Ohio now has tigers, bears, wolves, and lions loose!

I would be nicer to you if you were not so aggressive here. You are the "fucking idiot."

-Human lives are ALWAYS more important than ANY animals lives.

-56 animals escaped

-6 were rescued successfully

-You know nothing about tranquilizing animals. Thats not how it works (bear tranquilizers), so you should probably shut the fuck up. The people from the zoo that tried to tranquilize the animals explained the difficulties (dosages per animal and weight and breeds etc and aggressiveness of the animal, NPO status, rain/dark/scared animals/uncontrollable circumstances out in the field, MULTIPLE animals limited staff).

-One big cat ate a monkey. The guys body was also bitten by a large cat. The animals were not kittens. They certainly could have hurt someone.

-Two were killed by cars. Thats a much better death than execution right? We should just let them wander onto 71 and die an agonizing death?

-It was almost dark, rainy, and these are country cops with NO tranquilizers. People from the zoo came and attempted to help, but it just doesn't work like that. They captured what they could, including attempting to tranquilize a tiger which promptly went crazy and had to be put down. Maybe we should let your brilliant self out there with tranquilizers and capture a shitload of tigers and lions in the dark?

-Multiple people in the nearby neighborhoods had encounters with wild animals. Not everyone gets an instant message to just stay inside. How the fuck does that work? Just all of a sudden notifying everybody in the county and nearby counties to stay inside? The elderly, people with the TV or radio not on? Because what would actually happen is we would tell everyone possible to stay inside until the animals are captured, the animals would promptly scatter, and the next week or more they would try to hunt all the animals down. With no one walking outside of their house. Or rather, someone who did not hear the message would walk outside and get mauled. Or the animals would suffer out in the cold and rain. I don't understand this option really.

-Jack Hanna defended the police.

Perhaps the more important issue here in Ohio is we have no laws regarding owning these animals. If you are going to have a bleeding heart over the very very sad shooting of the animals, perhaps you should address the fact that this mentally ill, recently out of prison on gun charges redneck should not own 18 bengal tigers, 17 lions, mountain lions, grizzlies, black bears, wolves, leopards, great apes, etc.

big power comes with big responsibility. we as humans like to think of ourselves as the crown of the animal kingdom, the fucking top of the world and yes, we seem like we stand somewhat above animals.

but all the things we do with our planet arent necessarily good just because we can do them.

those few responses in this thread a few posts earlier enraged me quite a bit. as if this is a case of natural selection or what.

i am not saying that the law enforcers did something wrong or what because they would have gotten mad trouble if someone died because of that.

but in general, every live is important. treating animals like our neighbors and not like our slaves is very important. i am not a vegetarian because thats just not what humans are, but even those animals should suffer as less as possible, fish resources should be treated with more respect and so on and so on.

I overall agree with you.

I don't want the animals to suffer. I love cats of all sizes. And it's too bad this case came down to this, but there was literally no other option. Letting the animals roam around for days while the authorities gather the resources necessary to capture them safely would have been detrimental to both the humans and animals. The humans would have been in danger, and there's no way it's good for the animals. There's probably a reason tigers and tigers aren't native to ohio.

Are you serious? Another fucking stupid comment... What if the last Bengal tiger had killed 15 humans, now what.

OMG WHAT IF ......

THE HUMANS THE TIGER ATE WERE ALL TERRORISTS?

Do you really want to play the 'what if' game like a little baby?

Did the tiger just kill them or did it kill then eat? Because if it killed them but not for food then he is a wasteful bastard and deserves to die but if it were just purely for substance then thats still probably frowned on but its alittle less bad.

hahaha are you kidding me? A bit hypocritical if you say that when the whole reason why I commented to begin with is cause you said "what if the human was a murder" who is more important then.

funny shit.

Damn, too bad I don't live in Ohio. Woulda grabbed the 91/30 and gone bear 'huntin. Feed me for months and get the baddest ass coat in history.

You really need to shut the fuck up and get learned. It takes 5-10 MINUTES for a tranq to fully take effect. You need to realize that peoples lives were at stake here. Would you stand in front of a tiger and let it maul you if you had a gun in your hand?

Listen to the amazing mind of Jack Hana:

(wont let me embed)

What happened happend. I think I can speak for everybody here that the best outcome would be for all the animals to be tranqed and captured, but that was just not physically possible

LOLZ they got some serious pussy killing all the tigers and lions. for real though there was no need to shoot them all

Our lives are only worth more than theirs if you are a Christian. If you are a Jew then they are equally important. Not sure about Muslims.

FACK LE POPO.

BUT I THINK THE PERSON MOST TO BLAME IS THAT CRAZY FAGGOT WHO LET THE ANIMALS OUT BEFORE KILLING HIMSELF.

NOT OKAY.

Sorry this makes no sense. Essentially what you are saying is that faced with shooting the a tiger, or a child being hunted by the tiger you would shoot the child. They were actively making this decision by proxy. I think its pretty well established that other methods of control were not working. This is what had to be done. It was sad, but required to protect human life. If you truly believe that the rare bengal tiger is worth a human life, than fine, so be it. I think the majority of us would say otherwise.

Call me crazy, but I actually do think the life of a rare bengal tiger is on the same level as a human life- maybe not more important than a human life but definitely equal. I would especially expect you to say this, though, as you're in the medical field and aspire to help/save many human lives. I, however, look at life from a different perspective derived from a passion for wildlife and don't think choosing between a human and a tiger is an easy decision at all.

The moral of this story, though, is that no matter what happened the outcome is shitty. These exotic wild animals were not running free through the African grasslands... they were locked up in cages in Ohio of all places. A bengal tiger is NOT meant to withstand a winter in Ohio. Keeping exotic animals in cages like this is wrong. Although they all were shot in the end, I think it was a lose-lose situation. They were either mistreated/unhappy or dead. Maybe shooting them put them out of their misery and is some freakish, odd silver lining to the story.

I do too. I live not too far from there, and I feel bad for law enforcement taking shit. It sucks, but couldnt we do something more productive, like prohibit weirdos from owning these animals in the first place? All those blaming the cops are totally out of line. Sorry, but under the circumstances killing the animals was the only option possible. Would you honestly not care if a bunch of tigers and lions and whatnot were running through a residential neighborhood?

One more thing to add.... when I say above that I think choosing between a tiger and a human is a tough decision, I don't really mean slave tigers kept by crazy Ohio people..... I mean a wild tiger or a rescued/sanctuary/preserve tiger that could actually be feasibly used for conservation.

im sorry but if you were a caveman your genes would have quickly died out, and I really dont get why they didn't.. from a biological perspective that is

If I lived with the dinosaurs you're definitely right, but the funny thing is..... I'm not a caveman and I don't think I need to think like one because we don't live in caveman times.

Aside from post whoring this thread for the past half hour.... I'm also quite high and am going to go out on a limb and guess that my thoughts are not being articulated as well as I'd like them to be. I'll blame myself for sounding dumb, but in my own head... it allllll makes sense : )

I am not high, or drunk, or under any inebration other than life...

and I understand every single word you're saying Lolo. Some people however, don't seem to understand. To which I say, shame on them for being narrowminded enough to not see the big picture being painted.
