ROAD TRIPPIN WITH BIG_SPENCE INVITATIONAL

this thread is getting way out of hand.

not to sound like an ass, but i don't care about this event. i understand the reason you guys want to make it happen, good for your. genius marketing move on your part.

mike, justin and all the rest of the guys, you're all great skiers and i'm sure a day lapping with you would be great...if you didn't already have the preconceived notion that i was a spoiled little brat. fact of the matter is all i've wanted from the very beginning is a new pair of skis. at this point i'd even be happy with an old pair of demos that i can ski urban on.

i'm done hating on Surface and trying to sway opinions. you guys can buy what you wish. obviously the good experiences with Surface far outweigh the bad and to many this little stunt couldn't be more awesome, but to those who see the whole situations it's little more than salt in the wound.

hope you guys all have a great season and get more days than me,

-Spencer Kuhlman

I agree here is the solution:

Surface should just give spence a good deal on a new pair of skis, still hold a ski with the team event, then come to my local hill for that event ;)

Really I think that giving spencer some sort of "staff" discount type deal would solve this

IDEA

have a comp with spence and the surface riders and if he is able too beat any of them, he wins a new pair of skis(thus proving that he is not a spoiled brat and might deserve a new pair of sticks)

however if he loses he has too move to alaska and live in a cave with a bear for 10 years

make it happen!

the fact that you think its salt in the wound just shows how stuck up you are. you didnt get exactly what you wanted and now you have an opportunity to ski with some rad dudes (and maybe get a little somethin) and you just act like some prima donna whos too cool for a day of ridin. this was an attempt to make amends and by resenting it, it shows how butthurt you are about not getting your way...

:'(

o im sorry let me change it

surface gets a lizard, spence gets a lizard, we put them in a course and race them, if spence wins he gets skis

that better?

i have to agree with spencer on this one. surface could of gave him a new pair of skis, but instead they are willing to spend thousands of dollars and hope the make things better with spencer. its seems like surface is willing to do anything, but lose a pair of skis. thats retarded. if a ski's edge rips out after 6 days of riding then that must be a manufactures default. i'd be pretty pissed if my skis did that and moment wouldnt replace my skis instead they would come to canada and try and patch things up. why not just do 1 person 1 favor and replace a pair of skis? is that so hard?

**disclaimer** no hate towards moment. im stoked to ride my reno jibs

God I swear people on here are just always in a mood to try to start something. From the sounds of it all Spence was upset with the quality of the skis he bought and wanted them replaced because they didn't hold up. When that didn't happen he started speaking his mind about Surface. Than this whole trip/ ski a day with the team thing came about. Now he doesn't resent the idea of the trip he is just saying he wants a new pair of skis, but he is past all of it. Man people it's not like throwing verbal punches at him is really going to do anything. Just be stoked for him move on.

Past all of that I hope people can just move on enjoy what's happening and hopefully things between Spence and Surface is resolved.

Sorry Spence if I missed interpreted anything you said.

Honestly, I think it's up to the company in the end to make the decision on warranty. That being said, this is the most unprofessional and passive aggressive thing I've ever seen. Very unimpressed with Surface.

i don't know if SURFACE is doing this to piss Big spence of more or they are genuinely trying to kiss and make up, but if that is true then i think Big spence should at least go and talk to them in person. Its a lot easier to bitch someone out in person than it's over the interweb.

If all this falls apart, can we still have a big party and shred Stevens for the fun of skiing!?! That's what it's all about anyway.

you are such a tool. they probably would have brought you a pair of skis but youre too busy being a douchebag on the internet to realize that

his fucking edges on his skis ripped out after 6 days of use. who wouldnt be mad? they should of warrantied his skis from the get go and not wait a year

Gator.- soooooo are you gonna give him a new pair of skis?? that's the big question

*SURFACE$- Nope. Just gonna go chill with Big_Spence and shred...just get to know him a little better. Maybe take some laps and BBQ up some dogs.

so no, i wasn't. it's on page two if you don't believe me for some reason.

here is another pic of spencers skis. notice the edge in between the toe piece and the heel piece on the ski that isnt broken.

alright well they implied they would in a different post. even so, neither of you handled this too well apparently but youre doing a little worse than them by being such a dick and refusing the invite.

jesus christ do you think i would actually enjoy this event? can anyone honestly step up to the plate and say that they think that Surface is just doing this to be a legit company and not doing this purely to spite me?

this whole thread is a giant PR move that only a few people seem to understand. the entire point was to make me look like a gigantic ass and have it appear that i was always 100% in the wrong by not presenting the entire story.

yeah thats why i said they didnt handle it well either. you'd have to be half retarded to think this wasnt a PR move but act like a grown up and laugh it off instead of acting like a martyr jeez

there may be an element of spite but suck it up pussy, chill the fuck out. who cares if they are making a PR move, just roll with it and you get to ski for a day with some super legit skiers. Being so stubborn and arrogant isn't going to help the situation, maybe if you skied with them for a day and got to know them a bit they might realize they screwed you over and refund your skis, but hating on them even more is just making you seem more like a spoiled rich kid which certainly isn't what anyone wants.

