Snow Watch 07/08

I was going to post some skeptical ass remark a couple of hours ago, but that new forecast, even with skepticism, is looking nice.

stevens is holding it down right now

I'm surprised stevens got the dusting it did, the snow level seemed it would be too high. The main events are yet to come. But 3' worth? eeeee

It was snowing pretty hard up at Alpental this afternoon, but it wasn't sticking around much at all. The hills above the Alpental condos had a light dusting, the clouds were covering most of the hill, so it was hard to see what the coverage looked like for sure.

Be patient, the best is yet to come...

Low pressure flying across the northern Pacific Ocean reaches the Northwest coast Monday with gusty winds, rain and mountain snow.

Wind gusts may approach 50 mph at the coast and 25 to 35 mph inland as the storm passes by.

Rainfall amounts of 1 to locally 3 inches along the western slopes of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains are expected.

Snow levels should rise to around 4,500 feet Monday afternoon before falling below 3,000 Monday night.

2007-08 Pre-Season Snow Report

REPORT UPDATED SUNDAY NOV 11:

A small system moved in last night bringing 4 inches of snow. It is currently 29 degrees, snowing lightly and more storms are brewing.

There is a significant storm sitting off the coast of Washington right nowwhich is expected to move ashore on Monday pointed right at Mt. Baker.

With gale wind warnings currently issued for the Coast of Washington in anticipation of this next system moving in, it certainly seems to be packing a punch and it is very possible that the North Cascades (ie Mt. Baker only) could end up with 30 INCHES OF SNOW BY TUESDAY NIGHT.

After Monday’s weather event, we will assess the next series of forecasts before we make a determination about opening day so be looking for update late Monday or Tuesday morning.

Our crews are on 24 hour standby and we are ready for when that snowbase starts to build!

La Nina is brewing. . . .

These keep getting better and better. GO SEAHAWKS

Those cameras at Snoqualmie and Stevens are looking promising. Hopefully the total accumulation reaches the 10 inches that has been forecasted.

wow i didnt do anything today,... i probally looked at the same mountain webcams for snoqualmie, crystal, stevens, whistler like40 times...

REPORT UPDATED TUESDAY NOV 13:

Well, we clocked 94 mph winds as that storm blew through yesterday. We received a decent hit of snow with 15 inches now on the ground. However, the heavy precip moved just north of us so we missed out on the full 30 inches that was originally forecasted.

The next series of fronts are coming in a little warm on Wednesday night and Thursday with the freezing level expected to be around 7,000 feet. It cools off after Thursday and the FL drops back down to about 4,000 feet (elevation of Heather Meadows base area) on Thursday night to Friday morning with the possibility of 5 – 7 inches of snowfall.

Then Saturday and Sunday is where our real hope is with the FL dropping to 3,000 feet with 5-7 inches expected Saturday night and another 5-7 inches on Sunday.

So if we don’t loose too much snow with the warming trend mid this week, we may be in good shape early next week.

We’ll keep you posted
