....

we're testin out the big hits tomorrow, and HOPEFULLY pipe open soon, so we'll almost be at 100%.
 
YEAH GINA 2nd AT NOR AMS!!! do you remember when you beat jess (at least i think it was her) at the mavericks superpipe like two years ago. the only reason i bring this up is because i read the whole thread yesterday and i remember a post from you about it. you kicked her ass once before and you can do it again!!! go gina!!! you could be our hope for bringing change to steamboat.
