Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. is investing in more firepower this fall to help ensure snowboarders and free skiers get to play in the terrain park a little earlier this season. It's part of an announced $1.5 million capital budget.

More efficient snowmaking heads on sleds and an extra snowcat devoted to the SoBe terrain park should help Steamboat improve on last year's mid-December opening of its terrain park. That would be welcome news among snow riders devoted to rail riding and launching from the Mavericks Superpipe.

The remaining 27 will be 15-foot tall tower guns mounted on sleds. Their portability will allow snowmaking crews to concentrate more firepower on the terrain park during the crucial time of year, Allen said.

Allen said the acquisition of the new cats would allow him to divert a second cat, in addition to the pipe dragon, to the terrain park.

Yea, I hear ya. All kinds of crap floating around last year about plans to do this and to do that. and they all eventually got shut down, and went absolutely nowhere. :(

well if all the parts came in, we should have an almost new sound system this year with fully functional speakers and XM radio :) Instead of KIDN daily blasting through 1.5 speakers.

haha. Ok well the XM IS THERE, I know this for a fact. I was even running mine there off the antenna that's setup. Now we just need speakers and we're golden.

Well i lied my face off when i said i'd be ok, it's never fine when you go away. these scars are deep, these scars are permanent, and always on display, this makes things diffucult for me.

my mom got a job as a mountain ambassador. if you know my mom that is pretty sweet, just picture her handing out hot chocolate at the bottom of the mountatin. that also means i still have a season pass to steamboat!!!! i miss steamboat :(

went into knitch today. bought some alpaca. sweet. oh yeah....i went to leave around 330pm on Tuesday and almost died on Rabbit Ears. It was absolutely dumping (like, good enough to make a jump bra) and my tires were really bald. I barely made it up to the summit and was fish tailing all over the place. cars were donuting all over the place. scary times. i almost died.
 
I don't think I've ever had a year without some seriously sketchy moments on rabbit ears. The ones at night are so much fun :O
