Sparknotes on Moment Skis 2011/2012

minimal camber underfoot with early rise tip and tail. the profile is similar to the night train as far as the early rise, but with maybe 1 cm reg camber underfoot.

The graphics this year are so on point. If they were easy to get a deal on in the UK, I'd get PB&Js to replace my Lizzies.

They really need a 192ish Night Train...a ski like that would absolutely murder all. FWIW I'm 6'1 190, skied the 186 and liked how it skied but it def. felt short. Plus they could more effectively compete against a ski like the Chetler, which will be available next year in a 192 in much larger quantities.

yea that is also what i thought but they tear up the park and worked well compeating in the big air. definatly the best park ski ive ever had. but now i have the PB and J. they are wider like 101 under foot and they are definatly more my style. super stable and sick all over the mountain but still buttery and fun in the park so if the vice is too skinny then get the PB and J you wont regret it.

Holy crap the ghost chants! They are a reincarnation of the melee's, with more rocker and bamboo...If they ski anything/better than my melee's then this is the ski you want to sell your first child for. Trust me, it's going to be amazing.

What moment ski fills the gap in my quiver of 3

I have a 100mm wasted park / all mtn ski

Moment night trains in a 189

Im thinking something for old new snow, every day groomers, crud and some trees. (some occ. deeper pow)

What am i looking for?

Belafonte

Ruby

Jaguar Shark

garbones fc.

FYI im 6,2 and 180

192 Belafonte for sure if you plan on taking out the NT when it's 8" or more of fresh snow.

Ruby is defunct. Jag Shark might be too wide for everday slaying (116mm in the waist). Garbones too stiff for trees.

hoping ngp could advise me a bit. my ski next year is gonna be a 186 night train or ghost chant. im just really torn between the two. i really like the fact that the ghost chants are symmetrical. im looking for a really fun playful ski. lot of dropping cliffs, jumping off pretty much everything and cruising through pow and trees and a whole lot of other stuff. and the night trains are also pretty appealing as well. im just wondering how jibby and playful of a ski they are? and im a very strong skier.

I would send a message to K.C.Deane ... the Ghost Chant is basically his ski creation (even if it's a rebadged Melee ;) ).

How to best answer your question depends how big of cliffs we're talking. Personally, I prefer less rocker on the tail so you minimize the wheelie effect when trying to stomp large airs. Ghost Chants have a lot of rocker, but they no doubt would super jibby and playful in deep pow.

butterie but still solid i skied them for the first time today they are definatly the best ski i have ever owned and im not just saying that because i ride for moment. they are pretty fat like 101 under foot but honestly they seemed more nimble than my vices in the park. they are fat, really solid, really light and the perfect flex for charging every day. sickest ski ever.

okay that sounds great. so i have lizzies right now, what would the flex be compared to them? i assume much stiffer. im just not to sure what buttery but solid means

yea it is kinda hard to define but they are definatly stiffer than lizzies but they have camber underfoot and rocker in the tip and tail. so the stability comes from the width and the camber under foot but the rocker makes them really playfull and buttery. and ill say it again best all around ski ever.

they will be out next fall and if they dont have them at your local shop, backcountry and evo both carry moment skis.

i demoed the ghost chants at winterpark last week and they seem like they would definitely be a sick ski in pow

however with the flat underfoot design and little sidecut they are NOT fun to ski on hardpact snow

the vice sidecut and rocker are similar as the bibby pro

however with a different flex and an obvious difference in dimensions

i personally will be purchasing the bibbys (for all mountain) and the vice (for park) next year

i would buy the ghost chant because they are definitely a sick ski but seeing as i live on the east coast and by reading my above post you can see why they would not be to prime for me

yea to be honest if you want a somewhat fat ski with rocker from moment and you want to take it everywhere the bibby is the ski

skis like whatever you want it to ski like

skis like a pow ski in pow

skis like a fucking race ski on hardpact

fucking plows through crud

and even will ski like a park ski if thats your thing

the mustache camber is the bomb

i dont really dig the flat underfoot thing, i have this years k2 revivals and i fucking hate them the flat underfoot shit makes them feel so dead

however i have never skied real deep face shot or even like knee deep pow so i do believe that the flat underfoot with tons of rocker would rip through that but i dont understand the practicality of having a ski that only skis good in deep pow

i would much rather have a ski (like the bibby) that just rips literally everywhere you take the things

also

they had a pair of the jag sharks with this graphic at the winterpark demo that my dad used for a couple runs

i dont know how he felt about the graphic

i wonder if moment can switch graphics between skis.

the pb&j looks promising, but the graphic is so dull

moments suck... well there park skis atleast.

My friend has about 20 edge cracks within 2 weeks of riding his and they wont warranty it

i think they can. i dn't know if they do it anymore though but before they blew up i'm pretty sure they used to be able to switch graphics.

and big_l, idk what you're talking about. i've heard nothing but good stuff about moment's construction.

i find this incredibly hard to believe. i rode an entire season of urban on the rockers and had 3 edge cracks. you should come with some backup data before you start throwing shit like that out.

I didn't really think about this when I saw them in person but how are the PB&J's different from the Rockers? Did they just change the name? Change the rocker/dimmentions?

I don't have NTs or PB&Js handy to get a rocker profile.

As for the titty graphic Jag Shark, it's likely a LTD release ... more sepia color than the purple you see in that picture.

I'll try to throw something up in the gear review section. Basically, solid all-mountain directional charger, lots of pop, super smooth on groomers and through crud, has a 6-8" new snow limit. Behind the Bibby Pro and PB&J, it's my 3rd favorite ski from Moment and I've tried nearly all of them.

I found the 182cm Belafonte quite responsive in tight spots. Not as manageable as a Bibby Pro but way more so than the Garbone or flat-tail 190 Ruby. Thanks to a slightly softer flex, the Jag Shark (basically a 116mm-waist Belafonte) is even better in the trees.

Not being able to go to the ISPO right now sucks..

Really want to see the PB&J rocker/camber profile..
