Sparknotes on Moment Skis 2011/2012

What are we looking at in comparison for stiffness between the 192 Jaguar Shark, and the 190/196 Bibby?

Which is the stiffer, more big mountain charging ski?

the 196 bibby for sure. big mountain charging is exacly what it was made for. the jaguar shark will charge but it is designed as a bit more of an all mountain ski.

At your height/weight, get the 190 without question.

If you can handle a mid-180 flat tail ski, the 190 Bibby will feel right at home. The actual length of the ski (not material length) is 188cm, and the running length is around 125cm which is on par with other similarly-shaped skis. The stiffer flex might make them feel like they ski longer as well.

Here's my take with stiffest at the top, softest at the bottom:

Garbones

196 Bibby

190 Bibby

Belafonte

Jag Shark

Tahoe

PB&J

And to answer, the 190/196 Bibby is by far the stiffer, more big mountain charging ski. 190 Bibby is fully rockered whereas the 196 has a more flattish tail and lots of taper. Still a surprisingly quick ski in tight spots, but this was made for straightlining 2k shots.

The 190 runs at 188 you say? with full rocker? As in no camber underneath?

Any early rise on the 196? Running length? Camber?

It's starting to look like the 196 would be an amazing charging ski, which is what I'm looking for.

I mean, I'm thinking of getting another pair of One Lifes next year, I just found that they could use more length.

That's where the 196 Bibby comes in.

Tip to tail measurement is 188cm on the 190. There's camber underneath as that's been the case since 09/10, but that doesn't change how long a ski is.

Yes, there's rocker on the 196, but I don't have a photo and couldn't tell you have much. Watch the Day 2 video from the Red Bull Rush at Silverton and you'll see the Bibby 196 in action.

Excellente!

Now to switch gears for to a park ski.

Looking for a park ski to replace my old AR6's that I just destroyed last night at COP.

Not that into jumps, more jibbin features and would like to get better at rails.

Looking for something 180+ (6'2", 170lbs). I prefer stiffer skis, looking at either the team at 181, or the 184 Vice.

Really interested in the Vice.

Anyone now the stiffness of it? Or any other valuable information?

the 182 or the 188 PB&J would be good. i'd go 188 since they're rockered they'll ski shorter

How do the Jibs compare to the 2010/11 version? Are they more buttery in the tips/tails? or the same?

Does someone have pictures of just the pb&j top sheet and bases? Im 5'0 and 100 to 110 pounds and ski 80 precedent park 20% all mountain / powder so do you think the pb&j would be too much of a skii in size 162 or would the Reno jib 156 be better?

im worried it would be too fat, im skiing a size 150 90 waist ski right now, but when i ski my 155 rockerd 108 waist ski i love it. you really think it would fit what i ski? it sounds mega fun.

5'7"

if you're that worried about it dont get them. but if you're confident in your skiing ability i'm sure that you will have no trouble with them

i am 5'8" 140 riding on 178 vices and they are really fun jib sticks super stable on rails super light and they handle jumps great and still let you butter like whoa. but i would suggest the longest size. also my only gripe is the tails are to small that in the slush they got jostled around. so i say go for it!

they are honestly one of the easiest and funnest skis ever. and out of anything in the moment line this is by far my favorite ski they have ever made. so go for it dude you wont regret it.

Sorry to hop on the bandwagon here.

But if I play my cards right before the season starts I was hoping to get two new pairs of skis.

One for playing all over the mountain that I might take up on the days that resorts says they're having powder, but really only have like 2"s. And another for the deep pow days and backcountry.

I was thinking for the BC and pow the Ghost Chants. But I'm in between the Night Trains or a pair of Bibby's I might buy used.

I rarely hit the park so if either is not super grippy on groomers it's not really a big deal. To give you an idea of where I ski (if it helps to do to determine) I ski Targhee, Jackson Hole, and occasionally Snowbird as far as resorts go.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

stick with the reagans the nts are lil too stiff my sis rides 186 nt and shes 5'10" and finds them stiff yet fun but for your size reagans most def

thanks. i want to stick with the reagans but the only place i know carries them has them in a 158 which is probably too short.

those sound perfect for you as long as you know what you're doing on skis. that being said i'd go for the reagans because at your size you'll definately appreciate the softer flex

Just to chime in, the flex on the Reagan is the exact same as the Night Train. In fact, the cores of all Moment's female skis are the same as the male version.

And here's a season edit skiing almost exclusively on the Jaguar Shark. I don't do park, so you won't see any footage of that. Lots of pow, trees, and steep skiing.

ya I'm going into the shop to see if they can order some for me. thats what i did for my one lives last year

To see Ghost Chants in action, watch this year's Toy Soldier Production's "Set Your Sights" with Moment skiers Shay Lee and Sandy Boville.
