SKI SUNDOWN 2012-2013

Haha sundown closing early because of snow? So lame. Was gonna get mad faceshots all night but I guess not anymore! Word guys! No freshies for anyone!

Cant even ski on Saturdays! !!!!

Roads are gonna be bad, just trying to get the employees home safe. That and now it won't be a weird mix of fresh snow on top of ripped up snow.

Not my call...I woulda been open till 10...oh well.

Yeah my dad was working tonight and I was gonna go! He's got a jeep so it woulda been fine! So ur just gonna groom feet of powder? UGHHH that kills me , never skied pow before on skis!

not gonna groom at all. Bulk of the snow is coming between 5pm and 8am, so by closing all that snow will be untouched, if we stayed open till 10 there's be weird chop and tracks under like a foot, first run would be fine but after that it would be weird.

I don't think I hit the jumps once today. Too much fun Joey jumping everything and skiing my line on gunny.

so is there a new park build coming soon? i like most of stinger now, except for the railjam setup, and i just wish there were more rails on toms

Don't we all...

Toms was honestly the sickest at the end of last year, just put small fun features everywhere, and then a couple longer rails... Then it would honestly be the funnest thing to lap, ever. At east the jumps are fun, just there is so much empty room before that.

The plan right now:

- Quick fix tomorrow morning (basically unbury everything with a snowcat, rebuild kickers/lips)

- Full(ish) rebuild Wednesday and Thursday

Again, plan is the key word...I hate when plans change, but sometimes for reasons beyond our control they do.

As far as what the actual design of the rebuild will be...not sure yet...gotta figure out what we have to work with (not snow...we have tons of that...we just have to find our rails...)

if there was just more rails on toms, it would be so good. jumps were so much fun this morning(first person to hit them) and if there was just more rails through the whole thing it would be crazy good

Tom's still has to remain the easiest way down, and unfortunatly for park folks, we cant clog the upper section any more than we do currently.

we may be able to add a rail before the trees, but we'd have to find a rail first. We'll probably rearrange the upper section later this week. glad you enjoyed the 3 jump line

While the snow is still soft (ish) you should take that round rail after the hitching post out... I just find it so awkward hoping onto it because it's set-up sideways it seems. Also because I'm more comfortable hitting rails from the side (like hitting urban) and I hit it from the left side of the rail and there is nowhere to ollie from on the left side... Just really weird thing to hit so I usually skip it and do something weird off the tranny or pop off the lip and land to the tranny area.

Probably wont happen till after vacation week, but we can probably change it at some point, it's been there for a while.

Sounds good, the double barrel and the 16 at the hike park are both mint, same with the jumps... But sooooo many snakes on the jump line like whoa dere

I got pinned between 2 people on the 3rd jump and couldnt really speed check so I went to flat and it hurt like a bitch lol

For those wondering, we're planing on giving the parks a refresh this week. Tom's will probably get mostly rebuilt, Stinger will just get a few changes in the lower rail section. Cesca's been in the shop working on some stuff so hopefully next week we should see at least 2 features that haven't been on the hill this year (one that hasn't been up in years and other that will be brand new...so new, it's not even been started yet, haha). I have a rough idea on what I'd like to see, but if you have any REASONABLE requests, now's the time to make them.

Side note: if you're wondering about all our big rails (big red, big a-frame, big DFD), as well as our FDF rail, c-box and a few others...they've been buried under all the snow in the snow cat road (look to the left of the yellow lift...all of those are under that...) We've gotten a couple out..but it looks like the snow did some work to them so they'll need some shop time before they can get out...bummer.

Tom's update:

Barrel (unchanged)

Lift tower (on the first steep, option to either gap on to hit urban)

Corrugated Spine (in hike park...but no more fence)

Intimidator box (also in hike park...pretty much just for people learning)

Hitching Post (unchanged)

Round Rail to Propane Tank bonk (tank sits flush with rail)

Double Barrel rail (flat)

Quarterpipe tree tap (doesn't quite work yet...)

Mini Pipe

Hip jump/Table option (old "3rd jump" unchanged just cleaned up)

Looks like Stinger will be getting rebuilt on Friday (original plan was Wednesday, but it looks like rain might stop that).

Glad you guys like it, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Hopefully Stinger comes out just as good. The only thing about moving the cannon is that replacing it as first hit would be kinda tough...we'd need something high speed to go into the unbow, cannon fits that so well. If (and that's a big if) the 4-kink comes out, the s-rail would probably go there instead...but I don't know that the 4-kinks time is up yet, haha.

our one thought is to finish the side kink, move the close out, add the dfd box and tune up all existing features...

first jump will shrink to cover the thin spot emerging between the two kickers. the 2nd jump will get tuned back up and hopefully have a his her 15 and 35 option for spring.

all pending rain damage

mini pipe will stay up as long as it will last. we enjoy it and want to to work out. if you see kids beating on the "coping" / lip, please remind them that it was hand built and hand maintained and the park crew will have to kill it if it wears out badly

yay spring is here

Both parks are the best they've been all year!

Once we get to the final week/week and a half are you gonna spread apart the jumps/halfpipe and put some rails in? Or are those staying? Because that's a bunch of snow!

I wish there was still an April freestyle camp, that was a good idea !

It depends on how long it lasts and how the trail is looking. Most likely it'll turn to a rail section though.

FYI (this should be announced on Facebook in a bit), the park crew is having a design a feature contest, basically you come up with a feature (something realistic and that can be built by hand) whoever's feature gets the most likes on FB wins a prize pack and gets to help set up the feature (as well as a possible private photo shoot with us and Luke Furtney) and then the next day a rail jam will be held on that setup. So this is your chance to have your thoughts be put into place (think small and creative, not big and gnarly though).

Already made mine. i think it would be pretty simple to setup.

Everything should just be spaced a little more. didnt have a bigger sheet of paper

Hey I like how the corrugated is set up......but is it possible u could move it into the minipipe as coping or something....I was there yesterday coping is gone...beat to shit.....so like yeah cause the corrugated is nice but once u hit it u lose all ur speed and have to push/skate all the way on the flats. K thanks i like the lift tower but it needs new lip, kids destroyed it too

Maybe, the pipe will probably be reshaped a bit tomorrow. We will probably end up adding a corrugated to one of the walls at some point. The lift tower was a experiment, I like it, but I think the problem is people who don't ski rails just jump the gap and land on the urban lip.

Perhaps some fencing/warnings signs on the lift tower area? But overall set up is great. Nice to hear my concerns are heard. +k

was there today in the saga on deck. The setup was sick. Definitely liked it better than last weekend.

The general concept, yes, but it would have to be all on one flat surface (the picture looks like it's two different levels, which isn't really possible to do by hand, haha).

yup its two different levels but i was thinking you could use the current closeout platform thats up right now, but idk if that would work

Yeah, I don't think that would work well. Also, we were planning on using the spot where the 4-kink and skinny are currently.

How long do you guys plan on keeping the jumps up? I usually don't go this late in the seaspn so I hav'nt seen what youve done in the past.

As long as we possibly can. We might lose one to cover some spots, but we're hoping to have at least one up for the remainder of the season. But it all comes down to how hot it gets and how fast snow melts.

You have to options until gaper day chriz:

1. Heal faster

2. Stop being a pussy bitch, I could heal 20x faster than you, you don't even lift that's probably why you aren't healing fast enough!
