Official Stevens Pass Thread

i think i am going up tomorrow i will be on my brand new chopsticks and in last years nickel camo oakley pants and a bright blue bonfire puffy and i have a black helmet with an ns sticker on it so holler at me if you see me

So I can't find anyone who is willing to go tomorrow morning. Damn it, fucking lazy bastards. Maybe the pass will be closed again and I can get some freshies Sat morning or just say fuck it and head up solo if the road is indeed open.

From what I can tell, it does not look like the pass will be open tomorrow. Hope so, but im not really banking on it~

From TGR... FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to rub it in anyone's face or anything, but access to Steven's was open this morning from this side of the mountains....one of the best pow day's I've had in a long fuckin' time. They kicked us out of the backside at 11:15, but skiing Southern Cross before it closed made me cum all over thermals.

The coverage is getting surprisingly good fast back there too. Hwy 2 is now closed from Coles Corner to L-Town, so tomorrow is a crap shoot, but if any of you are planning on going to Steven's tomorrow, send me a PM and maybe we can meet up.

Oh great the pass is open now. FUCK. I woke up early and it was still closed. Decide not to go and guess what, now its open.

Fuck it, i wont get fresh tracks anyway its almost 830 now.

Same exact thing happened to me. I guess it was too fucking hard to put up an estimated time of opening~

some strange force woke me at 6:30 sans alarm. I saw the pass was still closed, but it just seemed like they were going to open it (relatively little snowfall overnight, colder temps, closed previous day, and some serious highway plowing efforts at around dawn) so I left, and sure enough, cruised right on up.

Shit wasn't deep, but excellent otherwise, save the few instances of death wind crust taking control of a ski here and there. Some fun winds to be had, some sun and snow, empty for a couple of hours, but the crowds did come.

I had a pretty good time up there today, except one of my buddies had to get tobogganed out of big chief bowl. I wasn't with him at the time but I guess he rag dolled and bounced off quite a few rocks. Luckly he just ended up with a deep cut to his head, but nothing broken.

Holy shit thats terrible. Still a ton of rocks in there huh, I haven't hit it yet. I got the biggest core shot of my life on Tye Mill right near the damn chair. I couldnt believe it, I was so pissed I knew right when it happened it was major.

Derek, his name is Tyler and he works at bothell shit and bammer. He snowboards but I ride with him alot cause he can rip pow.

and yeah there is hella rocks right under the surface up there. I wouldn't advise going up there. Its not worth it

Windblown and crusty today, cant wait for the warm air to melt and freeze it all. Had some nice turns all day off double diamond, and fun times in the trees.

I also saved some stashes for you guys who couldnt make it up today, they're right around the NO I DIDNT I TOOK IT ALL, YOU GET NOTHING, AHAHAHHAHAH

Officials at Stevens Pass Winter Resort announced after a two days of weather and highway related closure the resort will reopen for afternoon and night operations on six of 10 chairlifts from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. The resort will resume full operations Saturday.

So pow day on the backside on saturday? Yay. Assuming they open brooks, skyline, hogs, tye, daisy, and chief tomorrow~

I went up today. I had to drive out to Quincy and back through Wenatchee. Took a long ass time. It was worth it though, plenty of new snow and no one was there! It was badass. I was with the GF though, so didn't really do too much but it was fun to get up there with fresh snow and fuck around. I shattered my pole though on Tye, that sucked ass. So I skied all day poleless, not gonna lie, I felt pretty naked.

Well if you didnt go today because you were worried about rain then you are a fool. Great day, much fun to be had~

Interestingly enough a fire started the very same day burning all of the trees to the ground. Then all of the lift towers were washed into the now raging Tunnel Creek~

Dudes:

Couple things....The rain that hit this weekend canceled the park closure/build because we need more snow. We have "snow harvest" areas that we pull snow from and those are down to the bare bones from the features that are currently in the park. We've got some pretty rad features planned but we just need the snow to build them. Another big storm should do it...

The Open Season Rail Jam is on for this Friday, so come out and support. Were going to start the build tomorrow (Wed) to ensure ample building and shovel time for Friday. I think you guys will be stoked on the set up, should please everyone from beginners to the Bob Gnarly's out there. Also the 1st place winners will get the sickest trophy we've ever given out! (It's no .44 mag but close....)

Lastly we are setting up a focus group/live forum of sorts for YOU, the newschooler/core demographic. We want to hear your guys opinions on everything from the park to our new RFID system to anything else you want to tell us about what were doing right or wrong, rad or bad. Right now this is tentatively scheduled for next weekend Saturday, January 24th. It will be sometime in the afternoon so everyone can get a solid day of riding in.

I will post a new thread as soon as I figure out the time & place. We want you to know what your opinions are of Stevens Pass so tell your friends, conjure up some questions or comments and we'll be here to listen. Also tell your snowboard friends as well....

Planks again dudes, hope to see everyone Friday.

Hey so how have the night skiing conditions been? Snoqualmie has been alright during the day, but as soon as the sun sets its insane ice city. I want to hit up Stevens tomorrow after class, so I won't be there till about 2. Worth it?

Rail Jam tomorrow evening dudes! Should be a great time with a fun setup. Check the webcam to see the setup. They will be adding a couple more features tonight as well, hope to see everyone there. Jib on...
