Since Joe Pope left Gd everyone is worried about what is going to happen to the terrain parks. A very talented skier chris crawford is now heading up the parks with JP both have worked extensively with pope and are comitted to making the park as dope as possible! So lets STOP THE HATE and leave feedback about the park and ideas to help those guys out!!!!!! thanks all ideas are greatly open!

Link to blog?

Blog sites are a sick idea, more ski resorts should do them. The LT blog is very cool to check out.

good huss chase, it's "official" hah, kidding man. hope those guys can keep up the pace this year. haven't been to GD in a few weeks, but i haven't heard good things.
what's in the lineup for the future?

bump

...any news? the buzz on GD went way down after the mad pow hit all over montana, but with these sunny days i'm wondering how the rock is holding up? how is the park? what's set up?

As of last Monday there was hardly anything up there. The little park had some fun jibs and two small tables. Wildwood was all set up but seemed like it had been a little neglected. Rodeo on the other hand had hardly any snow in it and it doesn't look like they had started working on it. I was talking to my friend up there and he was saying the park guys can pretty much make all the snow they want its just been to warm.

Rodeo should be built as soon as the temps drop enought to make snow so hopefully in a week or so there should be a bigger step down jump and the wall ride atleast. ill talk to chris and see what they have planned!

sad to hear it's almost february and nothing has happened, but yah, this warm weather is probably putting a damper on the snow making eh

Could have had the park up three weeks ago with all the snow that we uh... HAD. Frustrating to say the least mang, let's get it rolling.

There we a couple of features there that were well set up, the picnic tables and the slight up rail at the top of Rascal are examples, but overall I was pretty disappointed by what we found there on Monday. GD can do better.

I went up to gd today it was very cold but cold means that every snow gun on the mountain was puking snow all over the park and the guns should be running straight for the next eight days! hopefullly there will be something that resembles a park by next weekend!!!!! they were changing rascall up with that long green box as a down rail (wierd), the pencil lead rail is the same and the green box at the bottom of rascall was replaced with the flat down box. they were still working on the jumps so not sure what is going on there we will see tomorrow.

I heard Rodeo will be open next weekend. Any word on what features they will have? Also, will H Town be going down this year?

from talking to some of the guys, it sounds and looks like they might have a 3 jump line on the right side of rodeo when your skiing down. chris crawford said they are looking to have more snow features, with less rails. not exactly sure what he means by snow features, but hopefully they'll have some good jumps

Sick! I am so over rails. I will probably come there this weekend, I am so fucking sick of the absurd laziness and lack of motivation in Showdown's park.

yep, your correct, h town is the 22nd. and i heard the same rumor, not sure if its true, about a comp for the opening of the big park. not sure about anything as of now, but you could tell they had been making a ton of snow. check skigd.com as the week progresses

it doesn't mention a comp on their site now, but says they will have one the weekend after that, and then h town is the weekend after that=three weekends from now

im just geting ready to head up now was up lastnight and there was about 5 fatty jumps duno bout rails tho ill get an update tonight gna be sick tho

it is massive. there are 2 rails right now, both huge, and like 3 jumps right now. the 2 rails: at the top, its like a longish propane tank with a big landing off. then below that is a longish flat bar. it's raised like 7 feet off the ground and has like a 7 foot gap on, with a huge drop off. then there is this pretty small jump that pops you up a ton. then there's the two big jumps, the normal one at the bottom of the "pipe" and the one on the left. however, both are bigger than i've ever seen them. i'd guess the one at the bottom of the pipe is like a 40 ft deck, pops you up a ton, and has a long landing. the other one is probably a 25 ft deck with a super long landing, its really mellow. rascal then has a rail or box option, then two nice small jumps, then a rainbow box.in rodeo they will have a down box above the biggest jump soon, the wallride soon, and maybe some other stuff. i'm gonna go ahead and say the park is the biggest and best i've ever seen it at GDand props to chris, after a kinda sketchy start, he has done an excellent job with rodeo

^so cool to hear its awesome! i cant wait to get up there tomorrow. hopefully see all you ns'ers up there as well!

^i disagree i was highly dissapointed the propane tank is in no means long its like 8 or 9 ft the hi bar is descent tho and i thot all the jumps were kinda wack mega nuckles and way poppy i was not impressed by ne means. sorry but the gd is strugling i would way rather lap bigskys mini park then lap rodeo and bigskys jumpline is way better than ne of thos jumps and just as big

but we're talking about great divide. great divide has never had tables, or step overs, they have always, always had step downs. and for step downs, i thought those were pretty nice. super floaty if you got the speed right. chris has obviously spent a ton of work (in the last 3 days haha) and i thought it showed. great divide has basically 2 park guys, and to be able to do that much with that little in such a short time was good. they've maintained rascal too, which has always been a problem other years. i'm pretty stoked at where the park is right now

so i went up to gd and checked out the setup, and it was pretty cool a little wierd at first but the features were fun. some features were pretty big compared to years past like a good sized gap to a high bar. the jumps took a little getting used to. there was a 30 footer on the skiers left and a 35-40 footer at the bottom of the pipe. all jumps had quite a bit of pop and will prolly get changed soon. all in all its pretty fun hitting bigger features finally. oh and get better brent!

haha thanks bro, sadly my ACL is gone. MCL is a possibility too, but my season is shot. Boo.

But the park is tits, enjoy it boys!

i now pose a question to those of you who have been riding great divide's park. would it be worth driving from bozeman (skipping out on a day or two at big sky/moonlight) to session the GD?
honest answer... cuz i wanna shred, but don't want to waste my time in disappointment.

hmmm, depends on if you like step downs and what the weather is like. and if you want to compete or not, etc.
jackson said you tore your mcl brent, that sucks man. heal that up fast

if its sunny again gd would totally be worth the drive it was such pleasant skiing on sunday. the big park is worth checkin out too cause they will prolly be dialing it in mon and tue.

haha Dillion what up! Over shot like a thirty footer ish and over rotated a three. Left ski popped off, right didn't. Pizza'd hardcore haha and ya, there goes a pop. Super lame

yes, that's in two weekends, or supposedly there's a comp this weekend. like a ten dollar entry fee, and the prizes just get the money split evenly. but don't take me for that, because i'm guessing it could go either way between them having a comp or not

It sounds like the park will be alot different this year, Im pumped. Will the urban down rail still be on top of the pipe? And will the 4 jump line be there for H town?

Sam, are you going to H town this year?

hopefully i will be going to H town kip, but i might also go to that lost trail slopestyle instead. If i go to h town can i maybe get a ride with you guys from GF on?

last weekend they were putting in a down box instead of the down rail above the big jump. it also looked like they were putting in an up flat box, but i'm not sure about that. i also haven't heard anything about a 4 jump line.
and also, no comp for this weekend, sorry. 406 was going to sponsor one, but they're moving it to later in the year, like mid march. so no comp for this weekend, sorry, but they will probably have one later with the same format that they were talking about

hey kip the park is pretty sweet and if you are doing htown it might be worth it but pow is a rare comoditie these days!

If you know where to go Showdown ALWAYS has pow. Plus we've been getting around a foot a week for the past couple weeks. The snow out of bounds (yes Showdown does have some legit sidecountry) is finally getting safe and deep so that's what were doing tomorrow. I tweaked my knee pretty good yesterday so Im going to let it rest until H Town. Chase, unless we get some killer snow next week I will be seeing you at H town.
