Ohio now has tigers, bears, wolves, and lions loose!

http://http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/10/18/national/main20122339.shtml

This guy just died in Ohio and he had a shit ton of crazy animals, many are now loose. So far they know there are at least 4 tigers, 8 bears, 12 wolves and a lion running around, 25 animals are believed to be on the run. This guy also had cheetahs, giraffes, and camels! I don't know how this happened, or how Ohio let him run his own zoo but I found it crazy. I'd personally love to see a giraffe walking around Ohio State's campus (which is pretty close to where this happened).

Its sad they sound like they are shooting on sight, rather than giving the police tranquilizers or whatever and trying to get the animals in to Zoos.

that sounds awesome, provided little kids etc arent allowed outside for a while haha. bout time ohio had something exciting happen

police arent trained to know how to tranquilize animals they shoot to kill and protect the public and thats exactly what they are doing.......25 potentially dangerous animals in an unfamiliar environment that have never had to feed themselves is a very bad thing...plus by the time they could give the training to the police and bring in the necessary equipment alot more people will probably have died

im pretty sure it was more like he set all the animals loose and then killed himself

fuck the guy but its sad all those animals had to be shot

What the fuck.

This is complete bullshit. Tranquilizers could have been used. No reason they had to be shot.

I mean it's terrible tht they have to kill all these beautiful animals.... But it would be sweet to come home to the wife starting a conversation with "hey Hun how was your day of police duty" "oh uhhh i shot a god damn lion in the fuckin face... I'm making it into a rug to keep our feet warm so it cool"

I don't know why anyone would be proud of "shooting a lion in the face"

That would not be sweet at all. I'd be ashamed.

holy shit. just think of the damage they could have done if they all teamed up as a unit! haha

The owner was fucked up dude haha, he let loose all the animals then killed himself. And the police cheif is a fucking retard for saying shoot to kill when there aren't even toooo many houses around. They killed 47/50 of the animals.. I hope the last 3 animals fuck shit up, for their fallen brothers.

*When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass, and so, we are all connected in the great circle of life.*

Too bad Ohio doesn't have antelope, just fucks with guns.

I live about a half an hour away from where this dude lived. Tranquilizers were used but to no avail.

Ohio Wildlife control isnt exactly equipped to take down tigers.

the real question is, how did this slack jawed yokel acquire all these animals in the first place. it should have never come to this. these off the road animal farms with exotic/endangered animals being taken care of by some moron living out his child hood dreams is ridiculous. the state should have been monitoring this guy. i saw the cages that these animals were in prior to being released, the conditions were abhorrent to say the least.

^i was watching the news and ohio is one of the states that has pretty much no regulations at all about this kind of thing

if you guys saw that video of the tiger playing with the dog by that house in the desert that was posted on here a while ago the guy who owned that house and tiger (and other exotic animals) came on saying how it wasnt faulty cages or the fact there were exotic animals wasnt the problem, it was that the man was mentally unstable (no shit)

still the guy mentioned above lives in nevada which also has no rules and his house was a fucking exotic compound

The guy let the animals loose. Cut the fence around his farm. And then he shot himself

Oh yeah and his wife left him a couple months ago

yeah i know whats your point, i said nothing to the contrary of what you just said, why are you even quoting me?

if the dude was really that down on his luck he should have called the zoo to take the animals and then blown his brains out.

well - all i can say about this is.... murica - fuck yeah....

Why? Bengal tigers are extremely endangered - less then 2500 estimated left in the wild... I know these weren't wild, but it seems very harsh to just blow them away without giving a fuck - i agree with whoever posted above about tranquilizers. Fuck they do that in the wild all the time to attach tracking devices and all that shit... why not up there? Fuck i don't really care about the lions as their population in the wild isn't too bad - but the tigers?!

really terrible.... im sure they had their reasons about public safety etc etc - but still, i feel a huge over reaction.

I still don't see how people are angry at the Police chief or the cops.

What do you think would have happened if the chief decided not to hunt and kill the animals, but instead waited for enough tranquilizer guns and qualified people to show up and catch them all? What if a lion or tiger would have attacked and killed a child? People would be calling for the police chief's head, for "not protecting the public". These are wild predatory animals, it wasn't a bunch of chickens and raccoons that escaped. Human lives are immeasurably more important than animal lives in cases like this.

because humans are smart and dont kill. No, wait. Humans are humane and only kill for food...

HUMANS LIVES ARE MORE IMPORTANT IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!

Not at all...I'm just saying that our lives aren't more important than their's.

Somehow we have the idea that just because we're intelligent beings, we are better than any other living creature on this planet. What makes our lives more important than their's?