I think Big Spence has the right to decide wether or not he wants to go to this event. If Surface really wants to make things right they should try and decide on a fair compromise for both parties regarding a new pair of skis.

Hold on, people.

Somewhere in the petty silliness, we lost track of the fact that we're all skiers. We go skiing.

While I don't know anything about the particulars of the dealings involved, I do know that this presents a chance for skiing. Nobody really enjoys these sorts of semi-anonymous arguments online, and I certainly didn't grow up loving online bickering. I love skiing, and at least this means that I get to shred with some people who aren't usually around.

I'm stoked for Surface to come to Stevens. Can't wait to shred with you guys.

^^ thats the attitude we all need. thats the reason we are such a tight community we all share a love of skiing

no shit its a PR move. They're trying to demonstrate that they're not going to bite your bullshit and turn a negative into a positive. It's only a win-lose situation because nobody foresaw how much of a whiny bitch you were going to be. Warranty doesn't cover rail damage. Your broken ski was a different scenario. You're right, Surface didn't wipe your ass for you, because they assumed you'd be a big boy who could see the bigger picture instead of being an emotional pussy. Pull the stick out of your ass kid.

everyone with a respectable opinion disagrees with you. step out from behind your alias and make a real post you pussy.

i don't want a fucking "big_spence invitational". i don't really have any desire to ski with these guys. in fact at this point i don't even want another pair of skis. if that makes me a whiny, spoiled little rich bitch, (which to be honest i don't see how you're making that connection, because it's far from true. complaining about a $300 pair of skis via an online forum site for 6+ months seem like a very cheap thing to do to me) then so be it. i really could care less what you think about my e-persona. i doubt i'll be skiing much this winter due to work so getting a free pair of skis from Surface is the least of my concern.

like i said before i hope you all have a great season and get more time in up on the hill than i do. David's right, it's all skiing and we're all skiers. if Surface wants to come up to the PNW and host a demo, go for it. obviously people are stoked for it. but have some class guys, don't call me out like you know you're doing by tagging it the "BIG_SPENCE INVITATIONAL". i think you've blown this situation up plenty big already and destroyed both our reputations quite enough.

-Spencer Kuhlman

When I worked at my old ski shop, I saw people get this kinda thing warranteed back every single time. Just saying..

That said. How people manage to break skis in this way baffles me.

Look chief I think you have done a great job at ruining your own reputation as a Newschoolers know it all!

Have some class? such as slandering a company in every thread created about them because you were neglected a warranty due to misuse on your part?

Big props to Surface for blowing the scenario way out of proportion similar to what you have done in sharing your negative experience with their warranty program.

And as said earlier do you really think they were going to make this big of a deal of the situation publicly then spend the money from Utah to the Northwest to hold a demo in the name of your broken skis then not give you a new set?

I was expecting the shred day to end with whoever from Surface handing you a new pair of skis and releasing the photo's on here for people to see how much they do value their reputation and customer service!

Please think outside of your typical thought process that everyone is out to get you, Surface is clearly not your typical ski company. If this thread is not proof of that then i don't know what is!

honestly, if 90% of NSers were put in the same position as Big_Spence, they'd react the same way. I can't speak for those who don't purchase their own gear, but when you have to work hard to afford your gear, it just seems to make it that much more valuable. I don't think he's overreacting because if anyone of us had the same issue, we'd all try and do whatever we could to get them warrantied.

I agree with this 100%

most of these kids think that hes making it into way too big of a deal only because their parents would replace something like that for them

I broke 3 sets of TNK's in 9 days of riding. One of the skis was the first day, first run too. I hadn't even taken them into the park yet with any of them and I didn't get a warranty on the last set. You don't see me making a thread about it.

dude, unless you know every detail of his financial life, please leave those comments out. Its not like every skier has some kind of back up fund for when their shit blows apart for no good reason.
Honestly, I've had 2 pairs of surface skis. the first pair blew apart and were warrantied. the second pair (which I received from the warranty process) also blew up. regardless of the fact that they warrantied my skis, thats bullshit. 2 for 2 is not the kind of record that is gonna keep me coming back. Sorry surface, but i don't think i'll be buying skis from you anymore unless you seriously step up quality.

then dont have your buddy post for you saying you worked your ass off for some skis when your dead poor when in another thread you posted you spent $900 on jiberish.

Honestly, I love the drama of this entire situation. I am sitting back with a bowl of popcorn watching the thread pop up so I can see the newest scene in this great soap opera. Pardon my interruption. Carry on

i said i was cheap, not "dead poor".

cheap≠poor.

this is (hopefully) going to be my last post in this thread, so i'm going to do some sparknotes to wrap it up for the majority of you:

1. surface doesn't owe me anything. i have posted plenty of pictures detailing what happened to my skis. some think that damage deserves a warranty, some don't. but the fact of the matter is if the guys at Surface doesn't think it's deserving of new skis it doesn't mean shit.

2. i don't want this event. come up, ski Stevens, host a demo, whatever; but i want nothing to do with it at this point.

3. i'm done posting my opinion about surface.

4. for you dipshits who still think this is "spectacular customer service" or "surface is s000 legit" you're really fucking ignorant.
