After reading through the absolutely staggering ammounts of ignorance being posted in this thread I couldn't hold back posting some kind of defense for the game of soccer. I do not hate football. I actually am a huge football fan as well and fully respect the skill and athleticism it takes to play at a competitive level. With that said, I play soccer at a compitetive level year round and do not understand where you (ButtonGwinnet) can come up with the idea that soccer does not require more skill than football. In order to play football effectively, lets say as a receiver, you have to be able to beat the cornerback on the run, catch the ball, and hopefully evade a few more defensive backs. In order to play soccer effectively, let's say as a striker, you have to be able to settle a round ball that is played to you often at high speeds and not directly to you, either pass that ball to another team mate who is often at a full sprint or turn with that ball and try to beat a defender or two or even three, and try to score all using your FEET. We, as a species were designed to use our hands to perform tasks, and our feet were meant to carry us and provide a base for us to move. In soccer, you have to master the ability to use your feet as almost a second set of hands, with which you do things that most people cannot do with their hands. That is all I have to say, I really don't want an arguement out of this I just had to speak my mind.
