What's the new hawx 130 s on the atomic website?

Because we sold through all of the 17/18 Ultra 130 boots way early, we are pre-launching next year's 130 S model. The "S" denotes that the boot uses our new, magnesium Power Shift- same adjustability as the carbon-loaded piece but now made out of metal for a stronger, more powerful connection between the cuff & shell. The new Power Shift will be on Hawx Ultra, Prime, and Magna models for both men & women and will always be denoted by the "S".

Glad I was able to get my hands on a pair this year, it's like a whole new world of skiing after coming from way too roomy Dalbellos and terribly fitting Langes. Also very much enjoyed your interview with Blister, well done.

Thanks man! Glad you're stoked on the boots!

anything from 4FRNT? curious to know if they're planning on making more InThaynes for next year.

They are, but it’s getting some changes.

This year was just the renegade with a turned up tail.

Next year it slims down from 122 to 117. Bit more jibby and tail rocker this time.

Softer too i think?

I have. I'm a big fan, actually.

The pair I tried weren't mine to keep. If they were I feel confident that I could've solved some of the fit issues I was having and been reasonably happy in it for 90% of the skiing I do.

Edit caveat:

I haven't skied it in alpine bindings. Only Radicat FT's. I'm reluctant to believe it would have the same suspension and power transfer as my RX 130's in a pair of pivots only because of its reduced mass. But, I haven't had the chance to test it. So I have no evidence to back up that assumption.

I know Cy has spent some time in it for Blister. I'd be interested to hear his thoughts on wether or not we've reached the one-boot-quiver era yet.

I’m going to bump this thread again so that I can eat my words.

I bit the bullet and bought my own pair of Hawx XTD 130’s this year. After playing with the fit and a 6 pack of beer in the back shop I can honestly say they’ve replaced both my Dynafit Beast Carbons for ‘freeride touring’ and my Lange RX 130’s for inbounds skiing.

I talked a lot of shit about light boots and their supposed ‘no compromise’ marketing claims but I think Matt and Atomic have actually done it this time. The XTD 130 walks noticeably better and weighs less than any other competitor I’ve used. It skis better than the S/Lab and right on par with the Freetour (and again. Weighs something like 400 grams less per foot. That is not an insignificant amount of weight.)

I genuinely think it skis just as well as my Lange RX 130’s with the added benefit of 15 degrees of forward lean without a big-ass spoiler. The only thing I miss about my Lange’s is the cush liner. And I only think about that when I’m putting them on in the morning.

Anyways, I guess I hereby admit defeat on the whole ‘one boot quivers are bullshit’ debate we all had a few months ago.

You crushed it on this one, Matt.

Thanks, Peach! I'm genuinely stoked that you like the boot, that's awesome.

The boot has exceeded our expectations and it's been rad to hear from you and everyone else who likes it. We're already thinking of ways to make it even better, so stay tuned ;)
