Official Gear Rumor Thread

Oh Megan...

Super interesting to see the new Chetlers! I'm drooling even more for the 100s now

When did someone decide it was a good idea to make pow skis white? I blame pollard...

I'm always such a bitch for Armada's graphics. These popped up in a thread a little while ago when someone ordered the Arv 96 off their rep and ended up getting a 2019 graphic. Definitely seems like an arv graphic after seeing next years 116's but I also heard that the B-dog was going to have a dog on the graphic. Either way I'm liking the graphic scheme Armada's got going for next year.

more armada graphics

Well now that it’s been picturized I can spill the beans haha the 2nd picture is an ARV 116 with the same ultralight layup that the current JJ zero has.

Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s the zero collection version of the 116 right?

Yes. The zero collection version will have the light core while there will also be the regular production version which will be the same arv 116 it is now.

Inb4 every kid that wants to tour on park skis with daywreckers gets those full tilts.

Also holy fuck Pollard never ceases to disappoint with graphics.

And the technica guide pro or whatever they're calling it peaks my interest. Without me doing my research rn, whats being accepted as the best one boot quiver rn?

I actually almost puked in my mouth when I saw the Sakana 100. I think it may be the ugliest ski Pollards ever designed. Non-cohesive graphics, proboscis monkey nose-shaped shovels, some sort of joy division pulsar fish scan thing (tf is that?), and the scales just dont do it for me. BUT if it skis like the pescado who cares what it looks like.

Edit for those of you who dont know what a proboscis monkey is:

Here's a rundown of 2019 skis gear from most of the major brands.

My favorite new gear was the Shift and the new Bent Chetler (it's even lighter) though I think it may be too soft for me in the PNW.

Can you expand on the new salomon boots?

What boot? the MTN Lab? I think it's mostly unchanged

The new x/lab boots in general. Replacing the xmax according to the evo page.

Are they just renaming them or is it a significant change

Gotcha.

The S/Max line replaces the XMax line. It has a new shell construction method that's mono-injected and Salomon's calling "Coreframe," customization (Salomon calls it "Custom Shell HD") and they come with a new seamless liner. So, mostly minor tweaks that make it lighter and more boot fitter friendly.

I have a few questions.. hopefully you or someone could answer.

What did they do to the core of the CT3.0? I heard they changed it, which is good, cause the last core sucked, but did they change it for the better?

New Prodigy line should be sick, the 4.0 is great and they’re shaping the others around the 4.0

What is the difference between the Armada ARV 116 and the ARV 116 Zero? Just weight? Or does the Zero have a stiffer flex and more carbon stringers?

Any return of the Ghost?

Or is it utterly dead? :(

.]No sign of a Sean Petit pro model in K2’s line up again. Is he just using the Marksman/Catamaran?

Catamaran essentially is petits pro model. He had yet to renew his contract while they developed it and called it that instead.

I'm 99% that boot is dead, they just sold so few of those that it was hard to justify making them anymore.

The whole 2-buckle performance boot was never a huge hit. And you can see that today with all of the mods athletes/boot-fitters are doing to the MTN boots.

Interested in what Salomon has for Alpine bindings for some reason. Improvements on the STH2 16's and bindings alike (besides the paint jobs of course).

@ 5:01, looks like you can see a dual buckle boot. Maybe just a newer version of the Ghost 100 :(

STH2 13/16 just receive color updates

Warden 11 is now MNC (it was just Alpine 5355 last year)

How does the new Smax compare to the Xmax in terms of fit? I bought a pair of Xmax 120s this year and I really like them so far. That feel when the boot you purchased in the current year is replaced the following year.

Very similar, probably exact. It's more of a tech update than a fit update

They updated the core with Poplar to increase durability. I still wouldn’t trust it. I snapped 4 pairs of 3.0s I’m done dealing with them personally because they continue to use damn balsa wood. Balsa wood the shit you used to build bridge models with in enineering class. Yes it’s light, but it’s shit.

I’m not worried about snapping a core, the hybrids just ski kinda funky. All the other cores I really like tho!

Any details on the RMU YLE ski?

Prototype stage they showed 2 different proto shapes which look to be asymmetrical sidecut. Interesting. Hope to see what the shape is on that project north shore though

GIMME DEM SPECS!!!!

101 last

1450 Grams

Full carbon Garilamid shell

New walk mech that has great range of motion, a little squeaky here in the shop but the verdict is out till they hit snow.

Speed toe ( bummed out I can't run it with my cast system or the new soli binding)

Feels stiff enough 120ish

Any info on forward lean specs out yet?

Haven't seen the numbers for ski mode. Dynafit claims 55 of cuff movement in tour. That seems about right. The forward lean is adjustable but I'll take measurements after its done cooking on my foot.

This.

Early reports say it's like a boat.

My foot looks like a loaf of banana bread so to be honest with you I'm okay with this.

I'd love to have a high performance touring boot I can ski in my true size without needing to modify the shell so drastically.

As a former boot fitter it’s exactly what you don’t want to see on an aggressive 100+ day a year skier.

With that being said, the new Atomic boots you’ve had a hand in have been a godsend for a large portion of this ignored market.

Good work.

Cheers! The new Hawx Prime should make it even easier, hope you dig it!
