Official Edelweiss Thread 10/11

I'm pretty sure he is saying just the quad... considering edelweiss is a sister resort of mont saint sauver and since edelweiss put 500 grand into snowmaking last year they would probably want to open before anyone.

yeah hopefully
on another note, where does everyone live? cause if we could all share rides sometimes it would make life much nicer
i live in kars (30 mins south of ottawa), but i drive pretty much straight through ottawa

Considering the just lit the guns yesterday for the first time, I would keep my fingers crossed for opening next weekend.

snow guns are officially up and running and the weather is looking great... I'm going to say they will absolutely be open this weekend

Just got word official first night is thursday. Not sure whats going to be open but the lifts will be turning.

OPENING Thursday, December 9

The season will begin its season Thursday, December 9 at 9 pm with the track Chemin des Bois served by the lift Edelbahn Express.

From the Edelweiss site probably a small set-up also.

ya, since avila is the main MSSI park they get new features and edle gets the old ones. The dragon tail/roller coaster is soooooo sick, the DFD will be great to have seeing we didnt have one last year and DFD is like the 2nd most basic kink, and that flat down is just huge!

^ really wanna learn 450 offs this year,. That would be pretty dope to try them on, just because it throws you up at the end.

UPDATE:

was there today (am doing patrolling Thursday days and Sunday nights so say hi.. I'm on Seth Pistols normally) and as said just the one run is open right now but snow makers are running full tilt and with the expected dump Sunday a lot more should be open very soon.

there were no park features set up, but today they were moving rails and such out of storage so I'm hazarding a guess that this weekend there will be at least something up.

and the new features do look very yummy

Edel setup december, 11 ,2010,

flat dancefloor, (really fun),

Flat down box, (low to the ground),

the most beautiful, sexiest single barrel down bar, smoother than butter, not too steep. best ever

ill be there tomorow, and update if anything changes.

No change as of Tues the 14th

The boys are working hard to open terrain though and likely more park features soonish

looking good, when I left today they were just finishing shaping a jump that's maybe 15-20 feet from lip to knuckle. they took out what they had and changed everything around, I forget exactly since they were still setting it up but there was a very nice looking up box, a flat rail, a down rail and maybe something else.

they said it should be open tomorrow

waiting for MacMahoooon to confirm what there is

Just came back. So you got two lines two choose from.

Leftside line:

-Up box very low to the ground probably 10ft to a nice big landing

-Then a jump the take off is steep probably 15ft jump, didn't really like it to much kick for that size

Rightside line:

-Small flat rail 6ft?

-Downrail probably 14ft very smooth

-small down box really low to the ground.

Snowmaking was going hard on the legit park.

I'll be up there or at cascades tommorow. Black and white sessions jacket, some slimmer black denim pants, and my skis are 2010-11 rossi s4's.

the jump is super fun, perfect kick/landing for learning flips, (in my opinion)the only thing is the speed is a little iffy, you can only hit the jump in the park, (no speed for other things)

I think i saw you if you did infact end up going to edelweiss.

Also those new features are looking sick! cant wait for them to be set up.

UPDATE:

Park is sweet. Same as before except for a couple little changes. They put a small hop on pvc at the top. They added a small flat to the end of the down box which is really fun. They also rebuilt the jump with less kick.

I should be there tomorrow during the day.

Ill be riding 08 invaders, wearing a red jacket and torqouise pants. White helmet and smith i/o's and striped poles. I should be with a boarding budy.

was it someone here who I had to tell to stop hiking the park till night skiing started?

kinda dumb, it's called a 'lift pass' for a reason. if you hike it should be absolutely fine whether you have a pass or not. but it's not at all up to me what the rules are there..

and yea, park has some small changes. and It looks like at least part of Zoomer will be open by tomorrow or Saturday.

Not exactly sure what you're trying to say here since it sounds like you told somebody off for hiking without a pass, and then you're complaining about that rule being dumb... But anyways, you're skiing on THEIR property, which they spend money to maintain, groom, snowmake, whatever. Not to mention that the rails and everything are theirs and they invested THEIR money into it. Sure it's called a "lift pass" but really you're paying for access to the mountain, not for use of the lifts... Plus I believe it has something to do with liability as well, i.e. if you get hurt without a pass you could sue...

he had a night seasons pass, meaning he'd already signed off on the whole liability not suing thing. And with a seasons pass it doesn't discriminate for time of day of when the passholder is liable and when the ski resort is liable. It's always the passholder. So if someone gets there an hour before they can get on the lift and they want to walk up the hill, why should that be a problem?? Apparently the lifties thought is was a huge problem. maybe I'm missing something they didn't explain properly

Hmm your post seems to imply that YOU were the one telling someone off, which got me confused...

But anyways, again, it has to do with money... you're still skiing THEIR mountain, THEIR features, THEIR man-made snow, and using the park that THEY made, which is why they wouldn't be down with you hiking when you technically haven't paid to be there. If you want to go ski before night skiing starts, just buy a full seasons pass, and support the place.

Fuck, i need to keep this in mind. I have a night pass and hiking the small park is exactly what i plan to do until 3pm rolls around

part of the park on skiers right of Zoomer looks like it'll be open soon. They set up what looked like 2 down rails and a C rail going to the left and were almost done setting up the wall ride.
